The Blizzard-focused event/convention will take place on September 12th and 13th next year after skipping 2024 and 2025.

Rally the Alliance (or Horde, if you swing that way): BlizzCon is making its long-awaited return on September 12th and 13th in 2026. Tickets for the Blizzard Entertainment-focused convention will become available on November 7th at 9 AM PST via Tixr until November 9th at midnight PST.

You can pick up Early Bird Tickets for $249.99, with each account able to purchase four tickets. If you happen to miss out, don’t worry – November 8th sees another wave of tickets becoming available for $289.99.

Next year’s show is auspicious because it will be the first BlizzCon held since 2023, following the cancellation of the event in 2024 and 2025. It remains a hub for activities related to the fandom, including cosplay competitions, esports tournaments and developer panels.

However, it’s also where you can expect major reveals (or, in the case of Diablo Immortal, crushing disappointments). Blizzard hasn’t outlined everything that fans can expect from next year’s show, but you’ll more than likely hear about what’s coming to Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and much more in the Opening Ceremony.

The convention will feature the classic Opening Ceremony, hands-on gameplay, in-depth panels and "friendly competition" for attendees.

BlizzCon is returning next year, occurring at the Anaheim Convention Center in California from September 12th to 13th. It will be Blizzard Entertainment’s first convention since it cancelled last year’s event.

It’ll be a while until the developer can discuss the games that will appear, but it confirmed the return of the Opening Ceremony and in-depth panels. Attendees can look forward to hands-on gameplay, the Darkmoon Faire, and “friendly competition.” According to Blizzard, the goal is to “meaningfully elevate this iconic celebration and create an unforgettable experience for all who take part in it.

“We are building this event just like we build our games: with a deep commitment to our players, with respect for your connections to our universes, and as a celebration of the strength of the bonds formed through shared adventure.”

It’s likely that BlizzCon staples like the cosplay competition and esports events will also occur, though they’ve yet to be confirmed. As it stands, the company is seeing moderate success under Microsoft, with Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft and Diablo 4 receiving regular support. So it’s a safe bet that all three will appear in some capacity next year.

We may even see some older franchises like StarCraft reappear if it doesn’t get any announcements this year. Stay tuned for potential updates in the meantime.

"While we have great things to share in 2024, the timing just doesn’t line up for one single event at the end of the year," the company says.

With Blizzard Entertainment having several major upcoming releases in the works, many had expected that the company would have a lot to say at BlizzCon later this year. Recently, however, it was announced that Blizzard had decided not to host the event in 2024. With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard having gone through last year, there were some who wondered if it was Blizzard’s new parent company that made the decision to not go ahead with a BlizzCon event this year, but apparently that wasn’t the case.

In a statement provided to Windows Central, a Blizzard Entertainment representative confirmed that cancelling BlizzCon 2024 was Blizzard’s own decision’s, not Microsoft’s, with the company feeling that though it has plenty to share throughout this year, the timing “just doesn’t line up for one single event.”

“This is a Blizzard decision,” said the Blizzard rep. “We have explored different event formats in the past and this isn’t the first time we’re skipping BlizzCon or trying something new. While we have great things to share in 2024, the timing just doesn’t line up for one single event at the end of the year.”

Looking ahead, Blizzard Entertainment will be releasing Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and World of Warcraft: The War Within later this year, and the company plans to highlight them individually.

“Instead, we want to focus on highlighting individual games and their moments – Warcraft’s multiple anniversaries, the upcoming releases of World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred in particular,” the Blizzard rep said.

BlizzCon is returning as an in-person even for the first time since 2019, Blizzard Entertainment has announced.

The summer of 2023 is looking packed with major gaming events, with the likes of the PlayStation Showcase, Xbox Games Showcase, Summer Game Fest, and many others are scheduled for the coming weeks, but more will of course be following later on in the year. As Blizzard Entertainment has previously suggested, one of them will be BlizzCon.

After having been cancelled for two out of the last three years and having been an online-only event for one of them, Blizzard has announced that BlizzCon will be returning as a physical event to the Anaheim Convention Center on November 3-4. The developer says it will be sharing more details about the show next month, including ticketing information, cosplay and other competition details, and more.

BlizzCon has, of course, been host to a number of major announcements by Blizzard Entertainment over the years, and as the first BlizzCon since 2019, one would expect the company will have plenty in store for this year as well.

By the time the event comes around, the developer will have a number of major ongoing games to talk about, including the likes of Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Classic, and Diablo Immortal. Whether we also end up hearing about completely new titles remains to be seen.

Blizzard wants to bring BlizzCon back, but it's not going to happen this year due to the " ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic."

In-person events are beginning to come back, but the COVID-19 pandemic is still keeping many of them from happening. This year’s BlizzCon is the latest event to be affected. Blizzard announced that it would not be holding the event this year in a statement posted on the company’s website.

The company emphasized how much preparation goes into an event like BlizzCon, requiring work from not only Blizzard but their production partners and “other collaborators [Blizzard] teams up with locally and globally to put all of the pieces together” before revealing that due the event would not be taking place this year. “The ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to properly move forward on many of these fronts, and ultimately we’re now past the point where we’d be able to develop the kind of event we’d want to create for you in November,” wrote Saralyn Smith, Executive Producer of BlizzCon.

