Other games coming to the subscription service are Neva, Season: A Letter tot he Future, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition.

Shortly after its recent State of Play showcase, Sony has revealed updates to its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for the month of February. As part of this, a number of AAA titles will be available through the subscription service. Headlining the offerings this month will be Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition for PS5. These new additions will be available starting on February 17th.

PS4 offerings will also see expansion, with the addition of Monster Hunter Stories (PS4) and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (PS4) just a month before the release of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Other games coming to the subscription service are racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown (PS5), narrative action adventure games Neva (PS5) and Season: A Letter to the Future (PS4, PS5), indie title Venba (PS5), and sports game Rugby 25 (PS4, PS5). These games will be available for PlayStation Extra and Premium tier subscribers. The PlayStation Classics catalog will see the addition of Disney Pixar Wall-E (PS4, PS5), which was originally released on PS2 in 2008.

Along with this, Sony has also confirmed new additions to its PlayStation Plus Classics catalog for next month. The line-up, only available to Premium tier subscribers, includes PSP fighting game Tekken Dark Resurrection, and PlayStation classic rail shooter Time Crisis, as caught by Gematsu.

This announcement comes just a few days after rumors first popped up of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the subscription service. The 2023 action-adventure title revolves around Peter Parker and Miles Morales taking on a host of new foes from Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery. A key element of the story is the presence of the Symbiote.

While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the service makes sense given its 2023 release date, Monster Hunter Stories and its sequel coming to PlayStation Plus is especially interesting since the third game in the turn-based RPG franchise is slated for release on March 13th.

While the Stories series has largely focused on telling their own standalone stories (no pun intended), they tend to have a throughline in the form of their combat systems that blend the traditional Monster Hunter gameplay loop with turn-based action with an emphasis on befriending monsters as well as fighting them.

For those looking to check out Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection before release, a demo was released earlier this month offering some early-game sections. Capcom has also confirmed that players will be able to carry over their progress into the full game when it finally comes out.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection also got a trailer earlier this week, offering an overview of the story and the history of the Riders. The trailer features narration by Elizabeth Rose Bloodblame of Hololive English, and focuses quite a bit on the bonds between Riders and their Monsties (Monster Besties). Along with the wide roster of monsters that the series is known for, Stories 3 will also feature newer ones from Monster Hunter Wilds, like Rey Dau and Arkveld. Among the returning monsters, Monster Hunters 2‘s Yama Tsukami has also been confirmed for the game.

Available for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, the first two titles in Capcom's long-running monster-raising series are finally coming to Xbox.

While Capcom’s next title in the Monster Hunter Stories series is due next year, those on Xbox One can experience the originals this Fall. Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be coming to the console on November 14th, as announced on the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast.

Currently available on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4, the first game introduces players to the concept of Riders and Monsties. By raising and developing classic series’ monsters, players can engage in turn-based battles. Of course, the sequel goes far beyond this with much deeper breeding mechanics, a more epic story and improved visuals.

Check out our reviews for both titles and stay tuned for more details. As for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, it’s out on March 13th, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The latest trailer delves more into the Crystal Encroachment afflicting the world and the various characters that rise to stop it.

A solid, charming JRPG adventure, even if it feels a bit rough around the edges.

The original Monster Hunter Stories didn’t really release under the best circumstances to ensure success. It launched for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2017 (2016 in Japan), at a time when the handheld was very much in the final stages of its life. It also came out at a time when Monster Hunter, though still a very successful franchise in its own right (especially in Japan) hadn’t become the record-breaking, global commercial juggernaut that Monster Hunter World would turn it into upon its release in 2018. All of which is to say that you wouldn’t be blamed for having completely missed out on the original Monster Hunter Stories.

Worry not, however, because Capcom is bringing the JRPG spinoff back. The company has remastered the game, given it a bit of a technical glow-up, added some nifty features, and released it for (almost) all modern platforms (sorry, Xbox), giving everyone the perfect opportunity to see just what it was that the game brought to the table with its Pokemon-inspired traditional turn-based JRPG offerings. For the most part, a lot of Monster Hunter Stories’ charm has made it through in the remaster completely untouched, which, combined with some legitimately engaging core mechanics, make for a fun RPG adventure. At the same time, however, while playing the game, it’s also at times painfully clear that what you’re playing is ultimately a 3DS game from nearly a decade ago.

