Skyrim Remastered Won’t Support Save Transfers On PS4 And Xbox One

Which makes some sense, if you think about it.

To all those of you who have spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing Skyrim on your Xbox 360 or PS3, here’s some bad news that you may not necesarily have seen coming- the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition, which is the remaster of Bethesda’s bestselling classic RPG, will not be supporting your older save files.

Speaking on Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed as much, also noting that cross platform save file transfers will not work (if anyone actually expected that to happen, that is).

This does make sense – after all, the data structure is entirely different on Xbox 360 and PS3 versus Xbox One and PS4 (one reason why games like Dragon Age Inquisition did not have any kind of save import function, even when older games in the series did) – but to those fans who have spent so much of their lives playing the original game, the news doubtless comes as a bit of a bummer.
