Rocket League is a highly successful multiplayer game, and it has managed to retain its popularity even three years after its release. As the games-as-a-service model has become more and more popular in recent years, the developers just want to continue working on the game and have no plans to release a sequel.
Given that the game is still very popular and retains a passionate following, it makes sense that the developers just want to work to “expand the existing Rocket League.” Of course, with online games such as this one, the important thing is to work on balancing issues and to keep improving upon the base game so that players can keep working on improving and honing their skills in the game. Speaking to Gamespot, the game’s director Scott Rudi stated, “That’s preferable to do; games-as-a-service. The most valuable thing in our game is our fans. A lot of the stuff we do is focused on keeping them with us. Keeping them interested and all hyped up about our game. We want to provide a really good experience [for players] to have fun with for years to come. We want to keep this going.”
Rocket League will be celebrating its third anniversary this month. The game is currently available for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