"A lot of Monster Hunter Stories’ charm has made it through in the remaster completely untouched, which, combined with some legitimately engaging core mechanics, make for a fun RPG adventure. At the same time, however, while playing the game, it’s also at times painfully clear that what you’re playing is ultimately a 3DS game from nearly a decade ago."

In Monster Hunter Stories, you play as a young child living in a remote, isolated village amidst a community of Riders, who’re basically Pokemon Trainers in the Monster Hunter universe. That means, unlike the mainline games’ monster killing hunters, the Riders’ way of life instead revolves around taming, rearing, and battling alongside Monsters, who they refer to as Monsties. It’s because of this way of life, in fact, that Riders choose to live in isolation, away from the rest of the world. However, when they and the outside world alike are threatened by the arrival of the Black Blight – a sickness that turns monsters into out-of-control, rampaging nightmares – it falls to you and your friends to head out into the world and find a way to stop the Blight’s spread.

Monster Hunter Stories is decidedly more focused on story than the series’ mainline games, though it’s worth noting that tonally, the game is very much targeted at younger audiences. The can be be genuinely heartwarming and charming a surprising amount of times, and though the story that it tells is ultimately a pretty predictable and straightforward one, it’s also one that deserves credit for how effectively it manages to keep hold of your attention. What helps, of course, is the addition of voice acting in this remastered release, with the majority of the performances ranging from serviceable at worst to legitimately good at best. There are some characters that are a bit annoyingly written – like a village elder who, for whatever reason, only ever speaks in rhymes – but by and large, the remaster’s voice overs do a good job of bringing the game’s characters and story to life.

Visually, however, Monster Hunter Stories isn’t much of a looker. It should go without saying that you shouldn’t be going in with enormously high expectations at any rate – this was originally a 3DS game, after all – but even so, the game undoubtedly shows its age in how flat and muddy it can look at times. Personally, I’m not much of a fan of the whole chibi aesthetic either – I much prefer the look and art style of Monster Hunter Stories 2 – which means, visually speaking, I can’t say I’m a fan of how the game has aged, even with the touched up graphics in this enhanced release.

"The remaster’s voice overs do a good job of bringing the game’s characters and story to life."

On a gameplay front, the game does similarly show its age, though admittedly, it’s still quite a bit of fun at its core, thanks to some legitimately well thought-out and enjoyable mechanics and systems, especially if you’re a fan of traditional JRPGs. The star of the show is the combat, which carves out a very distinct identity for itself in the turn-based space. At its core is a rock-paper-scizzors system- any time you and an enemy are targeting each other, both of you will attack each other with either a power, speed, or technical attack, with power being stronger against technical, technical against speed, and speed against power, with those matchups deciding the winner of each head-to-head. That simple system forms the heart and soul of the game’s battle system, with other wrinkles thrown on top in the form of double attacks, different weapon types, Kinship attacks between you and your Monstie companions, and what have you.

A combat system can make or break a JRPG, and Monster Hunter Stories, thankfully, has a solid one. It’s a shame that Capcom didn’t take the opportunity to add some of Monster Hunter Stories 2’s improvements into the remaster – like being able to break specific monster parts, for instance – but even in its original form, it works quite well. Monster Hunter Stories has you battling a lot of enemies, and though it never really gets challenging in a way that may stand out in memory, the battle system is always fun enough to hold your attention, for the most part. As you grow more powerful, unlock new skills, expand and improve your roster of Monsties, and add more and better weapons to your arsenal, the combat only ever gets better- it also helps, of course, that as you progress further, you also start taking on larger and more formidable foes, including many that Monster Hunter fans will loving locking horns with in a turn-based game.

Outside of combat, Monster Hunter Stories is pretty standard JRPG fare. There are large, open-ended hub maps to ride around in, randomly generated monster dens to explore, subquests to track down, and more, though none of it ever really stands out. From a design perspective, Monster Hunter Stories shows its age quite a bit, with exploration feeling quite limited, and even basic moment-to-moment movement feeling awfully stilted and clunky almost all the time. On top of that, side activities can often be horribly dull- some are certainly fun enough in their own right, but most are painfully rote and unambitious. Even monster dens quickly get repetitive. Though the thrill of finding a rare egg never quite goes away, it’s hard not to be let down by how simplistic and boring most of the dens are in design.

"A combat system can make or break a JRPG, and Monster Hunter Stories, thankfully, has a solid one."

