Following its recent patch, on PS5 Pro, Bluepoint Games' remake targets 60 FPS while running at an upscaled 4K, courtesy of PSSR.

With the PS5 Pro having officially launched worldwide today, there’s been a long line of games that have received patches to add enhancements geared specifically for the console. As you’d expect, there’s several first-party games on that list as well- including some that have been available on PS5 since the day that it came out, in fact.

Specifically, Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls remake is now PS5 Pro Enhanced. Taking to Twitter, the developer announced that patch 1.005 has gone live for the action RPG, which, in addition to some tweaks and fixes, adds PS5 Pro support. On the new console, the remake runs at an upscaled 4K resolution, courtesy of PSSR, while also targeting 60 FPS. Check out the full patch notes in Bluepoint’s tweet below.

Demon’s Souls is available on PS5. As of September 2021, it has sold 1.4 million units worldwide, with later leaks indicating over 2 million shipments by 2022.

Many Trophies can be earned without much effort. However, these 15 PS5 titles tested one's patience, all for the sake of completion.

Completing additional challenges and clearing up any remaining content can be a fun time in many games, especially when they bestow Trophy progress. But some Trophies are different, either taking more time than the others or outright torturing you throughout the process of earning them. Let’s take a look at 15 such Trophies that will frustrate PS5 players to no end. Spoilers are included for certain games so be warned.

Demon’s Souls – One of the Few

The Valley of Defilement is, without a doubt, one of the most annoying levels in any Souls game. Its enemies are plentiful and can inflict the Plague; the environment is narrow, making it tough to attack at times; and there are numerous places to fall to your death. So of course there’s a Trophy tied to this location – “One of the Few”, which requires obtaining the weapon Istarelle. However, you need to have Pure White World Tendency. This means defeating all three bosses in the area, and if you’re in Body Form, then not dying is also a must (since it will decrease your World Tendency significantly). You could tackle the area in Soul Form but the 50 percent reduced HP is a major hurdle on top of everything else.

According to Kinda Funny's Imran Khan, targeting the console's launch window was always the plan.

Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls, a remake of the beloved FromSoftware classic, was recently rated for the PS5 in South Korea and Japan. This could indicate a release soon but given that the PS5 is out this holiday season, will it join the console’s launch line-up? According to Kinda Funny co-host Imran Khan, also formerly a senior editor at Game Informer, it’s possible.

Replying to a Twitter user about it being a launch title, especially with the recent rating, Khan said, “I’d doubt it if only for COVID reasons but I don’t think it’s off the table.” Interestingly, he added that, “As far as I know, they had always been targeting launch/launch window.” Plans could change, especially given everything that’s happened this year, but there could be a chance.

Neither Sony nor Bluepoint Games offered any kind of release window with the remake’s reveal. However, the launch rumors are interesting when you consider recent comments by Eric Lempel, Sony Interactive Entertainment SVP and head of global marketing. He told GamesIndustry.biz that the PS5 launch window line-up is “best line-up that we’ve ever seen in the history of PlayStation.” Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Astro’s Playroom, Godfall, and Bugsnax make for a pretty strong line-up, but Demon’s Souls would truly complete it.

We’ll have to wait for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, you can read about how Bluepoint Games is using the PS5’s DualSense controller to make the combat feel “grittier, darker, and deadlier.”
