SNK’s promotion of the next installment in their long running fighting series, Samurai Shodown, continues with a new character trailer. Last week we got a look at the cool and reserved Shiki, and this week we go in the opposite direction with the playful French noble, Charlotte.

She is one of the Samurai Showdown originals, being introduced in the first game all the way back in 1993. Charlotte is inspired by Oscar François de Jarjayes from the legendary manga series The Rose of Versailles. She uses a fencing sword and a swift style to match, throwing a rose here and there for good measure. She’s a bit of a fish out of water, being a French noble amongst a group of mostly Asian fighters, but her Japanese seems pretty polished (though she throws in some delicate French near the end).

Samurai Shodown will release June 27th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in Q4 for Switch, and at a later date on PC. If you’re looking for more information, such as previous character reveals and gameplay footage, we’ve got you covered.