Monster Hunter Stories can’t quite hide its age, which, of course, is also down to the fact that as a remaster, this isn’t a particularly significant one. In its enhanced form, Capcom’s charming, simplistic JRPG does bring a handful of improvements and additions in the form of improved visuals, newly added voice acting, and even a Museum mode to check out art and music, but this is still ultimately a near-decade-old 3DS game. Is it still fun? It absolutely is. It’s fun and charming and legitimately heartwarming in its own right. It is, however, also quite a limited and straightforward game, so just keep that in mind if and when you decide to dive into it. Fans of traditional JRPGs will certainly find plenty of enjoyment here, even if the game admittedly does get outdone in so many ways by its successor (which is also now available on PlayStation, incidentally).

Here's everything you should know about Capcom's Pokemon-inspired RPG spinoffs.

Recent years have seen Capcom turning Monster Hunter into one of its biggest and most successful properties, and though the series’ mainline games have been primarily responsible for that, its spinoffs have carved out their own niches as well. The Monster Hunter Stories games in particular have their fair share of fans, and will soon be opening the gates for more new players to jump in with an upcoming remastered release of the first game on Switch, PS4, and PC, and a re-release of the second game on PS4. Ahead of those releases, here, we’re going to give you the lowdown on what exactly you should expect from both Monster Hunter Stories games.

WHAT ARE THE STORIES GAMES?

Rather than the action-oriented and loot-driven gameplay of the mainline titles, the Monster Hunter Stories games instead take the form of much more traditional single-player turn-based RPGs. Instead of hunters, in the Stories games, players play as Riders, who tame and befriend monsters before then using them in battles against other Riders. Yep, the Monster Hunter Stories games are essentially Capcom’s take on the Pokemon games. Additionally, unlike the mainline games, the Stories titles are also much more story-driven.

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 1 STORY DETAILS

Monster Hunter Stories focuses on the journey of the player-named protagonist and an infant Rathalos that they bond with as Rider. Together with other allies and companions, like fellow Riders from your village and Navirou the felyne, you’ll set out on a journey where your primary concern will be to figure out how to deal with the Black Blight, a sickness that is spreading over the entire land.

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 1 CHARACTER DETAILS

Players will meet a number of key characters throughout their time in Monster Hunter Stories 1. For starters, there’s the aforementioned Navirou, a mysterious, donut-loving, strange-looking felyne that accompanies you throughout your journey. Then there are Lilia and Cheval, two of your closest childhood friends, Avinia, a Rider from another village who travels in the company of a Barioth named Frostfang, and Reverto, a veteran hunter.

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 2 STORY DETAILS

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin brings over the vast majority of its predecessor’s gameplay ideas, but it takes us to an entirely new location, focusing on a new cast of characters, and telling its own (mostly) separate story. In Monster Hunter Stories 2, players play as a young Rider who sets out on a journey to unravel the mystery of why Rathalos have been vanishing all over the world. Many of the first game’s core characters also return, including the likes of Navirou, Lilia, Avinia, and Reverto.

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 2 CHARACTER DETAILS

There are, of course, plenty of new character introductions in Monster Hunter Stories 2 as well. One of the more prominent ones is Razewing Ratha, the Rathalos that you bind with as Rider. Another key character is Ena, a Wyverian girl who once knew your grandfather, legendary Rider Red, before his death, while you’ll also be joined by new allies in the form of Kayna and Alwin, fellow Riders who travel with their bonded Monsties- a Velocidrome named Avmar and a Legiana named Shaulk respectively.

TURN-BASED BATTLES

One of the biggest ways the Monster Hunter Stories games differ from the series’ mainline entries is their combat, which is turn-based here and takes cues from the Pokemon series (as it does in other ways). You, your Monstie, and your enemies all get a turn to attack, with combat primarily revolving around a rock-paper-scizzors-style three-way system of strengths and weaknesses. Each attack can be one of three types- Power (which is stronger than Technical), Technical (which is stronger than Speed), and Speed (which is stronger than Power). When going head-to-head against an enemy, the matchups of your attack types will determine who gets to deal damage. Monstie and Rider can also combine to unleash Double Attacks, which also revolves around attack types.

