Skyrim: Special Edition Will Be Free To Play on Xbox One and Steam This Weekend

The Elder Scrolls spoke of their return...

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most popular games of all time, having sold well over 30 million copies worldwide. It is also available on just about every platform at this point, having been released on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC.

However, if you somehow have not actually played the game yet- if you are one of the few people in the world who have an interest in video games and yet never looked into Skyrim– then the good news is, you have a very good excuse to check it out this weekend. The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition, the extensive remaster for the game released last year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, will be available to play for free on the latter two platforms.

That’s not all, either- the game is also available for half price on both systems ($20 on Steam, $30 on Xbox), so if you decide you like it, you can go ahead and actually buy it to keep playing it. All your progress and achievements will carry over into the final game, as well. Skyrim is one of the greatest games ever made, so treat this as a sign from the universe to start playing it if you haven’t already.
