Play as Ro Laren, who ends up stuck on a planet inhabited by a strange consciousness and fights to survive against all odds.

From a multiplayer gore fest in SAW: Genesis to a new story DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team has been quite busy this weekend. However, it had one more announcement, this time with the newly formed Paramount Games Studio, and it’s none other than a new Star Trek title.

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier doesn’t have a release date, but it’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The story focuses on Ro Laren, a Starfleet commander who had a prominent role in Star Trek: The New Generation. Michelle Forbes returns to reprise her role as Ro in this “mature, story-driven, third-person action-adventure.”

Stranded on a strange world, a “consciousness” of sorts seems to inhabit it, and it’s responsible for messing with her mind. She’ll need to learn everything there is to know about it to survive, which isn’t that easy when even the “Creatures” are out to get you. Of course, you can choose to either fight using the classic Phaser or flee. The Tricorder also comes in handy for analysing the surroundings and potentially avoiding any hazards.

While it does give off horror vibes, Bloober Team is seemingly aiming for a more psychological thriller. It’s an intriguing approach, especially since we haven’t seen many darker entries in the Star Trek franchise, so stay tuned for future updates.

The Warden is the protagonist this time, as players control him during the Pathfinder days to try to find someone important.

One of the worst-kept secrets heading into the Summer of Gaming, Bloober Team’s Cronos: Lazarus has finally been announced. As previously claimed, it’s DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn launching this Fall for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Instead of Traveler ND-3576, you’ll control the Warden. Or rather, the Warden before he assumed that role, i.e. the Pathfinder. After the Collective effectively leaves him for dead, he seeks out someone important – a “lost Essence” that he’s not keen to let go.

And while he’s not quite at 100 percent, the Pathfinder is still a powerful opponent. He favors a more aggressive playstyle and possesses unique abilities, including creating a decoy and turning invisible for a period to get the drop on foes. He’ll need all of this and more to surge ahead, especially since Bloober Team promises “even harsher challenges” than before.

That includes a pursuer, one tasked by the Collective to eliminate the Pathfinder. Of course, as you progress through Lazarus, you’ll learn more about his past and what ultimately shaped him into the Warden. Given the lengths he’s willing to go, it can’t be anything pleasant.

Cronos: Lazarus doesn’t have a price yet, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming months. Check out our thoughts on the base game in the meantime. A free demo is also available on all platforms for those who want to try before buying.

Could this one be a fresh look at what befell the Travellers, or perhaps a look into what made the Orphans? Your guess is as good as ours.

The hype around Cronos: Lazarus is only growing ever since it was accidentally revealed to exist, and that it’s going to be a part of the upcoming IGN Live.

However, details have been scarce, and speculation rife about whether this would be an expansion to Cronos: The New Dawn, or a whole new title altogether. Well, a couple of tweets from leaker intercelluar indicate that it’s the former.

That makes sense given the success of The New Dawn, a title we found quite impressive in how it presented its horror elements and world. The story was no slouch either, presenting a take on human greed, apathy, and the hope for a better tomorrow that was not only insightful but deliciously nuanced. There’s a reason it scored high in our review, after all.

While we’re taking the tweets with a grain of salt until we hear an official announcement, we can’t help but wonder if the leaked images hint at playing as ND-F077, who would become the Warden. What ultimately shaped his journey?

We’d be delighted if the outcome was somehow connected to the apocalypse that has befallen post-apocalyptic Poland, but of course, that’s just speculation at this point. The good news is that we won’t have to wait too long to find out if we’re right, so stay tuned for updates later this week.

After reportedly appearing as part of a social media event in China, Bloober Team's new title is part of the upcoming IGN Live.

It’s always a bummer when your big announcement is revealed before an upcoming showcase, especially when it’s something like Bloober Team’s Cronos: Lazarus. For those who are doubtful that it actually existed after the logo reportedly appeared at a social media event in China, IGN has outright listed the title for its upcoming Live event.

Taking place on June 6th and 7th, the line-up also includes Control Resonant getting some updates from creative director Mikael Kasurinen; Lara Croft actor Alix Wilton Regan going behind the scenes with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis; and a bevvy of other titles, including The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and more.

As for Cronos: Lazarus, it’s assumed to be a new entry in the sci-fi survival horror series, which debuted last year with Cronos: The New Dawn. The latter saw strong critical acclaim and sold 500,000 copies as of November.

For its part, Bloober Team teased its existence last April, but also said last year that a sequel wasn’t planned. Perhaps it’s a standalone expansion or even a spin-off to the original, which presents a new perspective (or at least ties up any loose ends). Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details and check out our review for the base game here.

A new title in the sci-fi survival horror franchise or an expansion? We could find out at one of the many showcases in the coming weeks.

Remember when Bloober Team teased a mysterious announcement for Cronos: The New Dawn involving the door, LZRS 28? It may end up being a brand new game, if not DLC or an expansion, titled Cronos: Lazarus.

