Buy Deltarune once on PlayStation 4 or 5, or on Nintendo Switch 1 or 2, and you will get the game across both generations.

Toby Fox’s off-beat RPG Deltarune will see the launch of Chapters 3 and 4 in a $24.99 package that also includes the first two chapters (both of which were released for free) on June 5 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC. When it launches, it will support cross-generational purchases on the same family of platforms, Toby Fox has confirmed.

In a newsletter on his official blog, Fox confirmed that buying Deltarune on either PS5 or PS4 will also give you access to the game on the other platform at no additional price. On Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, things will work pretty much the same way, but only if you use the same Nintendo Account on both platforms.

“Thanks to cross-buy, when you buy Deltarune on the PlayStation Store, you get both PS4 and PS5 versions for one price,” Fox wrote. “And we’re gonna do (basically) the same thing on Nintendo platforms! If you buy the game on Nintendo Switch and decide you want the Switch 2 version later, you can get it at no additional cost! And vice-versa! (Except in Japan, where local laws require us to charge a small fee.) That’s right, for one single price, you’ll be able to get both versions of the game – that means both versions of the special room!”

Deltarune won’t end with its upcoming chapters. Fox has previously confirmed there are more chapters he intends to release, though what exactly the game’s future looks like is currently unclear. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days and weeks.

The two chapters will be paid on all platforms, unlike the first two. The full game will also serve as a launch title for the Switch 2.

Developer Toby Fox of Undertale fame has repeatedly insisted that chapters three and four of Deltarune will be releasing at some point in 2025, and that’s now been made official.

At the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the developer announced that Deltarune’s third and fourth chapters are releasing on June 5. The game will serve as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title, which will obviously also be getting the preceding two chapters on the same day. Meanwhile, chapters three and four will also launch for PS5, PS4, PC, and the Switch 1 simultaneously.

On the Nintendo Switch 2, Deltarune will feature a special room with gameplay designed around the Joy-Con 2 controllers’ mouse functionality. A different version of the room with different gameplay will be featured in all other versions of the game.

As previously announced, Chapters 3 and 4 will be paid releases, unlike the first two chapters. They will be sold at a combined price of $24.99.

The chapters arrive over six years after Chapter 1 launched, though their dates are subject to "localization and console porting."

Between all the releases this year, big and small, indie developer Toby Fox reiterated on BlueSky that Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are on track for 2025. He even described it as a “new catchphrase,” following a previous statement about both chapters “100 percent” launching this year.

As a sequel to the critically acclaimed Undertale, Deltarune launched in October 2018 with Chapter 1; Chapter 2 followed in September 2021. It offers a different setting but some returning characters and similar combat mechanics. The protagonist is Kris, who works with Susie and Ralsei on a quest to save the world. Though you can choose to be a pacifist and or annihilate all before you without remorse, Deltarune mixes things up with its party system and unique abilities for each character.

Chapters 1 and 2 are free to download on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The remaining chapters require purchasing, though Fox has yet to announce pricing. Their launch timing depends on “localization and console porting”, so stay tuned for further updates.

Though the creator is "very eager" to showcase the new chapters, the timing still depends on "localization and console porting."

It’s been a long time since the last Chapter of Deltarune, Toby Fox’s follow-up to the acclaimed Undertale. While we received an update last year about Chapter 3, a release date has yet to be confirmed. Fortunately, on the sixth anniversary of Chapter 1’s release, Fox revealed in a new tweet that Chapters 3 and 4 would launch in 2025.

The timing will depend on “localization and console porting,” so we must wait for further updates. However, Fox said the team is “very eager” to showcase what it’s developed “since six years ago.”

Deltarune is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS4. The story follows three friends on a quest to save the world. Like Undertale, the combat is turn-based, and you can opt for a pacifist approach, not killing any enemies, or a more “genocidal” outlook, slaughtering everything in your path.

Though the first two Chapters are free on all platforms, Chapters 3 and 4 will require purchasing. Fox has yet to outline the price (or comment on why Chapter 5 isn’t included, despite promising so earlier), so stay tuned for more information in the coming year.

While some members of the development team have started working on later chapters, Chapter 3 remains the focus for now.

Undertale tie-in RPG Deltarune has had a long development cycle, and an intriguing release schedule, to say the very least. Its very first chapter launched all the way back in 2018, nearly five years ago, which was followed by a second chapter (out of five total instalments) about three years later in 2021. Since then, Toby Fox and his team have put their heads down to work on the remaining three chapters of the game together, with plans of releasing them as a single package, and in a recently sent out newsletter, Fox provided further updates on how development is progressing.

According to Fox, though some members of the development team have started working on Deltarune’s later chapters, the bulk of the team’s focus remains on Chapter 3, for which development seems to be coming together at a good pace now, with the work currently being focused on the overworld area. Fox says that Chapter 3 has been a complicated one to develop nonetheless, and that Chapter 4 should be a relatively simpler one.

You can read the full update below, courtesy of Nintendo Everything:

“As was the case last time, we’re focusing on Chapter 3. However, there are a few people working on pieces of later chapters, such as bullet patterns or puzzles.

“As for Chapter 3, we’re finally creating the final overworld area. You could think of it like the “Queen’s Castle” or “Card Castle”, but for this chapter. With this complete, the chapter will finally be playable all the way through…! (Fun Fact: I composed the song for this area in 2016…)

“This Chapter is made of many different pieces… so it’s been hard to understand exactly how everything was turning out. Now that things are clearer, I just need to roll over the entire game with a steamroller and crush out all the bumps. There may be things to add, things to fix, or things to remove… but, many pieces have been quite polished already, so it won’t be too bad.