COLLECTING AND TRAINING MONSTERS

Monster Hunter games primarily task players with hunting down and slaughtering monsters to then use their body parts to craft increasingly more powerful gear, but in the Stories games, your goal is to collect, befriend, and train the monsters (or Monsties, as they’re known to Riders) that you run into. Across both games, you’ll be crossing paths with a number of monsters that series fans will be very familiar with, including the likes of Rathalos, Barioth, Tigrex, Diablos, Nargacuga, Zamtrios, Zinogre, Mizutsune, Teostra, Bazelgeuse, Anjanath, Kulu-Ya-Ku, and many, many others.

BONDS AND KINSHIP SKILLS

As the bond between you and your Monsties grows in Monster Hunter Stories, you’ll gain access to Kinship Skills, which are special, high-powered moves that you can unleash in combat while riding atop your Monstie. Different Monsties will be able to use different Kinship Skills, from Rathalos’ Sky-High Dive, which sees you pummeling your enemy with an explosive, high-speed dive from the sky that incinerates everything in your path, to Tigrex’s Rock Smash, which sees you leaping down from the top of a cliff and crashing into the ground with monstrous force.

WEAPONS

Though weapons and gear aren’t quite as crucial to the core gameplay loop in the Stories games as they are in their mainline counterparts, they do obviously still have an important role to play. In fact, the many weapons and weapon types you’ll be using in Stories 1 and 2 will be quite familiar to you, if you have prior experience with the Monster Hunter stories. The likes of great swords, hammers, hunting horns, and gunlances (among others) can be used in combat, and each comes with their own unique attributes, strengths, and weaknesses.

MONSTIE GENES

Another area where the Monster Hunter Stories games are heavily inspired by Pokemon are how they give each Monstie you encounter their own unique attributes through their own set of genes, so that no two Monsties that you find are ever the exact same. Using the Rite of Channeling, players can transfer genes from one Monstie to another in order to awaken new abilities, allowing you to strengthen your Monsties with a surprising amount of finer control. This, of course, will be on top of earning experience and leveling up through battles, side quests, quests, and more.

NEW VO IN STORIES 1

Monster Hunter Stories 1’s upcoming remaster is bringing with it a number of enhancements, and beyond improved visuals, perhaps the most prominent of them is the addition of full voice acting. Unlike the original game, Monster Hunter Stories’ upcoming remaster will feature both English and Japanese vice tracks for the story’s core cast of characters.

MUSEUM MODE IN STORIES 1

Another key addition in the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories remaster for fans to look forward to is the Museum mode, where you can check out over 200 pieces of previously unreleased artwork, as well as the game’s music. On top of that, you’ll also find plenty of behind-the-scenes insights and comments provided by the game’s development team, offering a deeper look into the game’s setting and its development.

PREVIOUS UPDATES INCLUDED WITH STORIES 1

In the aftermath of Monster Hunter Stories’ original release back in 2016, Capcom released a decent chunk of new content for the game through post-launch updates, including new Monsties, the Tower of Illusion post-game activity, and more. Capcom has confirmed that all of those updates will be included in the upcoming remaster out the gate.

PRICING

As good as they are, the Monster Hunter Stories games are decidedly not mainline big-budget titles, and their pricing will reflect that with their upcoming releases, as well as the fact that they’re both older games now. Monster Hunter Stories, which will launch for PS4, Switch, and PC, will be available for $29.99, while Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which is coming to PS4, is going to cost $39.99. A Deluxe Edition will also be available for $49.99.

COLLECTION

Those who haven’t played either of the two Monster Hunter Stories titles will have the opportunity to pick up both of them as a single package. On June 14, Capcom will also release a Collection that will include both games, retailing for $59.99. A Deluxe version of the collection will also be available for $69.99.

It's not the busiest month for game releases, but June has some long-awaited heavy hitters that should keep their fans busy.

June is the officially designated showcase month for the gaming industry, and this month is no different. As rumors circulate, it should be a packed week of big announcements and exclusive reveals from Xbox, Bethesda, Activision, 2K Games, Bandai Namco and many more. Though not quite as hefty in terms of releases, there are some pretty noteworthy titles to look forward to, whether it’s the conclusion of not one but two sagas, some Monster Hunter titles and Star Wars (the non-EA kind). Here are 12 big games coming in June 2024.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Say what you will about the Destiny franchise, but with all the ups and downs, shifting trends, studio problems and controversies, it’s still the top looter shooter. With The Final Shape, Bungie looks to conclude the near-decade-long Light and Darkness saga with new Light-based subclasses, Prismatic (combining many abilities into one subclass), a linear campaign and a hopefully memorable raid. It’s a tall order, and between all of the changes to Exotics, ability changes, new Exotics (including new class items) overhauling bounties in favor of the Pathfinder system and more, The Final Shape could be a memorable end leading to a promising beginning when it launches on June 4th. It will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

