Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury was the biggest new game release last week, so it’s no surprise that the Switch platformer has debuted on top of the weekly UK retail charts (via GamesIndustry)- and it’s done so with very impressive figures. It’s sold nearly thrice as much as launch (and this only includes physical copies) as the original game did when it came out on the Wii U- though, of course, the install bases for the Wii U and the Switch are not comparable in the slightest.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury launch sales fall right in the middle of the table where launch sales for Mario games on the Switch are concerned- higher than the launch sales for Super Mario Maker 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but lower than Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
The other big release last week was Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco’s creepy horror puzzle platformer Little Nightmares 2, which debuts in second place. 43% of its sales came from the PS4, 37% from the Nintendo Switch, and 18% from Xbox One.
