As the first major non-Soulsborne game FromSoftware have worked on in a while (not counting something like Deracine), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is looking like it’s going to be a very different experience from the studio’s past titles. From friendlier tutorials and greater emphasis on exploration, to new progression mechanics and completely new combat system, Sekiro is trying to set itself apart from the Souls game in many ways.
In some ways, though, it’s going to stick closely to what FromSoftware have done in the past. Recently, while speaking in an interview at the Taipei Gameshow (via PlayStation Lifestyle), Sekiro director and FromSoftware chief Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that, similar to Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the upcoming action game would have multiple endings, but that unlike those games, here they would be more intrinsically linked to the story told in the game.
“Sekiro has multiple endings,” said Miyazaki. “It is like in previous games if you want, but this time it’s even more rooted in the story.”
Miyazaki also confirmed that Sekiro will promote replay value in a manner similar to Dark Souls as well, with each subsequent playthrough of the campaign ramping up the difficulty. “Whave included replay value and each run through will get harder,” he said.
Recently, a short new teaser for the game was released which introduced us to an imposing new boss- take a look here. You can also get more information on how the new traversal mechanics in Sekiro will make boss battles more dynamic than ever before through here.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launches on March 22 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
