Super Bomberman R Online is Ending Service on December 1st

The free-to-play battle royale title spun-off from Super Bomberman R is shutting down. Microtransactions have been disabled as of today.

Super Bomberman R Online, Konami’s free-to-play battle royale title, is ending service on December 1st. Purchases of Bomber Coins and Premium Packs have closed as of 1 AM UTC today. Any unused Coins should be spent before the service ends.

Released in September 2020 for Google Stadia and then for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in May 2021, Super Bomberman R Online supports up to 64 players. Along with the traditional Bomberman-style gameplay, one could acquire power-ups like the Punching Gloves and the classic Louies. Of course, the Classic style of play is also available for up to 16 players. One could also unlock new outfits, bomb skins and head accessories to customize their avatar.

No particular reason was given for the service’s closure. The the company said “various circumstances” were the cause but it also revealed that the series “is moving forward with new projects.” Konami hopes to announce these soon – stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
