Rocket League Sells 8 Million Copies, Player Count Nears 22 Million

Psyonix's indie success just keeps getting bigger.

Psyonix’s Rocket League continues to grow in terms of popularity. Studio VP Jeremy Dunham revealed in a recent video that the arcade football/racing title managed to sell 8 million copies in its lifetime and that total player count was almost at 22 million (taking both individual and split-screen players into account).

Steam sales weren’t revealed and given how Rocket League was offered for free at launch as part of Sony’s Instant Game Collection on PS4, it’s easy to see where a lot of the total player count has come from. It also had a free weekend on Steam back in April.

Still, Rocket League has been a huge success for its developer in the year since its release and it’s still going strong with plenty of content and updates.
