When Stardew Valley was originally announced, years before it was released and became a big sensation, a multiplayer mode for it was promised as well. When the game launched a few years ago, it was missing that multiplayer mode, but we were promised it would be coming. When the game was announced for the Nintendo Switch last year, we would told that the Switch would have timed console exclusivity for the multiplayer mode- which, many took to mean, would imply that the multiplayer mode might come with the Switch version of the game.
The Switch version of the game has been out for almost year now, but there is still no multiplayer mode. Well, the wait is over at last- Today, Chucklefish announced that Stardew Valley will be getting its long awaited multiplayer mode on August 1, for the PC version of the game. The trailer showcasing the multiplayer update ended with a promise that the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game will be getting this update “soon”, too- but without a concrete date, that doesn’t have to mean anything.
Regardless, Stardew Valley is a fantastic game, one which you should play if you have not already. It’s available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS Vita.
