Street Fighter 6 Producer is “Very Excited” for Players to See Akuma

"He’s awesome looking with lots of great effects," said Capcom's Shuhei Matsumoto with the team "carefully planning" how to present him.

Street Fighter 6 fans can look forward to Ed’s addition to the roster on February 27th. As the third DLC character, his release brings new stage, Ruined Lab, with hints regarding M. Bison’s current state. However, fans are probably looking forward to the arrival of Akuma, the fourth and final DLC character in the Year 1 Pass.

He’s out this Spring, and during IGN Fan Fest, producer Shuhei Matsumoto talked about how he’s “awesome looking” with “lots of great effects.” “There’s not a lot of information we can provide right now, but we’re all very excited for you guys to see him.

“He’s awesome looking with lots of great effects. We’re going to be carefully planning out how we present this character to you guys. So we can’t wait to show you this new character.”

Since it’s several years after Street Fighter 5’s events, it makes sense for Akuma to look older. Based on the concept art revealed thus far, he seemingly resembles Gouken, his brother and the master of Ryu and Ken. How he’ll interact with players remains to be seen, especially if he can become an in-game Master and bestow Satsui no Hado techniques.

Stay tuned for more updates on Akuma in the coming months. Street Fighter 6 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Check out our review here, where we awarded it a 9 out of 10.
