Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones, the oft-delayed and possibly cursed naval combat title, will have closed beta from August 24th to 28th. It will be available for PC players via Ubisoft Connect and is invitation only (though players can bring up to two more friends). The beta’s preload starts August 22nd at 3 AM PT and kicks off on August 24th at 7 PM PT before ending at midnight PT on August 28th.
Players can look forward to main campaign contracts, which act as a guide to “build your reputation and discover more about the world”, up to the Exterminate the Rat contract. Of course, there are also bounty contracts, side contracts, repeatable contracts and the Merchant Convoy world event. Completing these activities allows for progressing through Infamy Tiers.
By hitting Buccaneer, you get a ship and “powerful” equipment. Players can also meet each other (via the pirate den in Red Isle, where your journey starts), craft ships and weapons, and store loot. You can also sell riches plundered from targets, meet other factions and discover “hidden” areas to purchase rare items.
Skull and Bones is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. A release date hasn’t been announced.
