The mountain’s a lonely place, with only the clashing of blades against your foes ringing out among serene forests and desolate ruins.

Where Winds Meet 2.0 is now just a week away, and we’re still trying to get over that announcement from a couple of days ago. The “New Wuxia” era of the game is certainly picking a great spot to make a debut, with the Hidden Mountain expansion being a highlight among the upcoming additions.

We’ve just had a closer look at what exploration looks like, and we’re quite impressed. The wind rakes the stony walls of cliff sides before gently throwing up leaves along the ground in lush forests. Getting through them is going to be a test of your traversal skills, and you’re going to have to do that to get to some desolate ruins, where complex mechanics and distinctly doll-themed bosses wait to test your combat abilities.

Getting to the heart of Mohist ingenuity is going to test both your mind and body from the looks of it. Fortunately, this one gives you more than enough spots of serenity to sit down and realign yourself if the need arises. There are glimpses of some of the new bosses, each one looking as deadly as the other, although we’re sure the lot of you are more than up to the task.

It’s a short wait for its release on July 23rd, but the trailer below might make it feel a little longer. It’s still worth a watch, though.

Touted as the "Wuxia New Era," the latest expansion brings several new bosses, a region steeped in "Mohist ingenuity", and more.

Right after releasing a new concept trailer, highlighting the beauty of the Hidden Mountain, Everstone Studio brings the action with a new gameplay trailer for Where Winds Meet. It also confirms that the expansion will become available for all players on July 23rd, so you’d better get to catching up.

After the intrigue and conspiracies of the Imperial Palace, players venture to Mohist Hill, where the “heart of Mohist ingenuity” resides. It’s a far more vertical region than you may expect, which allows for flexing one’s traversal skills, but as the latest trailer showcases, there’s plenty of danger.

There’s a mechanical, insect-like boss who collides with the player using a massive bulkhead, and a serpent-like foe with massive pincers that can ensnare you if you’re not careful. At one point, we even see a group of marionettes attacking the player to the rhythm of their masters, not unlike the Chief Disciple of the Seven Stars from Phantom Blade Zero.

Other fantastical sights await, including piloting a massive mechanical bird amid crumbling architecture in the skies. If it follows the same release pattern as past expansions, then expect its upcoming launch to mark the first “phase” of its rollout. Interestingly, Everstone describes this as “Where Winds Meet 2.0″ and the “Wuxia New Era,” so take that as you will and stay tuned for more details on the content.

The fact that the Hidden Mountain expansion will focus quite a bit on vertical exploration is showcased in some of the gorgeous concept art.

Developer Everstone Studio has released a new trailer for Where Winds Meet, offering a better look at some of the concepts that will shape the title’s upcoming Hidden Mountain expansion. While a release date for the expansion hasn’t yet been announced, the studio has referred to it as a “massive” one, marking the beginning of version 2.0 of the free-to-play RPG.

The Hidden Mountain expansion will take players to Mohist Hill – a region known for its skilled craftsmen. However, getting there will be quite a challenge, since it “hides deep within mountain gorges, behind a roaring waterfall”. The new region is going to feature many secrets for players to discover, with ancient machines of war like siege engines and crossbows waiting to be investigated.

The dramatic narration of the trailer is accompanied by concept artwork for the Hidden Mountain region, which will feature dilapidated ruins that have been reclaimed by the neighboring vegetation, and even a pristine city filled to the brim with impressive feats of engineering, such as a water wheel as big as an entire building.

The narrator describes Mohist City as being “the heart of Mohist ingenuity” that has somehow survived long after the passing of its golden age when “gears roared, waters sang, and scholars’ debates filled the air.”

Much of the concept art shown off in the trailer highlights the fact that the Hidden Mountain expansion will have an emphasis on vertical exploration. The studio’s head of publishing, Eric Zheng, had spoken about this last month.

“Unlike previous regions, this is our first attempt to explore and showcase the beauty of cliffs and summits,” he explained. “To bring this vision to life, we’ve significantly enhanced the region’s atmosphere and environmental detail through three core elements: wind, light, and stone.”

“Dappled sunlight dances across rugged mountainsides, the wind echoes through the forests, and ancient stone paths bear the marks of time. Together, these elements help create a world that feels tangible, immersive, and alive.”

He even brought up some comparisons to the Hexi expansion, noting that while it served as a “tribute to timeless poetry and painting,” the upcoming Hidden Mountain expansion will “honor the ancient sages’ pursuit of reason and the ultimate ‘truth’”.

“This expansion explores a deeper theme: humanity’s pursuit of wisdom and knowledge. Throughout history, countless people have devoted their lives to seeking answers. Whether their conclusions proved right or wrong, their pursuit of knowledge has continued to push humanity forward, inspiring generations across time and expanding the boundaries of what we believe is possible.”

