Starfield Developer Hiring Associate Level Designer Familiar With “Open-World Multiplayer Games”

Bethesda Game Studios could be looking at multiplayer for its upcoming sci-fi RPG, or even The Elder Scrolls 6, in the long term.

Bethesda Game Studios is working hard on Starfield, its next massive open-world RPG, with a showcase set for June 11th. Of course, it also has The Elder Scrolls 6 in the works, but it was rumored to target 2025/2026 launch (which may be even further due to Starfield’s delays).

Nevertheless, the developer has long-term plans for both, and that could include multiplayer. A new job listing for Associate Level Designer appeared less than two weeks ago for the Maryland-based studio. Responsibilities include creating “high-quality open world level content,” maintaining “legacy content,” and making “required bug fixes.”

However, it also lists a “strong familiarity with a variety of open-world multiplayer games” in its qualifications. Experience with The Elder Scrolls Construction Set or GECK is also a must.

While it seems like this could be for The Elder Scrolls Online or Fallout 76, the former is handled by ZeniMax Online Studios and the latter primarily by other teams like Bethesda Austin, Double Eleven and Sperasoft. Still, given the existence of ESO, it would make more sense to have multiplayer in Starfield. Space exploration, over 1000 planets and ship customization could lend well to several players.

Starfield is out on September 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Starfield Direct could be 30 minutes long, so expect much more information in June.
