Spyro: Reignited Trilogy will bring all three original games from the PlayStation era to PS4 and Xbox One later this year, in a similar manner to how Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy did for the original PS1 era Crash games last year. If you want to see just how well the PS1 era games have survived the transition, a brand new video shows off some gameplay.
The gameplay footage is from Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage in the Trilogy package, showing us, specifically, the Hurricos Realm, which is one of the fan favorite levels from the game from back then. As was the case with Crash, Spyro looks great, and it seems as though developers Toys for Bob have done an admirable job in modernizing the games, while also still retaining their distinct visual essence and feel. I do wonder if, like Vicarious Visions and Crash, they didn’t have access to the source code, and had to work backwards though.
You can see the gameplay footage for yourself below. The game is due out on PS4 and Xbox One. No PC and Switch versions have been announced yet, though the official website itself has leaked them previously.