Where Winds Meet is currently in the midst of its Imperial Palace expansion, which brought in quite a bit of new content last month, including brand-new story quests, a bunch of side quests, and even some new bosses that can challenge even the best-geared players out there.

Where Winds Meet is available on PC, PS5, iOS, Xbox Series X/S and Android. For more details, take a look at our review of the base game, where we gave it a score of 9 out of 10.

The console launch coincides with a large update for all versions of the game that introduces a first-person perspective mode.

Starry Studio and NetEase Games have announced that Once Human is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 25th. The release will coincide with the introduction of a first-person perspective mode and full cross-platform multiplayer and progression. Check out the new trailer below.

It kicks things off by showing a character trying to escape from some of the game’s enemies while in first-person mode. As it goes on, it also showcases how the mode will look in actual gameplay, with the player taking on some enemies with guns and even looting for resources. The vehicle system won’t be left behind either, with the character showcased on a bike.

When it comes to performance and visuals, Once Human on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will give players the choice between Quality and Performance modes. The former will deliver 4K visuals at 60 FPS, while the latter will sacrifice some resolution to offer smooth 120 FPS gameplay. There have also been improvements made to the control scheme of the title, with a bespoke controller experience that even makes use of the DualSense’s haptic engine to deliver “distinct low-frequency rumbles for giant monsters, precise trigger resistance during boss battles, and elastic tactile feedback for loot drops.”

While Once Human is a free-to-play game, Starry Studio has kicked off pre-orders for two gift packages for the upcoming console release – the Starter Pack for $9.99 and the Radiance Pack for $14.99. The Starter Pack includes the Black Gold Butterfly cradle skin, 3 Midnight Rave weapon skins, a 30-day Metapass, a special home facility skin, and customization items for the player’s profile. The Radiance Pack includes Outfit Selection featuring 3 character skins, a Premium Battle Pass, a 30-day Metapass, 2 Siderite lottery skins, and an exclusive avatar frame.

The console release date announcement comes just a month after Starry Studio kicked off a beta test on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It included the Novice Scenario, Manibus, Endless Dream, The Way of Winter, and RaidZone scenarios. Content from Visional Wheel S3: Aberrant Progeny was also included. The beta’s release coincided with Starry Studio kicking off an in-game event that would encourage players to provide feedback on the console ports.

Players who have already spent time with the PC, Android, or iOS versions of Once Human can link their game account to their PlayStation or Xbox profiles for a smoother transition between platforms.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release of Once Human was first announced last year, and at the time, Starry Studio had said that the ports would support keyboard and mouse.

Once Human is in the midst of celebrating its second anniversary with the Dreamy Maelstrom event while Season 13 is currently ongoing.

The company has confirmed that players will be able to check their previous stats after servers go down until January 2027.

Nintendo has announced that its long-running mobile spin-off of Mario Kart – Mario Kart Tour – is reaching end-of-service on September 30th. The company announced this through messages in the game, as caught by ResetEra user ZeoVGM, where it also confirmed that there are no plans for an offline version of the game.

“We sincerely thank the many players who have loved and supported the game since service began so long ago,” wrote the company.

Leading up to Mario Kart Tour’s servers going offline, Nintendo will be holding a few special events with their own rewards. Log-In Bonus rewards will give players access to High-End Level-Boost Tickets, High-End points-cap tickets, and rubies. Players can also take on new event challenges to get rewards like golden pipes by completing challenge cards. The in-game store’s prices will be adjusted, giving players access to a variety of cosmetic options in the Mii Racing Suit Shop.

Despite servers going down, Nintendo has confirmed that players will be able to view the stats for their past tours until January 13th, 2027. All-Cup Rankings will also remain visible until September 2027.

Mario Kart Tour was launched on Android and iOS back in 2019. Developed by mobile game maker DeNA, the title was released with only single-player content, with multiplayer coming in the following year. The multiplayer update brought in a host of game modes, allowing players to partake in Standard and Gold races over the Internet, or even challenge friends or other players nearby through local networks.

The title was immensely popular when it first came out, with Nintendo confirming that it had been downloaded more than 90 million times shortly after launch. This was considered a major success in light of other Nintendo mobile titles, like Super Mario Run, which had only been downloaded 13 million times in its launch week. In the same time frame, Mario Kart Tour had made $12.7 million.

While Mario Kart Tour didn’t leave behind much of a legacy, especially when compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, some of the title’s original race tracks did eventually make their way into the Nintendo Switch game through DLC.

Released in 2023, this DLC brought in 48 tracks in total, spread out into six distinct releases with eight tracks each. While many of the tracks were from classic Mario Kart games like Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii or Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Tour’s contribution included Tokyo Blur and Merry Mountain.

