The Mohist’s past and the future are set to collide in a tale for the ages, thanks to some great sights and challenging fights.

It looks like Heaven’s Threshold, the upcoming second chapter of Where Winds Meet’s Hidden Mountain expansion, is bringing more than just an interesting bunch of faces to the table. There are rotating mechanisms that you’ll have to work with to get ahead, along with lush fields, serene plains, beautiful meadows, and crumbling ruins, all of which fill up a world that has us convinced it has so much more to offer.

An explanation of the many creatures you’ll fight would be a good place to start, in our opinion. There are mechanical marvels you get to pilot and fly alongside monstrosities you’ll need to fend off with every bit of skill you can muster. That robotic serpent that transforms into a scarab has us eager to clash our blades with it, while hitting the gong on that aggressive bell has us expecting a feeling of satisfaction like no other.

Of course, new weapons, abilities, and gear are part of the new world. We’re sure you’ll be joining us as we leave no corner unexplored in this new chapter, which blends ethereal beauty and technological flair with aplomb. Chapter 2: Heaven’s Threshold goes live on August 20th – stay tuned for the full patch notes when it does.

The PS5 version already has Advanced and Collector's Editions of Aniimo available, including extra in-game items for the free-to-play game.

Pawprint Studio has announced that its free-to-play creature collection game, Aniimo, is coming to PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Android, and iOS on September 16th. Advanced and Collector’s Editions of Aniimo are also available to pre-order on PS5, with other versions likely getting their pre-orders in the coming weeks.

The Advanced Edition of Aniimo is priced at $9.99, and includes the Fluffy Friend in-game accessory and the Advanced Companion Handbook battle pass. The latter includes an exclusive Prismana Aniimo Egg that can be used at the Outpost Hatchinator to hatch a Prismana Form Aniimo with Perfect Potential, and one Evolution Material that can be used for the branching evolutions for the battle pass-exclusive Aniimo. The Collector’s Edition is priced at $19.99, and along with the contents of the Advanced Edition, also includes an exclusive doll and an exclusive Avatar Frame.

The release date announcement comes just a month after Pawprint Studio hosted a global beta test for Aniimo across PC and mobile. The beta included a variety of features, including multiplayer modes, new Aniimo forms like the Panpanta Prismana form and the Dreaple Prismana form, as well as the social hub with the Nimbi delivery service being enabled.

Just last month, Pawprint Studio released a trailer for Aniimo showcasing the game’s world, its variety of creatures, and even some quick looks at multiplayer gameplay. Much of the trailer was dedicated to showing off the game’s settlement building features, which also seem to include a farming system where players and Aniimo can work together to grow plants and vegetables.

The main hub – a sci-fi city – was also showcased, with plenty of the strange creatures roaming around and even partaking in menial labor, like delivering packages. When it comes to multiplayer, we got to see groups of players heading out into the world together to partake in adventures and more creature collecting. While it wasn’t outright shown in the trailer, Aniimo also includes PvP battles as well as co-op experiences.

Aniimo was unveiled in June last year with a trailer. The title will put players in the shoes of the Pathfinder who sets off on an adventure to explore the world, and along the way, captures and befriends many strange creatures. There has also been plenty of emphasis placed on the ecology of the world of Aniimo, with many of the creatures only evolving depending on the environment they live in. For instance, a water-based Aniimo is more likely to evolve into a form that favors that element.

Players will also have a hand in how their Aniimo evolve, with special material being available that can be used to sway the evolutionary branches one way or another. The studio gave the example of Stellarys, which can be evolved into Celestis during rainy days. This divergent evolution will give Stellarys a special membrane that can be used to store water for its consumption and even for combat use.

For more on Aniimo, check out its gameplay trailer from shortly before the beta kicked off.

The path to possibilities without limit is fraught with complications in the next chapter, and we’re excited for what awaits.

We’ve been enjoying Where Winds Meet’s Hidden Mountain expansion since it dropped a while ago, and it’s hard to believe that the second chapter is almost here.

