Samurai Shodown Releasing June 25th on PS4 and Xbox One in the West, New 101 Trailer Details Dojo Mode

The mode will let you train against the best in the world, and yourself.

SNK’s latest entry in their fighting series, Samurai Shodown, has been slated to come out June 27th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it seems that date has been moved up to the 25th for the Western release on those platforms (though will remain the 27th for Japan). A new trailer titled 101 was released recently that showed off the new date, as well as detailing a new, innovative take on training mode, called the Dojo.

The 101 trailer, which you can see below, breaks down some of the series’ history and the new game’s mechanics. The big feature here, though, is Dojo mode. While a training mode is nothing particularly special in a fighting game, SNK has taken a special approach here. You can actually train with digital AI ghosts. You can download ghosts of some of the best players out there, or you can even generate an AI ghost that fights just like you. The game will take data of your play style as you play both online and offline to generate this AI, in theory allowing you to see the flaws in your play style as you practice against… yourself.

Samurai Shodown will release June 25th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Q4 2019 for Switch, and at a later date for PC.
