Though we finally got another look at Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 at Sony’s State of Play presentation couple of weeks ago, we still don’t know when the game will be coming out. PlayStation seemed to confirm the survival horror remake for a 2024 release earlier this year, but with Konami still not having officially given the game a launch window, questions still remain about when the publisher plans to release it.
According to Konami, however, Silent Hill 2’s remake is in the final legs of its production, which would suggest that the game isn’t too far away from release.
Speaking with Famitsu, Motoi Okamoto, Silent Hill series producer at Konami, revealed that the remake is “in the final stages of development”, though he was reluctant to give out more details.
“We are in the final stages of development,” he said (translation via DeepL). “Unfortunately, there is very little I can tell you at this point. As for the game, you can think of it as the Silent Hill 2 you envisioned, but with beautiful visuals that make it easy to play in today’s world and give you the same memories you had in the past.”
Incidentally, this isn’t the first time that we’ve received a similar development update on Silent Hill 2. Within days of the game’s announcement in 2022, developer Bloober Team said it was nearing the end of development, before going on to reiterate that few months later.
In January, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said that marketing for the game would begin in earnest “very soon”.
Whenever Silent Hill 2 launches, it will be available on PS5 and PC.