“As you can tell, this chapter is shaping up to be a pretty strange one. I mostly focused on unusual gameplay elements, and it’s not too heavy on the story. Since it’s so frivolous, I feel a bit self-conscious about it… but, at least I got to try something different!

“Anyway, Chapter 4 will be a much more standard chapter!”

The first two chapters of Deltarune are currently available on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Deltarune's first two chapters are currently available, while developer Toby Fox revealed in September last year that its final three chapters would be developed and released together.

We’ve been on the Deltarune rollercoaster for well over three years at this point. Developer Toby Fox released the first chapter of the Undertale tie-in way back in October 2018, and a couple of years later, in September last year, Deltarune Chapter 2 came out. At the time, Fox revealed that the remaining three chapters of the game would all be developed and released together rather than separately.

So how exactly is that going? Fox recently took to Twitter to provide a brief update on that front. After showing off some goofy concept art that he’s been working on, Fox said that “development is going well”, presumably referring to Deltarune (since he doesn’t have any other projects in the works that have been officially unveiled).

“I’m getting more and more people to help recently, I have good feelings about it,” Fox added.

Of course, that doesn’t really tell us how far along in the process he is, or how long it will be until we get more concrete updates. That said, seeing as all three remaining chapters of the game are being developed together, it’s likely that it might be a while before we get to go hands-on with them.

The first two chapters of Deltarune are currently available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac.

"It's hard both for creators and fans to go a long time without a release," developer Toby Fox acknowledges following Chapter 2's launch.

Undertale was and remains a sensation, so getting to play more of its off-beat follow-up Deltarune is always a treat as well. That said, its release cadence hasn’t exactly been the most frequent. Deltarune Chapter 2 just recently launched for PC and Mac, but it came almost a full three years three years after the first chapter came out- which is quite a huge gap, and makes one wonder just how long it’ll be before the entire game is finished.

In an update following Chapter 2’s launch though, developer Toby Fox briefly touched on that topic, and confirmed that the next (and final) three chapters of Deltarune will follow a different release schedule. Fox confirms that chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the game will all be released together so that there aren’t huge gaps between their releases, and also added that unlike the first two chapters of the game, they won’t be free (and will collectively cost more than Undertale, though an exact figure hasn’t yet been decided).

“Originally I had planned to release chapters only when all them are finished, but honestly, it’s hard both for creators and fans to go a long time without a release,” Fox wrote. “So, I changed my mind. I think most people will be happy about this.

“My next goal is to complete Chapters 3, 4 and 5 for next time. Then, at that time I will ask for people to buy the game, at the price of the first 5 chapters (including 1 and 2). I don’t know the price yet, but it’s definitely going to cost more than Undertale.”

Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long before we get to play more of Deltarune– though of course, more than that, we hope that whenever the next chunk of the game does arrive, it’s worth however long we have to wait for it.

Chapter 1 of Deltarune is available on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and PS4, but Chapter 2 hasn’t yet launched for the latter two. There’s no word yet on when (or if) the game will come to Xbox.

Save data transfer from the first chapter is supported, though creator Toby Fox says players who "generally remember what happened" will be fine.

Almost three years after the first chapter’s release, Deltarune Chapter 2 is coming tomorrow to PC. It will be available on its official website from 5 PM PT onwards. Developer Toby Fox also released a new trailer which can be seen in the tweet below.

Much like Fox’s universally acclaimed Undertale, Deltarune is a role-playing game with retro-style visuals. The story focuses on Kris and Susie who venture to the “Dark World” where they team with Ralsei. Thus does their journey begin to save the world and though the combat system ditches random encounters, players can still resolve conflicts with and without violence.

Deltarune Chapter 2 supports save data transfer from the first chapter. For those who don’t have the same, it’s possible to play Chapter 2 “as long as you generally remember what happened story-wise, you’ll be fine.” Given that Chapter 1 eventually came to PS4 and Nintendo Switch several months after its PC release, it remains to be seen if Chapter 2 will follow the same pattern. As always, stay tuned for more details.

It’s been over a year since Undertale developer Toby Fox released chapter one of Deltarune, the (sort of but not really) follow up to his beloved RPG, but there’s been little to no updates on when subsequent chapters might launch. Fox has shared a brief development update recently though.

On his Twitter account, Fox stated that development on Deltarune Chapter 2 was “going well”. While he had little else to say on the topic, he did add that he was feeling “positive about it.” Of course, the big question of when it will be out still remains, but it’s comforting for fans to know that its development is at least progressing smoothly.

Deltarune Chapter 1 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, and is a free download. What sort of a structure Chapter 2 will follow and how it will compare to the first chapter in terms of size and scope remains to be seen. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

By the way, the Chapter 2's development is going well! Not sure what else to say, but I feel positive about it.

The first chapter of the eccentric RPG will be free, just like its PC release.

There’s nothing quite like an RPG made by Toby Fox. The bizarre masterpiece Undertale launched on the Nintendo Switch not too long ago, while recently, the first chapter of its not-a-spinoff-but-still-kind-of-a-spinoff, Deltarune, came out on PC. During their Direct presentation yesterday, Nintendo announced that Deltarune- Chapter 1 will be coming out on the Switch as well, on February 28.

The announcement was accompanied with a trailer, which captured the best part of Toby Fox’s work- the off-kilter, wacky humour, which his games are well known for (as are the trailers for his games, for that matter). Undertale fans will surely be watching this one gleefully- you can take a look below.

Chapter 1 of Deltarune will be releasing on the Switch for free, as it did on PC as well. The end of the trailer mentions that more chapters are in development as well – which we knew already – but that those will not be released for free.
