Though Silent Hill 2 was one of several games that boasted PS5 Pro enhancements when the console launched earlier this month, the survival horror remake faced many technical issues on the consoles, following which Konami and developer Bloober Team released a patch to fix said issues last week.

As per the tech analyst experts at Digital Foundry, the patch does seem to have brought noticeable improvements to the game, and through some interesting methods. Specifically, the recent patch for Silent Hill 2 has replaced PSSR in Performance Mode with TSR, as per Digital Foundry. That means the game is no longer using the PS5 Pro’s special, proprietary new supersampling, and instead using Unreal Engine 5’s in-built upsampling system.

As per Digital Foundry, that has resulted in the removal of a number of previously reported issues, such as issues related to disocclusion, reflections, and more. Though image quality is largely similar to the base PS5’s Performance Mode, interestingly, it looks like frame rate is better and more consistent, hitting the 60 FPS target much better and more consistently. Silent Hill 2 is available on PS5 and PC.