Monster Hunter Stories

Limited to Nintendo 3DS, iOS and Android for years, the first Monster Hunter Stories is finally coming to modern-ish platforms on June 14th. Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC players can dive into a world where humans and monsters coexist, working together as Rider and Monstie to overcome challenges. Combat is turn-based with three attack types, each overcoming the typical triangular fashion. The remaster sports all the title updates, full voice-acting, additional languages, improved character models, textures and lighting in HD, and even a Museum Mode.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Once PS4 players are done enjoying the original, there’s Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, launching on the same day. Players take ownership of the mysterious Razewing Ratha, an allegedly ruinous Rathalos. Journeying together and teaming up with other Riders, they seek to rid the world of raging monsters. With a more refined presentation, recognizable armor and weapons from the series, and extensive ways to cultivate and customize Monsties, Wings of Ruin promises a fun turn-based experience. It also benefits from all of the updates released to date, including a co-op quest against Fatalis.

Still Wakes the Deep

Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs developer The Chinese Room is back with its latest survival horror, set on a drilling platform in 1975. The premise sees Caz McLeary struggling to survive against some unknown monster while navigating the platform’s various mechanical failures. That means navigating ruined walkways, traversing claustrophobic water-filled rooms, and much more. With The Thing, Suspiria and even the Southern Reach Trilogy as inspirations, Still Wakes the Deep promises a deeply personal and nerve-wracking horror experience when it launches on June 18th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Perhaps the biggest release of the month, Shadow of the Erdtree is the first and only paid expansion for Elden Ring, launching on June 21st for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. It sees players venturing to the Land of Shadow to pursue Miquella, discovering hidden truths (including an untold war) about the place and battling with new threats like Messmer the Impaler. With over ten new boss fights, multiple new weapon types, skills and armor, and a new region that’s larger than Limgrave with a “denser and richer level design”, it’s FromSoftware’s biggest expansion to date. Will it close the story on a high note? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Before there was the brilliance of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Dark Moon was the series’ peak. Fortunately, it’s coming to Nintendo Switch on June 27th as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Featuring improved visuals in HD, Luigi must collect pieces of the Dark Moon to save Mario once more, utilizing the Poltergust 5000 to solve puzzles in more complex haunted mansions. You can also hop into the ScareScraper with up to three other players to tackle fresh challenges locally or online. Whether you’re reliving the masterpiece or playing for the first time, it should be another worthwhile addition to the Switch’s library.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble

Speaking of returns, Super Monkey Ball gets a new title on June 25th on Nintendo Switch, courtesy of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble features AiAi, MeeMee and the rest of the crew, including newcomer Palette, as they seek the Legendary Banana in Adventure Mode. Multiplayer supports up to 16 players online (or two locally), with modes like Race, Banana Hunt, Goal Rush and more. It even supports bots and offers more than 300 items to customize characters with.

Star Wars: Hunters

First announced in February 2021, Zynga’s Star Wars: Hunters actually soft-launched in late 2021 for mobiles. Multiple delays later, it’s finally getting a release on June 4th, enabling Nintendo Switch players to join the fray. As a free-to-play competitive shooter, players can choose from an array of bounty hunters divided into Tank, Support and Damage roles, with maps on Endor, and four unique modes. Whether it can survive as a hero shooter in this day and age remains to be seen, but it looks decent.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road

After bragging about offering the “equivalent of more than ten single-player games” with The Elder Scrolls Online, ZeniMax Online Studios is preparing for its next big expansion. Gold Road sees players venturing to the West Weald from Oblivion with locations like Skingrad, the Dawnwood and the Colovian Highlands to explore. Players can modify skills with the new Scribing system, which should help when embarking into new dungeons and the latest trial. The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road is out on June 3rd for PC, with the console versions launching on June 18th.

A Twisted Path to Renown

You’ve seen modern combat PvEvP extraction shooters, but Game-Labs’ A Twisted Path to Renown puts a Wild West spin on things. Entering early access on June 6th for PC, it sees players exploring the United States in 1899 with revolvers, double-barrel shotguns and even bows. Battle all kinds of threats, including hostile wildlife, while garnering reputation among vendors, earning better gear, and even engaging in some farming and mining. With realistic weapons and trading available at launch, it may very well be the freshest take on the genre yet.

