Street Fighter 6 – Capcom Aiming for 10 Million+ Lifetime Sales

Capcom representative director Haruhiro Tsujimoto also confirmed that its future games would support cross-platform play.

Capcom has been massively hyping Street Fighter 6 since its announcement last year. On top of multiple character trailers and reveals, it released free demo for PS4 and PS5, which is also out now for Xbox Series X/S and PC). Speaking to Famitsu magazine (details via ryokutya2089), Capcom representative director Haruhiro Tsujimoto said the company is aiming for over 10 million sales in the game’s lifetime.

Since Street Fighter 5 has sold over seven million copies, then accounting for digital sales, the sequel will aim for 10 million. Tsujimoto also said (translation via DeepL) that the team wanted to do “everything we couldn’t do before with [Street Fighter] 6.”

He also confirmed that future Capcom titles would support cross-platform play and that Exoprimal’s development is to “accumulate know-how for that purpose.” “We believe that we must create titles like Exoprimal, which will be a touchstone for the company’s future direction, at all costs.” Of course, this is good news for, say, the next iteration of Monster Hunter, since cross-play is one of the bigger demands from fans.

As for Street Fighter 6, it launches on June 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Head here for new gameplay of World Tour and Avatar Battles. In addition to 18 characters at launch, it will receive four more characters as DLC in Year 1.