Heaven’s Threshold is taking the threads set up in the expansion’s first chapter and weaving them with new additions, as the story is shaping up to be quite a tale. There are complex relationships at play, along with battles fought against antagonists who look sinister enough to be a cause for concern, and stakes that justify the need for victory. The Mohist’s history is set to “collide with a new reality”, whatever that entails, and we’re sure that there’s going to be a lot to pique our interest once we begin to engage with whatever the new chapter’s offering.

All in all, it’s the kind of stuff we’ve come to expect from the title, and we’re quite eager to see what new twists it brings to a gameplay loop that’s still as addictive as it was when we first got our hands on it. We’ve left the trailer below for you to watch, and it’s as impressive as it is intriguing.

Where Winds Meet is out now for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, iOS, Android and PC. Stay tuned for more details on Hidden Mountain’s next chapter in the coming days.

The company's booths at TGS 2026 will also feature other games, including Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 and One Piece: Grand Gourmet.

Bandai Namco has unveiled its lineup for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026 with a new page on its website. While the company doesn’t have any major announcements planned for the event, it will feature a variety of its upcoming games in the form of playable demos.

Headlining the company’s presence at TGS 2026 will be Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. The title will be playable, its kiosks will offer freebies, and there will be a pre-order campaign at the event. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, One Piece: Grand Gourmet, and Bleach: Mirrors High will also be playable. Tales of Eternia Remastered, while present at the booth, will only have a pre-order campaign, and no playable demos seem to be planned.

At the Bandai Namco Booth in the Family Game Park, the company will include playable versions of Once Upon a Katamari and Tamagotchi Plaza’s Nintendo Switch 2 release.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 is slated to kick off on September 17th and will run until the 21st. Japan’s Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association released a video back in May teasing the event, featuring visuals created by illustrator Zashikiwarashi. On social media, the organizers have also described TGS 2026 as being the longest iteration of the yearly event so far, with 5 days of “non-stop fun” to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

“This year, through reviewing exhibition hall layouts and dispersing large-scale booths in pursuit of maximizing and optimizing exhibition space, we are making it possible for even more companies to exhibit,” said the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association.

“In addition to game fans and business professionals, we are planning to actively invite domestic and international press and influencers, making this an excellent opportunity to promote exhibitors’ products globally.”

In announcing TGS 2026, the organizers had confirmed that last year’s version of the event was also incredibly successful. Its first two days, designated as business days open for people in the industry, saw 52,352 and 54,779 attendees, respectively. The following two days, designated as general public days, garnered 77,415 and 78,555 attendees.

When compared to 2024’s Tokyo Game Show, however, the 2025 version saw slightly fewer attendees. The former got a total of 274,739 people showing up. Despite this, however, both events were considered part of a general upward trend for the yearly show, even when compared with the 2023 edition.

While not too many companies have confirmed whether or not they will be showing up at Tokyo Game Show 2026 as of yet, we are likely to see at least the major Japanese companies hosting their own exhibits, like Capcom, Sega, Square Enix, and potentially even Nintendo. Last year’s TGS saw Capcom offer playable demos for the highly-anticipated Resident Evil Requiem. If we see the trend continue, this year’s iteration will likely mark one of the few times Resident Evil Veronica is playable before its 2027 release.

We might also end up seeing more Western companies making their presence known at TGS 2026, especially after last year’s event saw Microsoft officially unveil Forza Horizon 6, which uses Japan as its main setting.

The title is being designed the be playable on mobile devices from the ground up, while still maintaining the core gameplay of Palworld.

Garena has announced that it has entered a licensing agreement with Palworld developer Pocketpair to develop a new MMORPG based on the creature-collecting survival crafting game. Dubbed Palworld Online, the title is currently in development for Android and iOS, and is slated for release later this year.

Palworld Online is being designed to “reimagine” elements of the original Palworld while being designed from the ground up for mobile devices. Being an MMORPG, it will also feature an interconnected open world where players can run into one another as they go about their creature-collecting adventure. This also means that players can form groups to take on the game’s various quests and missions as a team.