Nintendo’s desire to move on from Mario Kart Tour shouldn’t come as a surprise, since the company had stopped making any new content for the game back in 2023. This means that, since then, there have been no new tracks, karts, gliders, or drivers released for the title. Even last year’s release of Mario Kart World didn’t prompt any major update for the mobile game.

In the meantime, Nintendo is fully focused on Mario Kart World, which it reported back in February had sold more than 14 million copies. The title is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The company has confirmed that players will no longer be able to purchase Red Crystals, but can spend what they have in the in-game store.

Square Enix has announced that it is ending support for Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis on October 6th. Leading up to the game’s servers being taken down, players will no longer be able to purchase any Red Crystals from the in-game store. However, they will be free to spend all the Red Crystals that they might have until the servers are taken down.

In the meantime, planned in-game events will continue until October 6th. Square Enix has also said that it plans to delete all of the personal and account information it has from its players once the end-of-service process has been completed. Players residing in Taiwan will also be eligible for refunds on unused in-game currency. More details about these refunds will be revealed on the game’s official website at a later date.

Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis was originally released on Android and iOS in September 2023 and on PC in December 2023. The title was meant to be a way for players to experience iconic moments from the original release of Final Fantasy 7 and its prequel spin-off, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, in a new visual style.

“We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement,” wrote Square Enix as part of its announcement. “Since the launch of the App Store and Google Play versions on September 7, 2023, and the Steam version on December 6, 2023, we have worked to provide the best possible experience for our players. After careful consideration, however, we have determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so and have made the decision to end service.”

When it first came out, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis saw quite a bit of success, with Square Enix confirming that the title had been downloaded 7 million times before even coming out on PC. At the time, it decided to reward players for their interest in the game by giving out a thousand Blue Crystals.

In terms of gameplay, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis featured a fast-paced command-based combat system based on the Active Time Battle system from the original Final Fantasy 7. Players could make use of classic elements, including unique abilities, Materia, summons, and Limit Breaks.

In the meantime, Square Enix is working on wrapping up its Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation in Spring 2027. The title is being developed for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the story will involve characters and events from the original Final Fantasy 7 as well as elements from the title’s various spin-offs.

“Well, at this time it’s best not to say whether Cissnei will appear or not, but there is one thing I can tell you,” explained Hamaguchi in response to a question about whether Cissnei would be showing up again after her last appearance in Rebirth. “This Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is not simply a recreation of the original work, but rather, our goal is to create a single, new Final Fantasy 7 that incorporates the settings and concepts of all the previous spin-off titles, such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. Therefore, the appearance of Cissnei and the inclusion of Dirge of Cerberus Soldiers in the DLC, all have that meaning.”

We also praised developer Night School Studio for its ability to craft a unique idea and make an interesting gameplay loop around it in that one.

Well, the studio is at it again, as it’s working with Netflix to bring us Unhinged, a horror experience like no other. It’s about two neighbors, played by Zoe Kravitz and Sadie Sink, trying to navigate a home invasion. Equally popular is Troy Baker, who plays a currently undisclosed role, but we’re willing to bet that he’s the creepy bad guy in this one.

Even more interesting than the cast is that you’re going to be playing this one on your phone, with the game streaming directly to your TV via Netflix. That means you’ll take calls when it rings, and use its flashlight when the need arises in an interactive gameplay loop that’s probably going to raise a few eyebrows when it’s not raising your blood pressure. It’s a short experience, clocking in at a little under one hour, but that might be more than most of us can manage, considering the dark tone and the fact that its narrative is structured like a very intense Netflix episode.

Director Sam Warner told Rolling Stone that the game was influenced by his time with the Nintendo Wii and DS, besides stating that “novel innovative play” was a facet of the experience that he wanted to highlight. Unhinged is out on June 30th for all Netflix subscribers.

A few leaked assets of popped up of the game, dubbed Project Comet, showcasing its character designs and mobile-centric UI.

Marvel might be working on a new co-op-focused game, this time targeting Android and iOS. A new report indicates that the company is working with mobile game developer Scopely – known for titles like Marvel Strike Force and Star Trek Fleet Command – to make a new Marvel-based mobile game with action gameplay, co-op modes, and gacha systems. According to industry insider Miller Ross, this game is being developed under the name Project Comet, and as of earlier this month, was planned to get a closed test in June.

However, the end of June is approaching, and there have been no details about Project Comet until more recently, when another known leaker, MultiverSusie, posted a few assets of what appears to be an early build of the game. While most of the posts by MultiverSusie include concept art and 3D models from the game, a video gives us a look at in-game UI.

The video features a playable version of X-Men character Juggernaut, along with some UI elements that include on-screen controls for movement, jumping, attacking, and a variety of special abilities. We don’t get a look at what the title’s levels will look like, however, since the clip seems to be from a greybox prototype, lacking any of the environmental assets from Project Comet.

