Skyrim Remastered Won’t Have Console Commands On PS4 And Xbox One

Which is what we should have expected, to be fair.

PC gaming gives players so many options and ways to control their game experience (in spite of Microsoft’s continued best attempts to lock PC gaming down)- there’s a whole range of settings that console gamers never get. There are mods, and there are console commands, which provide players more direct ways to manipulate their games in multiple ways.

Console games, of course, get none of these. But with Bethesda striving to bring mods to PS4 and Xbox One with their new games even though Sony are doing their best to block the release of mods on their console, one might have started to wonder. Will the console versions of Fallout 4 and Skyrim Remastered get console commands too?

It sounds like they will not. Responding to a fan’s query about this on Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines shot down the idea that this would happen. For now, if you are playing Bethesda games on consoles, you’re stuck with mods as the only way you have to control and change your gameplay experience. Unless you’re playing on PS4, in which case you don’t even have that.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition launches later this month for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
