Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 Aren’t the Only Games Blizzard is Working on

"Folks across the world will be seeing before too long what we're up to," says World of Warcraft director Ion Hazzikostas.

Blizzard’s stock has definitely fallen in recent years, and the company that was once one of the best developers of games in the industry has made more than a few mistakes of late, while high-profile departures from the studio certainly haven’t helped public consensus. With the likes of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 coming up, however, fans are hoping that they’ll soon get back to their best.

But that’s not the only thing they’re working on. IGN recently published a report on the company and the issues that it has been facing, in which they also spoke with several developers at Blizzard. And according to World of Warcraft director Ion Hazzikostas, Blizzard is working on more games besides Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 that they will be talking about “before too long” that, according to him, will help Blizzard “turn the corner into a really exciting time.”

“We are about to turn the corner into a really exciting time,” Hazzikostas said. “I think Blizzard has long development cycles. The games that we make are not games that are produced and turned around quickly in a year or two. People have seen what’s in the works with Diablo 4, with Overwatch 2, and are incredibly excited about both of those games. […] [W]e have other projects that are in the works, and I think, you know, folks across the world will be seeing before too long what we’re up to, and I can’t wait to share that with them.”

One would assume that one of these projects is the next expansion for World of Warcraft, but it should be interesting to see what else the company has cooking up. It’s undeniable that Blizzard hasn’t been at its best for a while now, so let’s hope Hazzikostas’ optimism isn’t misguided.