While there won’t be a BlizzCon this year, Blizzard is still planning to hold an online event similar to last year’s BlizzCon Online. Smith didn’t give specifics, but said that the event would be “combining an online show along the lines of our recent BlizzConline with smaller in-person gatherings, and we’ll share more as our plans come together.”

It’s probably for the best, especially since Blizzard may not have much to reveal about Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4 as they aren’t releasing this year, though those aren’t the only games the studio is working on.

“Fans are letting us know what they want us to be working on. Loudly.”

Diablo: Immortal was met with all the rage and fury of its fans when it was announced recently, and a lot of that had to do with Blizzard simply not reading the room right. After teasing fans with the prospect of a Diablo 4 all year long (even though they did eventually try to temper those expectations), all they had to show was a mobile game outsourced to a company known for making poor Diablo knock-offs. It’s no wonder fans were so angry about it.

That said, Blizzard apparently did try to have something related to Diablo 4, or really, any mainline Diablo game, at BlizzCon this year. Speaking to GameDaily, and responding to a lamentation about the lack of any new news about a new mainline Diablo game at the event this year, Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham simply had this to say: “We tried.”

Which at first glance is contradictory to Blizzard’s insistence that Diablo 4 was never meant to be a BlizzCon announcement, but not necessarily so when you think about it—it is entirely possible that the intention had been to have Diablo 4 for the event, but when it became clear that that would not be possible well in advance, it was never officially planned for the show to begin with

That said, while the intensity of the reaction to its announcement may have been unexpected, Blizzard doesn’t begrudge how angry fans got at Diablo: Immortal, or its status as the show closer for BlizzCon. “[Fans are] letting us know what they want us to be working on. Loudly,” he said.

Hopefully, what fans want Blizzard to be working on is what Blizzard is working on, and hopefully, we get to see more of it some time soon. Diablo 3 is available now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, while Diablo: Immortal will launch on iOS and Android at some point in the future.

Classic Warcraft fans really seem to be in for a treat next year.

After spending years telling fans that they didn’t really want classic World of Warcraft (i.e., the game as it used to be pre-expansions), Blizzard finally capitulated and announced World of Warcraft Classic, which is exactly what the name sounds like—an official server that will host World of Warcraft as it used to be back in the day.

Today, at Blizzcon, Blizzard announced more details about World of Warcraft Classic, including that it will be out in 2019 (which is pretty soon!), and that it will be free for all current subscribers. This is definitely good news, and probably not somenthing that a lot of people may have been expecting—basically, as long as you subscribe, you can now bounce back and forth between classic and modern World of Warcraft. That’s pretty cool of Blizzard. Fans of old school Warcraft are just going to be served well next year between this and the newly announced Warcraft 3 Reforged.

Of course, you may just want to play modern World of Warcraft. In that case, make sure to check out our review for the Battle for Azeroth expansion, to know what you are getting into.

I’m sure literally no fan saw this one coming...

Blizzard arguably makes the best CG visuals in the industry. While their actual dialog and storytelling leaves a lot to be desired, their CG visuals are so hype inducing and fantastic, they’ve become iconic over the years (we all remember, I am sure, “Hell, it’s about time”).

Today, during Blizzcon, the company showed off a brand new cinematic for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, the newest expansion for the long running MMORPG that only came out recently, which develops the story of the saga further.

Among other things, it includes what I am sure Blizzard hopes is a shock for a lot of people, but which I think is a plot twist a lot of fans totally called. I won’t get into exactly what it is, but it deals with someone being not quite as good and/or evil as you may have thought they were.

You can check out the cinematic for yourself below.

The convention itself begins on November 4.

This year’s BlizzCon, the PC gaming giant’s annual convention, will begin on November 4, and take place in Anaheim, California, Blizzard confirmed today in a release. This year’s BlizzCon should be a special one, as it marks Blizzard’s 25th anniversary.

Tickets for the convention will cost $199 (which is expensive as hell, but worth it for Blizzard fans to make their annual pilgrimage), and they will be available in two batches on April 20 and April 23. Blizzard will open sales for the first batch on Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. PT, while the second batch will go live Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. PT.

This year’s BlizzCon should see World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch all get the time in the sun, via two days’ worth of get togethers, panels, and gaming tournaments. New announcements, including new game announcements, are also not out of the question.

Whatever it is that Blizzard announces, we will be there to cover it for you. Stay tuned.

Will be playable at BlizzCon.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, the expansion for the troubled third installment in Blizzard’s storied franchise, will be hitting the PlayStation 4, Blizzard has confirmed, and it will be making its public debut at Blizzcon, where it will also be fully playable.

The Blizzcon PS4 demo will have players explore the haunted streets of Westmarch as one of our five original classes, or test their mettle as the unyielding Crusader. Blizzard is promising innovative controls for the game using the DualShock 4, and its touchpad technology, as well as some unique social features, utilizing the extent of PS4’s connectedness.

Blizzcon 2013 will start on November 8 2013, and then continue on through the weekend. Many major announcements are expected, including the next Starcraft II expansion after this year’s excellent Heart of the Swarm, the next World of Warcraft expansion, details on Blizzard’s MOBA, and maybe a look at their upcoming MMORPG. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.
