Among the many pressers taking place at E3 2019, the Kinda Funny Games Showcase stands out. Hosted by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, the presentation will focus on indie games- and there’s no short supply of them. According to Miller on Twitter, there will be over 60 indie titles at the showcase.

This is pretty much in line with last year’s Kinda Funny Games Showcase, which showcased The Messenger’s new content, Desert Child, Ape Out, and so on. We even received an announcement about Sega’s Western release for Judgment (which isn’t exactly an indie game, but still). With all the triple-A announcements, the showcase might be a nice break between the action.

The Kinda Funny Games Showcase will take place on June 10th at 4:30 PM PT. E3 2019 will start on June 11th, but several major publishers will have events and pressers before that. Electronic Arts is up first with its EA Play event, premiering gameplay footage for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Microsoft will be next up on June 9th at 1 PM PT with a two hour show that might feature reveals for titles like the rumoured Fable 4.

It wasn’t too long ago that Sony announced they wouldn’t be holding a PSX event this year, like they have been doing for a few years running now. Soon after, Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games confirmed that Kinda Funny would instead be holding their own event, one that would look to fill the void and, unlike PSX, wouldn’t be exclusive to just PlayStation.

Miller has now confirmed via Twitter that the Kinda Funny Games Showcase will be held on the morning after The Game Awards, similar to the time slot PSX usually fills, on December 8, 2018, at 10:00 AM PST (1:00 PM EST). Miller also stated that the event will be attended by nearly 50 developers who “have something exciting to say.”

So far, several developers of indie titles, such as Wraith Games and Turbolance Games, have confirmed that they’ll be part of the showcase, and games such as Aftercharge, Anew: The Distant Light, and Long Gone Days have also been confirmed to be part of the showcase.

It was revealed just a few days ago that Sony would not be hosting PlayStation Experience this year. To make up for this, Kinda Funny Games’ Greg Miller sent out an open invitation on Twitter, asking game developers to join the Kinda Funny Games Showcases, and surprisingly enough, lots of developers have already responded positively to the invitation.

Once it was announced that PlayStation Experience wouldn’t be held this year, Greg Miller stepped in and announced the Kinda Funny Games Showcase so as to “fill the void.” The Showcase will be held on December 8, which is a day after the Game Awards, and plenty of developers have already responded, including the likes of Team Meat and Housemarque. Publishers like Annapurna Interactive and Devolver Digital have also expressed their interest in this event, along with companies like AbleGamers and Kitfox Games.

You can also see the tweet by Miller, which shows his inbox which is filled with responses regarding the Showcase, so it’s clear that the hype is real for this. As of now, all we know about the Showcase is that it will feature trailers, dev diaries, and other content that will be put together and showcased online. Hopefully, we’ll get to know more soon.

Shawn Layden has confirmed on the PlayStation Blogcast that there's no PSX this year.

So, Kinda Funny will fill the void and hold a Press Conference the Saturday after the Game Awards.
