Sony “confident” that PS4 will be released before Xbox 720 – Report

We have fresh news that Sony is preparing to launch its next gen console next year itself. The specs have been finalized according to the memo sent to the developers, sources of VG247 have revealed.

Sony is “confident” about this, and they don’t want Microsoft to beat them again this time like it happened this gen. The PS3 was beaten to the market by Xbox 360, and it arguably cost Sony the NA market, and of course the PS3’s price was a huge factor as well.

So according to this rumour, it looks like Sony won’t be behind Microsoft and will compete on equal footing.

“Sony are completely in the belief that they have the jump on Microsoft this time. You should be watching the timing of next year’s E3 keynotes, and who’s going to go first,” revealed VG247’s sources.

“Top line publishers already know about it. Developers working with publishers – like Ubisoft, for example – already know what’s going on. They’re already working on it.”

The PS4’s specs were leaked recently as well. Earlier we reported that the PS4 was codenamed Orbis and will not play used games. You can check that out over here. The Wii U will be re-revealed at E3 again, and is scheduled for a late 2012 launch. The PS4 and Xbox 720 are scheduled for 2013 launch according to these rumours.