Garena president Terry Zhao said in a statement that the team is working closely with Pocketpair with a focus on “preserving the depth, immersion, and freedom that define Palworld, while thoughtfully optimizing the experience for mobile play.” The decision to make Palworld Online came about thanks to the original Palworld being “a widely recognized IP” that offers “an opportunity to bring the essence of the PC title to mobile in a way that encourages players to connect and venture together.”

The open world of Palworld Online will allow players to explore interconnected ecosystems alongside their Pals, rewarding their efforts with hidden treasures, hints about the overall lore, and even more challenging encounters. Along the way, players can also capture and raise Pals to unlock new regions on the map. The title will include exclusive side stories that will tell more of the world’s story.

As for its multiplayer aspects, Palworld Online is mainly designed around co-op play. This means that it will include social features like creating groups and building up shared settlements. However, this doesn’t mean that there will be a complete absence of PvP. Players can challenge each other in battle to prove who among them is the best player with the most well-defined team of Pals.

Palworld Online won’t stray away from the survival crafting aspects of the original. Players can set up their own settlements that can eventually be grown into large collaborative hubs where many can come together to craft and train. The automation mechanics of Palworld will also be brought in, giving players more freedom to partake in other gameplay systems while their Pals handle the gathering, crafting, and building.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has praised Garena for its extensive experience with mobile games, including aspects like global publishing and localization. “We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online and look forward to seeing a new Palworld experience brought to players Worldwide.”

The unveiling of Palworld Online comes less than a month after Palworld exited Early Access. In our review of the full release, we gave it a score of 9 out of 10 thanks to its sense of charm, visual style, and engaging core gameplay loop that offers plenty of variety. Our only problem was that it doesn’t do much with its narrative. Reports have indicated that the title has been quite successful, having made around $700 million in revenue since it first came out in 2024.

The expansion introduces a host of new content to the free-to-play games, including new world bosses and an entirely new weapon type.

The Hidden Mountain expansion for Where Winds Meet is now live. Celebrating the launch, developer Everstone Studio has released a brand-new trailer that you can check out below. Along with this, the studio has also revealed details about all of the new content coming to the free-to-play open-world RPG.

To reach the new zone of the Hidden Mountain expansion – dubbed Unseen Approach – players will have to reach level 32 and complete the quest Hidden Mountain Main Chapter 2: Haven Astray. The area has been described as one shrouded in mystery and folklore, with some even saying that it has been possessed by a spirit that doesn’t want to be found.

On getting to the Unseen Approach, players will find suspended walkways across massive heights, with the hum of machinery being faintly audible in the distance. Their ascent will be helped with “ingenious devices of iron and wood” that “coexist with maple groves and seas of flowers.” Exploring the zone will give players plenty of rewards, including earrings and nameplates.

The story quest for Hidden Mountain will be available for players who have finished Kaifeng Main Chapter 1: New Arrival in Kaifeng – The Welcoming Crowd. Its story will revolve around the mysteries of the eponymous Hidden Mountain, and will serve as a prelude to the Hidden Mountain Main Chapter: Bringer of Embers quest.

Players looking forward to unlocking more lore can kick off the Jianghu Legacy quest line for the expansion with Volume 1: Mountain Unveiled. The only prerequisite here is the acquisition of the Wulin Journal for Hidden Mountain. Further stories about Hidden Mountain will be unveiled when Volume 2: A Flourishing Legacy arrives on August 6th.

Those looking for a challenge can take on a host of new World Bosses – the duo of Ci & Cuo and the Ironheart Centipede. Ci & Cuo are a pair of puppets that live beneath the lake. The first challenge will be to kick off the encounter, since the duo has been described as being elusive. Beating Ci & Cuo for the first time will reward players with accessory Radiant Charm, Inner Way Note: Custom Chest, Medicinal Tales, and Echo Jade, among other things. More rewards can be earned by completing various challenges associated with the boss.

Ironheart Centipede is a fearsome combination of self-moving cauldrons, with each one being capable of emitting strange sounds thanks to the presence of a “mechanism bug”. Originally created to take on venomous creatures in the mountains, the Ironheart Centipede has since been forgotten. Despite originally being benevolent, the boss will likely offer quite a bit of challenge. Like Ci & Cuo, it also offers unique rewards through defeats and challenges.

