System Shock Remake Has Been Rated for Consoles by the ESRB

Nightdive Studios' remake launched for PC earlier this year, and is also in development for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Nightdive Studios’ remake of System Shock finally launched for PC earlier this year, but of course, console players are still waiting to get their hands on the game. The developer has previously said that the game will arrive for PlayStation and Xbox platforms “in due course”, with no specific launch window having been mentioned, though it seems a more concrete update might be around the corner.

The ESRB has rated System Shock for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Xbox One. Certification ratings generally tend to come close to release, so it’s possible that Nightdive Studios could be gearing up to make an official announcement regarding when System Shock will release for consoles (which might not be too far away either).

Back in June, Nightdive Studios offered brief update on the remake’s console release, saying the game was “running smoothly” on PlayStation and Xbox, but still needed “a few rounds of QA support.”

In our review of the remake, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “The System Shock remake is the best way to experience the original System Shock in all of its glory. While this is a largely faithful remake, the changes it introduces, like the modernized interface and controls, are a welcome change and make System Shock an absolute joy to play.” Read the full review through here.
