After seeing huge amount of success in Steam Early Access, Hopoo Games has announced that Risk of Rain 2‘s first content update is out tomorrow. Scorched Acres will add a brand new Survivor named “Rex”, whose gameplay you can see below, courtesy of IGN. A plant-robot hybrid of sorts, Rex is described as “completely different” from other Survivors and must be unlocked through a quest.
Players will have an explicit objective to follow, as opposed to playing for a set number of hours. Though a full breakdown will be coming once the update is live, the developer’s road-map does indicate other content that’s coming. This includes a new boss, new stage, and new items, equipment, and so on.
How much of that content will actually be included – especially insofar as new items and equipment are concerned – remains to be seen. Still, if you want to see the looter shooter power fantasy done right, Risk of Rain 2 in its current state is hard to ignore. Other features coming up in the next few months include Skills 2.0, new Hidden Realms, Artifacts 2.0, and the “final” stage and boss. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