Finally, the expansion also introduces a new weapon type: Gauntlets. The close-quarters weapon was designed around the concept of “Edge of Chivalry” and the “Pinnacle of Righteousness” as described by Mohist teachings in the world of Where Winds Meet. Players can access the weapon through a number of ways, like joining the new Mohist Hill sect or visiting the Universal Love Shop. The weapon also features its own martial arts that can be earned through various activities.

Everstone Studio has confirmed that more updates are coming to Where Winds Meet as part of the Hidden Mountain expansion that will introduce more new zones to explore, campaigns to clear, world bosses to fight, and a main story to continue.

The trailer gives us a quick look at some gameplay from the 2-on-2 fighting game, and confirms that quite a few characters will be in the roster, including John Constantine, Nightwing, Poison Ivy, Blue Beetle, and Harley Quinn alongside the franchise stalwarts like Batman, Robin, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

As one would expect from a tag fighter, DCKO will allow players to mix-and-match combos from their two characters, seamlessly flowing in and out of various attacks. If you don’t quite want to tag your character out, the second character can also be called in for quick assist moves. However, since no HUD was shown throughout the trailer, it is difficult to tell whether DCKO will make use of a cooldown system or if there are other gameplay mechanics just yet.

Drop Fake has confirmed that DCKO will feature PvE missions for players interested in single-player content, as well as real-time PvP multiplayer matches. The announcement places quite a bit of emphasis on the idea that it will be a “pick up and play” experience that allows newcomers to keep up with those more experienced with the fighting game genre thanks to easy-to-understand gameplay.

As both Drop Fake and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment put it, DCKO will be the first of the latter’s mobile fighting games to feature online PvP, complete with leaderboards and ranked ladders. Along the way, players will also get to unlock new abilities and stat boosts, tying into a progression system for their character of choice.

Interestingly, players can spend time in the PvE mode to take on various enemies from throughout the DC comics, and the rewards earned here can also be used in PvP modes, including currency and character XP. The mode will also allow players to unlock new costumes for their characters.

“It was important to us that DCKO represented a significant leap forward for the fighting game genre on mobile,” said creative director Gene Campbell. “Live multiplayer games between players are core to the spirit of fighting games, and we are proud of the work we’ve done to bring this feature to mobile comic book fighters for the first time. We want to nurture a healthy, competitive scene for this game and will share more on that in the future. Our team is very experienced in delivering games that comic book fans adore, and we can’t wait to hear everyone’s feedback on DCKO when we launch next year.”

Visually, DCKO makes use of what is referred to as a “Neo-Comic” art style, with the intention being to make the characters look as close as possible to their comic book counterparts. There will also be plenty of stages to fight in, including Themiscyra, the Batcave, and the Lazarus Pits.

The mountain’s a lonely place, with only the clashing of blades against your foes ringing out among serene forests and desolate ruins.

Where Winds Meet 2.0 is now just a week away, and we’re still trying to get over that announcement from a couple of days ago. The “New Wuxia” era of the game is certainly picking a great spot to make a debut, with the Hidden Mountain expansion being a highlight among the upcoming additions.

We’ve just had a closer look at what exploration looks like, and we’re quite impressed. The wind rakes the stony walls of cliff sides before gently throwing up leaves along the ground in lush forests. Getting through them is going to be a test of your traversal skills, and you’re going to have to do that to get to some desolate ruins, where complex mechanics and distinctly doll-themed bosses wait to test your combat abilities.

Getting to the heart of Mohist ingenuity is going to test both your mind and body from the looks of it. Fortunately, this one gives you more than enough spots of serenity to sit down and realign yourself if the need arises. There are glimpses of some of the new bosses, each one looking as deadly as the other, although we’re sure the lot of you are more than up to the task.

It’s a short wait for its release on July 23rd, but the trailer below might make it feel a little longer. It’s still worth a watch, though.