ASKA

Whether you’re already done with Valheim’s new Ashlands update or just in the mood for a fresh survival crafting title, there’s Thunderful’s ASKA. Launching on June 20th for PC via Steam Early Access, the title allows up to four players to strike out as Vikings, building up their tribe, assigning jobs to villagers, customizing the layout and setting up defenses. They can also venture into the procedurally generated world with its dynamic weather system and discover various landmarks and resources. Launching in 2025, with two major updates forthcoming, ASKA may be worth checking out.

Kingdom Hearts Series (Steam)

Just when it seemed condemned to the Epic Games Store for life, the Kingdom Hearts series is finally coming to Steam on June 13th. Three titles will be available, though at least two are collections of individual games. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX contains the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts 1, 2 and Birth by Sleep, Re:Chain of Memories and all the cutscenes (plus some new ones) from 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

These are in high-definition and offer a substantial amount for first-time PC players. Kingdom HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue contains a remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, a “film” of sorts based on Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover and Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, a side story.

It all leads to Kingdom Hearts 3, the conclusion to the Dark Seeker saga, and Re Mind, with multiple new challenges and additional story content. Memory of Melody isn’t arriving, which is a bummer, but these three releases still offer the definitive Kingdom Hearts experience.

The company has announced Capcom Highlights, a new two-day event that will also provide updates on Exoprimal, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and more.

Capcom has unveiled Capcom Highlights, a new event that will be taking place over two days, bringing new updates and details on upcoming titles by the company, as well as new content coming to previously released game.

The event’s first day is set for March 7. Kicking off at 3 PM PST, it will offer new looks at Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is due out later this month, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Interestingly, the latter will also be shown off the day prior at Microsoft’s Xbox Partner Preview, so it should be interesting to see what will be showcased at Capcom Highlights. Meanwhile, where Dragon’s Dogma 2 is concerned, rumours have indicated that the action RPG is set to receive a demo soon, so perhaps this is where that will be announced.

Meanwhile, day 2 of Capcom Highlights is set for March 11, at 3 PM PDT, with Capcom set to reveal new details on upcoming titles like its Monster Hunter Stories remaster and the mobile title Monster Hunter Now, as well as previously-released games like Exoprimal and Street Fighter 6. Where the latter is concerned, it’s likely we’ll be learning about the game’s fourth and final Year 1 DLC character, Akuma.

On the official Capcom Highlights page, the company says the event’s runtime will be roughly 15-20 minutes each day, so we can probably expect meaty showings for each title.

The turn-based RPG, which originally released for the 3DS, will return with voice acting, enhanced visuals, a new Museum mode, and more.

First releasing for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2016 (2017 in Western markets), Monster Hunter Stories put a unique, Pokemon-inspired, turn-based spin on Capcom’s action RPG franchise, and though it was very much a niche product (especially in comparison to mainline Monster Hunter games), it had its fair share of fans.

If you were among them, or are curious about the game regardless, there’s news to be excited about. Capcom has announced a remaster of Monster Hunter Stories. Out this Summer for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC, the remaster will boast full voice acting, enhanced visuals, and a new Museum mode, where you can view artwork and listen to the game’s soundtrack. Additional content that was previously released for the original game only in Japan is also going to be included, Capcom has confirmed.

In our review of Monster Hunter Stories upon its Western 3DS release in 2017, we gave it a score of 7/10, saying, “Fans will appreciate the new take on time honored series mechanics in Monster Hunter Stories, while newcomers will find a more accessible and inviting game than the franchise has ever had before.” Read the full review through here.

A sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, is also available on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Not all final bosses are what they're cracked up to be.

That swelling sense of satisfaction you get when an excellently designed boss fight caps off a video game is one of the greatest parts of the gaming experience, but not all final bosses live up to their billing. Failing either from a storytelling perspective, or from a visual design perspective, or from a lack of challenge, or all of the above, final bosses that fall short of expectations can leave a sour taste in your mouth that’s not easy to forget. Here, we’re going to talk about a few such disappointments.

MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR

Shadow of Mordor sees you building up your character to ridiculous heights, but the payoff at the end of that long journey is incredibly disappointing. Taking on the Black Hand of Sauron after everything that Talion and Celebrimbor have been through should have felt like a climactic duel for the ages, and in the end it just ends up being a… quick time event? Who thought that was a good idea?
