Nightdive Studios’ Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster will launch on February 28th, 2024, per GameSpot. It’s based on LucasArts’ Star Wars-based first-person shooter from 1995, also released on February 28th for MS-DOS.
The story focuses on Kyle Katarn, who joins the Rebel Alliance and infiltrates the Galactic Empire to learn about the Dark Trooper Project. Though its sequel, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, is probably better known, the original offers some solid first-person shooting in the Star Wars setting. The remaster is done through Nightdive’s KEX engine, supporting resolutions up to 4K and 120 frames per second.
Players can also look forward to improved lighting and rendering, enhanced cutscenes, gamepad support, high-resolution textures, a weapon wheel for managing your arsenal and Trophies/Achievements. The remaster will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC via Steam.
Nightdive is also working on System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition (which received new trailer recently) and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered (releasing on November 14th). Stay tuned for more details on both in the coming months.
