Eidos Montreal is doing a fair bit of hyping for Shadow of the Tomb Raider before its gameplay reveal at E3 2018. In its latest video, Senior Technical Artist Martin Palko talks behind the scenes about the visual effects and how they’ve been improved.
We get a closer look at effects like fire, water, smoke and so on. Obviously the goal is to deliver more realistic effects utilizing actual physical formulas (fire colour depending on its temperature, for example). Overall, it’s an interesting look for those who can’t wait to see the game next week.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third game in the trilogy that started with Tomb Raider (2013), though it won’t necessarily be the final game featuring this version of Lara Croft. Lara will be battling Trinity but also rush to prevent a doomsday event from occurring. Along with more classic tombs littered with traps, players will also have to make decisions to save NPCs.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is out on September 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