Universo Nintendo’s ‘Necro’ Felipe reports that it’s part of an event hosted by the Chinese social media app, Jike. Further details are still pending, but it could be ripe for an official worldwide announcement in the coming weeks, especially with State of Play and the Summer Game Fest coming up.

Is it a sequel? Bloober Team famously said there are no plans for the same, and it has several other projects in development, from Project M on the Nintendo Switch 2 to Layers of Fear 3. There’s also Silent Hill 1 Remake, developed in collaboration with Konami following the successful Silent Hill 2 Remake.

An expansion, potentially standalone, is far more likely, that too one continuing the base game’s story, though far be it from Bloober Team to add a replayable mode or other extras for players. Time will tell, so stay tuned for updates.

Cronos: The New Dawn is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It sold 500,000 copies as of October, and has since received a demo and a free update that adds the easier Temporal Diver difficulty. Check out our review of the base game, which we rated a 9 out of 10.

Based on the 2001 classic, Bloober Team's remake would launch in 2024 for PS5 and PC to extensive acclaim before coming to Xbox.

If the success of Silent Hill f wasn’t enough, Konami also confirmed another milestone for the series in a press release, this time for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake. It’s crossed six million players as of April 24th, which includes physical/digital sales and those who played through subscription services such as PlayStation Plus Extra.

The last milestone was actually fairly recent – over five million players – which is a testament to its long-lasting appeal. Released in October 2024 for PS5 and PC before launching on Xbox Series X/S in 2025, the remake is based on the classic 2001 survival horror. Long story short, James Sunderland receives a letter from Mary, his deceased wife, to meet in the titular town. And as is always the case, things take a grisly turn.

While Silent Hill 2 Remake features the same story (at least, at first glance), the gameplay has been overhauled, utilizing an over-the-shoulder perspective. Melee combat is also more visceral, and classic locations have more to see and uncover. Sections like Toluca Prison have also changed significantly, becoming arguably more frightening as a result.

Check out our review for more details (and why it became our Game of the Year in 2024). Bloober Team is currently working on a remake of the first Silent Hill, but it has yet to reveal platforms or a release window.

LZRS-28 may have more secrets to spill, if recent teases by the sci-fi survival horror's official Twitter are any indication.

The Traveler from Cronos: The New Dawn is coming to Fortnite, but don’t worry – Bloober Team seemingly has something else in store for the sci-fi survival horror title. It began with the words, “Scanning for fault signature… Engaging pursuit protocol…” in a tweet, which also had an image of a Traveler teasing, “The loop persists.”

The second tweet said, “The mystery remains unsolved… The future holds more answers” with an eye emoji. Another image with “LZRS 28” teases that this may be connected to the mysterious door that plays a role in the game’s finale. If this is DLC, then perhaps it expands on the story.

What makes this interesting is that Bloober Team already confirmed that there are no plans for a sequel and that the developers have begun pre-production on a new title. With a respectable 500,000 copies sold as of November 2025, one would believe that Cronos goes on the shelf for the foreseeable future, even after the recent update that added Temporal Diver difficulty.

Then again, with Bloober Team announcing an expansion of its leadership structure and seven games in development, five of them under its Black Mirror Games label, perhaps another team is handling this. Time will tell, so stay tuned for further updates, which appear to be coming sooner rather than later.

Cronos: The New Dawn is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out our review here.

Two "core productions" from its "first-party" teams are in the works alongside five titles co-developed under Black Mirror Games.

With Project M, Silent Hill Remake, and Layers of Fear 3, it makes sense that Bloober Team would upgrade its overall leadership. The developer has announced (via GamesIndustry) that Thaine Lyman, who worked as a senior leader at Activision and Wargaming, will be the new studio head, in charge of “production pipeline and development teams.

Michał Gembicki, who worked at CD Projekt, is now head of publishing and handling publishing strategy and global distribution. Finally, Katya Baukov is director of business development, focusing on expansion, franchise growth and partnerships (having worked at CD Projekt and Techland).

There are seven titles currently in development, with five being co-developed by Bloober under the Black Mirror Games label. CEO Piotr Babieno will continue working with the other two “first-party” teams. However, he emphasized that this strategy is to ensure that the company has at least two productions in the works since “relying on a single title creates too much risk in today’s market.”

“But we also don’t want more, because quality, focus, and creative oversight would inevitably suffer. For us, two core productions are the right balance between ambition and responsibility.”

Layers of Fear 3 is one of the co-developed titles, though Babieno notes that, “We’re not interested in growth for the sake of numbers. We believe players don’t need a constant flood of releases. They want experiences that feel meaningful, distinctive, and worth remembering years later.” Speaking of “growth for the sake of numbers,” he also emphasized the studio’s goal to retain talent, and not grow “recklessly” only to then “solve problems through layoffs.”

“We’re mindful about how we grow. We’re not trying to scale as fast as possible. Our focus is sustainable development, financial discipline, and long-term stability. That stability matters. Many team members have been with us for years. Long-term collaboration creates trust, shared creative instincts, and a stronger foundation than rapid expansion could.

