The Messenger

Sabotage Studio’s retro action platformer The Messenger recently received a new update, which, most notably, included an endless New Game Plus mode. Even more new content seems to be in the works though. A recent tweet from the game’s official Twitter page has confirmed its appearance at the Kinda Funny Games Showcase, along with featuring four teasing images.

These images see Barma Thazël, the meddlesome servant to the Demon King, kidnapping some Phobekin on a tropical island. Whether this will be a new storyline or even a new area to explore remains to be seen. If the base game is any indication, we can expect the same signature humour and wit that The Messenger is known for.

Currently available on PC and Nintendo Switch, The Messenger pays homage to classics like Ninja Gaiden and Super Metroid. It’s difficulty can be rather intense at times, but the game has been praised for its old-school aesthetic and unique time travel mechanics. What new content could be coming? Tune into the Kinda Funny Games Showcase on December 8th to find out.