Touted as the "Wuxia New Era," the latest expansion brings several new bosses, a region steeped in "Mohist ingenuity", and more.

Right after releasing a new concept trailer, highlighting the beauty of the Hidden Mountain, Everstone Studio brings the action with a new gameplay trailer for Where Winds Meet. It also confirms that the expansion will become available for all players on July 23rd, so you’d better get to catching up.

After the intrigue and conspiracies of the Imperial Palace, players venture to Mohist Hill, where the “heart of Mohist ingenuity” resides. It’s a far more vertical region than you may expect, which allows for flexing one’s traversal skills, but as the latest trailer showcases, there’s plenty of danger.

There’s a mechanical, insect-like boss who collides with the player using a massive bulkhead, and a serpent-like foe with massive pincers that can ensnare you if you’re not careful. At one point, we even see a group of marionettes attacking the player to the rhythm of their masters, not unlike the Chief Disciple of the Seven Stars from Phantom Blade Zero.

Other fantastical sights await, including piloting a massive mechanical bird amid crumbling architecture in the skies. If it follows the same release pattern as past expansions, then expect its upcoming launch to mark the first “phase” of its rollout. Interestingly, Everstone describes this as “Where Winds Meet 2.0″ and the “Wuxia New Era,” so take that as you will and stay tuned for more details on the content.

The fact that the Hidden Mountain expansion will focus quite a bit on vertical exploration is showcased in some of the gorgeous concept art.

Developer Everstone Studio has released a new trailer for Where Winds Meet, offering a better look at some of the concepts that will shape the title’s upcoming Hidden Mountain expansion. While a release date for the expansion hasn’t yet been announced, the studio has referred to it as a “massive” one, marking the beginning of version 2.0 of the free-to-play RPG.

The Hidden Mountain expansion will take players to Mohist Hill – a region known for its skilled craftsmen. However, getting there will be quite a challenge, since it “hides deep within mountain gorges, behind a roaring waterfall”. The new region is going to feature many secrets for players to discover, with ancient machines of war like siege engines and crossbows waiting to be investigated.

The dramatic narration of the trailer is accompanied by concept artwork for the Hidden Mountain region, which will feature dilapidated ruins that have been reclaimed by the neighboring vegetation, and even a pristine city filled to the brim with impressive feats of engineering, such as a water wheel as big as an entire building.

The narrator describes Mohist City as being “the heart of Mohist ingenuity” that has somehow survived long after the passing of its golden age when “gears roared, waters sang, and scholars’ debates filled the air.”

Much of the concept art shown off in the trailer highlights the fact that the Hidden Mountain expansion will have an emphasis on vertical exploration. The studio’s head of publishing, Eric Zheng, had spoken about this last month.

“Unlike previous regions, this is our first attempt to explore and showcase the beauty of cliffs and summits,” he explained. “To bring this vision to life, we’ve significantly enhanced the region’s atmosphere and environmental detail through three core elements: wind, light, and stone.”

“Dappled sunlight dances across rugged mountainsides, the wind echoes through the forests, and ancient stone paths bear the marks of time. Together, these elements help create a world that feels tangible, immersive, and alive.”

He even brought up some comparisons to the Hexi expansion, noting that while it served as a “tribute to timeless poetry and painting,” the upcoming Hidden Mountain expansion will “honor the ancient sages’ pursuit of reason and the ultimate ‘truth’”.

“This expansion explores a deeper theme: humanity’s pursuit of wisdom and knowledge. Throughout history, countless people have devoted their lives to seeking answers. Whether their conclusions proved right or wrong, their pursuit of knowledge has continued to push humanity forward, inspiring generations across time and expanding the boundaries of what we believe is possible.”

Where Winds Meet is currently in the midst of its Imperial Palace expansion, which brought in quite a bit of new content last month, including brand-new story quests, a bunch of side quests, and even some new bosses that can challenge even the best-geared players out there.

Where Winds Meet is available on PC, PS5, iOS, Xbox Series X/S and Android. For more details, take a look at our review of the base game, where we gave it a score of 9 out of 10.