“I never want to build a company that grows recklessly and then solves problems through layoffs. We want to come out stronger from industry challenges – together.”

As of now, each of its projects has a way to go. Project M, which is launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, has yet to be revealed. Silent Hill Remake and Layers of Fear 3 don’t have release dates either, and Project H, developed by the team behind Cronos: The New Dawn, is in pre-production.

In its announcement, Konami confirmed that this milestone takes into account sales and players on subscription services like PS Plus.

Konami has taken to social media to announce that Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 has been played by more than 5 million players worldwide. These figures take into account research conducted as of the end of January this year, and includes both the number of copies sold through physical and digital means, as well as those played through subscription services.

The last major milestone hit by the game was back in October 2025, when Konami had confirmed that it had shipped more than 2.5 million units worldwide, counting physical and digital sales.

Silent Hill 2 is a psychological horror game that revolves around James Sunderland having spent three years mourning the death of his wife, who passed away from a terminal illness. However, one day, he gets a strange letter signed by his wife, Mary, asking him to meet her in their “special place”—the town of Silent Hill. The remake was released on PC and PS5 back in October 2024, and eventually made its way to Xbox Series X/S in November 2025.

The original release of the game happened back in 2004 on PS2, Xbox and PC, and saw an immensely positive critical reception thanks to how it handled its horror aspects, including a tense atmosphere, as well as its deep storytelling and well-written characters.

Being such a beloved game, Bloober Team had spoken about having to dive into plenty of fan theories for the purposes of research during the development of the remake. Level designer Anna Oporska-Szybisz noted during a GDC talk last year that one of the core areas of this research was the Labyrinth.

“I can’t tell you how many hours we spent watching, reading, discussing all the elements that we can [find] on the internet,” Oporska-Szybisz said. “Our main goal has always been to respect the fans and never, ever disregard any of their theories.”

“I don’t like everything that I found there, to be honest, but when we started analyzing them and finding all the cons and pros behind them, I started to love the way that people were thinking about the Labyrinth, and wanted to incorporate as many things as I can in it.”

Since then, Bloober Team has gone on to develop and release another horror title—Cronos: The New Dawn. Director Jacek Zięba spoke about how the studio felt like underdogs until the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake.

“We are starting to stop feeling like underdogs all the time after Silent Hill,” he said. “The Silent Hill era wasn’t so easy in the eyes of the public. There were a lot of voices: ‘Oh no, Bloober is doing this. They will destroy that.’ It was very tough for the whole company to stick to our guns and put all our heart into that thing, even if most people don’t want it. We proved people wrong, so that’s nice.’”

Also take a look at why we loved it enough to make it our game of the year for 2024, amidst heavy-hitters like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Astro Bot, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

In an investor update, studio CEO Piotr Babieno also confirmed that the team behind Cronos: The New Dawn is working as a support crew.

In an update to its investors, Bloober Team has revealed that it is not developing a new entry in the Layers of Fear series. Rather, CEO Piotr Babieno has noted the studio is currently working on “two large projects” split between its production teams. Both of these projects have been described as horror games with an emphasis on storytelling. More details are slated to be revealed at “several important industry events.”

While one of the production teams is currently in the pre-production stages of a new original project, much of the team that worked on Cronos: The New Dawn, is now helping another team with polishing its projects.

“The creative part of the team is currently conducting pre-production work on a new original project,” said Babieno (via machine translation). “At the same time, most of the [‘Cronos‘] production team is currently supporting the polishing process of selected projects implemented within our second-party segment. After completing the pre-production stage, the team will gradually transition into full production of the new project.”

After the support work has been wrapped, the team behind Cronos: The New Dawn will work on Project H, which has been described as the one in pre-production. The budget for this project is also not expected to exceed the budget for Cronos.

“One of the advantages of specializing in a single genre is the ability to leverage many elements of our production pipelines and the experience we’ve gained in subsequent projects,” said Babieno. “At the same time, from the outset, we’re designing this game as a project with significantly greater sales potential. In this regard, we’re conducting numerous analyses and market research to help us best tailor the project’s scale and positioning. As for the release date, it’s still too early to provide specific dates.”

As for Layers of Fear 3, which was announced back in February, Babieno revealed that Bloober Team is co-developing it with another studio, while the studio itself continues to offer “significant input”. He also went on to note that, aside from one project that it is working on alongside an external publisher, all of Bloober Team’s in-development games are being financed by its own funds.

“Importantly, except for one project implemented in collaboration with an external publisher, all other projects are currently financed from the company’s own funds,” he said. “This means that in recent years we have made a number of investments, the effects of which should be visible in the coming years.”

Layers of Fear 3 was officially unveiled after a long, mysterious countdown on a strange website. However, no details had been revealed about the title, including release platforms or a release window. Its announcement coincided with Bloober Team celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Layers of Fear franchise, which saw its first release all the way back in 2016.

As for Bloober Team’s other works, the studio had released Cronos: The New Dawn just last year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details. The studio has also confirmed that it is working on a remake of the original Silent Hill.
