The collaboration adds three new accessories to Atelier Sophie 2 – Alphen’s Iron Mask, the Owl King Doll and Shionne’s Hair Ornament. These can be equipped and used throughout the game, whether you’re exploring or battling. Tales of Arise players receive the Starguide Staff weapon skin for Dohalim, the Hunting Rifle skin for Shionne, and Sophie’s Flower Hair Clip for all characters.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is playable on PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. Tales of Arise is available for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. For those expecting an expansion or sequel for the latter, producer Yusuke Tomiwaza recently told EDGE that neither was planned.

Instead, the developer is looking to “come up with a cutting-edge flagship title that builds on the success of Arise, while also providing an opportunity to rediscover the history of the series.” It’s going to be a while before a brand new game releases so stay tuned for any more updates to Tales of Arise.

Along with meeting different characters, like the alchemist Ramizel, Sophie will encounter various enemies and craft items to do battle. Battles can have six members divided into two teams, each offering unique advantages for the player, and the new Dual Trigger skills allow for two characters to attack at once. The Panel Synthesis system also returns, allowing one to slot items into certain panels to create powerful effects.

While adventuring, players can change the weather in each region to open previously closed off areas. This could potentially lead to new materials and thus new items. Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is available for PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Weather Control, which was available in some of the older games, returns. Using Dreamscape Stones, one can change the weather to help bypass certain obstacles along with uncovering new gathering spots. Speaking of which, there are Magic Gathering Spots which allow for obtaining superior materials. Using the right tool initiates a special mini-game – like destroying targets with the slingshot in a set time limit, catching a certain number of fish, etc.

In the midst of this land of dreams is Elvira, its creator. While Sophie does eventually reunite with her friend Plachta, things aren’t as they seem. Why did Elvira create Erde Wiege and what is her role in Plachta’s state? We’ll find out when Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream releases on February 25th 2022 for PS4, PS5 and PC.