The assets posted by MultiverSusie also indicate that the character design in Project Comet might be taking a cue from Marvel Rivals.

It is worth noting that neither Marvel nor Scopely has made any official announcement regarding Project Comet. As such, few details about the title are available. Even the fact that it might be a mobile game comes down to one of the leaks being a video with on-screen controls, and Scopely’s history of releasing games only on Android and iOS. There is, however, potential for Project Comet to also make its way to PC and consoles, since other gacha games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero have enjoyed success there as well.

In the meantime, Scopely is also rumored to be working on a new project with CD Projekt. Believed to be a new game in The Witcher’s universe, the title is seemingly being developed for PC, iOS, and Android, and will focus on co-op gameplay.

The unnamed project will reportedly take place in the year 1230; since Geralt would still be a young Witcher, the setting is ripe for new player-created Witchers coming in and handling some of the bigger monster infestations. The core gameplay will revolve around players taking on contracts to hunt down monsters.

The combat in this project is rumored to be quite extensive, giving players plenty of choices between the various Witcher schools, as well as the ability to brew potions for combat benefits, and even use Signs like Igni in combat encounters.

Scopely has been working quite hard to grow its business since its acquisition of Niantic’s game development business last year, essentially becoming the owner of Pokémon Go. At the time, the game’s senior product director Michael Steranka said that no sweeping changes are coming, and that Scopely will largely leave it alone so that it doesn’t change what made it a huge success to begin with.

Head of publishing Eric Zheng explains that "this is our first attempt to explore and showcase the beauty of cliffs and summits."

The content never stops for Where Winds Meet, with not one but two multi-part expansions released thus far. July kicks off another with Hidden Mountain, where players venture to Bujian Mountain and interact with the Mohist Sect.

Aside from the new Hand Guard Discipline, which adds a more fist-heavy combat style to the game, very little is known about the expansion’s content. And while Everstone Studio is holding off until it gets closer to launch, it did offer a few teases in an interview with WCCF Tech.

As Eric Zheng, Head of Publishing, explains, “Unlike previous regions, this is our first attempt to explore and showcase the beauty of cliffs and summits. To bring this vision to life, we’ve significantly enhanced the region’s atmosphere and environmental detail through three core elements: wind, light, and stone.

“Dappled sunlight dances across rugged mountainsides, the wind echoes through the forests, and ancient stone paths bear the marks of time. Together, these elements help create a world that feels tangible, immersive, and alive.”

Also, unlike the flatter environments that players have usually traversed, Everstone is aiming to “expand exploration vertically, crafting a multi-layered experience.” It should feel new and exciting, and a significant shift from the chases through the Imperial Palace.

However, the underlying theme for Hidden Mountain is “humanity’s pursuit of wisdom and knowledge.” “If Hexi was a tribute to timeless poetry and painting, then with Bujian Mountain, we want to honor the ancient sages’ pursuit of reason and ultimate ‘truth,'” says Zheng.

There will be a new campaign to venture through, and given the game’s combat-heavy approach, you can expect some challenging new foes, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Where Winds Meet recently launched for Xbox Series X/S, joining the likes of PS5, PC, iOS and Android. The free-to-play open-world action RPG has also crossed 80 million players in its lifetime.

Where Winds Meet Introducing A Homestead and Pets In An Upcoming Update Launching June 25

Well, other titles already gave us some cool companions recently, and we kind of knew this one was coming for a while. It’s very welcome, though!

Where Winds Meet has been riding high on the release of the Imperial Palace expansion, but it seems that Everstone has no intention of slowing down, with the new “Companions Make Home” update now slated for a June 25, 2026, release.

You’re going to be called back to Qinghe for this one to restore the ruins of Blissful Retreat back to its former glory. That’s a welcome task given that this was the place where it all began. Of course, you’re not expected to do it alone, and you get to build a community around your efforts by recruiting locals to assist with the restoration, while you get to design and show off your own residence. Talk about making the best use of real estate. Your Homestead could keep you quite busy once it’s up and running with a host of dedicated activities for you to indulge in.

That’s the “home” part of things taken care of, but it’s the “companions” bit that has us quite eager for this one to drop. Maverick, Scar, and Pudding are three feline friends you can make in The Jianghu, and they’re coming with dynamic behaviours that are probably going to be a factor when you try to befriend them. We’re wondering if it is going to be us adopting them or the other way around. Goldie the goose is swinging by a week later, if birds are more your thing. There’s even going to be a pet battle system, although we can’t see ourselves putting those adorable little ones in any kind of danger.

There are also themed events that bring in popular franchises like Tomb Raider, with some activities that look like they’re going to be as enjoyable as they are challenging to look forward to. There’s a trailer, of course, that we’ve showcased below if you want a closer look at all that’s coming.
