All three titles are playable on both PS4 and PS5 subscribers. They go live on June 6th and will be available until July 3rd.

Sony has announced the next set of free titles coming to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in June (which will also be available for Extra and Premium tiers). From June 6th to July 3rd, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Trek to Yomi and NBA 2K23 will all be free to download on PS4 and PS5.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is Frontier Developments’ follow-up to the park management simulator, with new game modes, dinosaurs and new ways to care for dinosaurs. It also features Chaos Theory, which lets you experience moments from the films that can change based on your decisions. Check out our review for more details.

NBA 2K23 is Visual Concepts’ latest title in the yearly basketball series, with MyCAREER, MyTEAM and MyNBA modes. It’s an improvement over the previous year, even if the monetization still leaves much to be desired. Finally, there’s Trek to Yomi, Flying Wild Hog’s side-scrolling cinematic action title, which pays tribute to Akira Kurosawa films (and is sadly not that good).

Stay tuned for more details on next month’s addition to the Premium and Extra tiers, including new Classic titles. Check out May’s offerings here in the meantime.

Visual Concepts' NBA 2K23 has sold-in over 11 million units and achieved the series' highest-ever Virtual Currency sales.

Along with potentially hinting at Grand Theft Auto 6’s release window in its fourth quarter and full-year financial report for the fiscal year 2023, Take-Two Interactive provided updated sales figures on its biggest titles. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still the company’s most successful title, with over 180 million units sold-in to date and franchise sales of over 400 million.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold-in over 53 million units, with the series at over 75 million sales worldwide. In its prepared remarks, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that NBA 2K23 sold-in over 11 million units, a new record for the series. It enjoys 2.3 million daily active users and has achieved the franchise’s highest-ever Virtual Currency sales.

Sadly, despite net revenue being up by 53 percent at $5.35 billion and net bookings up by 555 percent at $5.28 billion, Take-Two reported net losses of $1.12 billion for the full fiscal year. In the fourth quarter alone, it lost $610 million. Nevertheless, Zelnick believes that over $8 billion in net bookings in the fiscal year 2025 is achievable, thanks to “several groundbreaking titles” that will “set new standards in our industry.” Stay tuned in the meantime for more details.

Michael Jordan's career is full of illustrious moments and challenges. Here's how to complete all 15 matches in The Jordan Challenge.

For all of the faults in NBA 2K23, The Jordan Challenge is perhaps its most redeeming feature. First introduced in NBA 2K11, it’s a collection of Michael Jordan’s special moments, represented as playable scenarios. There are 15 challenges to complete, and you need to achieve different objectives to earn stars (45 in total).

You can unlock content like the UNC Jordan Jersey, Jordan Calf Sleeve, and the Jumpman Gold Necklace in MyCareer. The Jordan Coach Card, Jordan FA Card, and ’95-’97 Bulls Alt Jersey is earnable for MyTeam. However, you’ll need 40 stars to get them all, while 45 stars are needed for a Trophy/Achievement.

All challenges can be completed on any difficulty, so if you’re feeling the heat, knock it down to Rookie. Here are all of the different conditions that must be fulfilled in each match:

Match 1: A Star is Born – (1) Win the match, (2) Score at least 16 points, and (3) Get nine rebounds.

Match 2: Got Next – (1) Win the match, (2) Score at least 12 points and (3) Win by 15 or more points.

Match 3: The Arrival – (1) Win the match, (2) Score at least 63 points, and (3) Earn six assists.

Match 4: Star of Stars – (1) Win the match, (2) Score at least 40 points, and (3) Earn three assists and eight rebounds.

Match 5: The Shot – (1) Juke past Larry Nance, (2) Aim “the shot,” and (3) Win the match. This is a series of Quick Time Events, so press the corresponding button to fulfil each condition for an easy three stars.

Match 6: Shootout – (1) Score more than Dominique Wilkins, (2) Score 40 points and ensure that Wilkins has less than 20 points, and (3) Win the match.

Match 7: 69 points – (1) Score 69 points, (2) Shoot 50 percent or better from the field, and (3) Win the match.

Match 8: Bad Boys – (1) Earn four assists, and ten rebounds, (2) Score 47 points, and (3) Win the match.

Match 9: Start of a Dynasty – (1) Earn 10 assists and score 30 points, (2) Shoot 50 percent or better from the field and also get four rebounds, and (3) Win the match.

Match 10: The Shrug – (1) Score 39 points and ensure that Clyde Drexler has less than 17 points, (2) Win the match, and (3) Score six three-pointers in the first half.

Match 11: Double Nickel – (1) Make sure John Starks has scored less than two three-pointers, (2) Score 55 points, and (3) Win the match.

Match 12: Fathers Day Victory – (1) Earn seven assists, and win the match by at least 12 points, (2) Score 22 points and nine rebounds, and (3) Win the match.

Match 13: The Flu Match – (1) Get 38 points, (2) Earn five assists and seven rebounds, and (3) Win the match.

Match 14: Pass the Torch – (1) Win the match, (2) Win the match by 10 or more points, and (3) Score 36 points and make sure Kobe Bryant has less than 20 points.

Match 15: The Last Dance – (1) Score 45 points, (2) Ensure Jeff Hornacek has less than 15 points, and (3) Win the match.

Check out all of the options for shot timing available in this year's release, and find out how to quickly traverse The City.

NBA 2K22 generated its fair share of controversy for changing the shot timing that players knew and loved. As a result, NBA 2K23 provides multiple different settings for shot timing. Here’s how to modify them to your liking.

First, go to the Features tab on the Home screen and choose Controller Settings. You’ll eventually come across various options for Shot Timing, including Shots Only, Layups Only, Real Player Percentage, and Shots and Layups. You can also modify the Shot Timing Release Time from Very Early to Very Late. Free Throw Timing is also adjustable – just search for the option in the Controller settings, and you can choose User Timing or Real Player Percentage.

How to Fast Travel in The City

Though The City in NBA 2K23 is smaller than last year’s iteration, it’s still good to have Fast Travel for instantly warping between locations. That’s where the fast-travel train station comes in. By pressing RB/R1, you can find one close to your character and navigate to it. These stations look like subway stations and act as spawn locations whenever you enter the game.

Here are all the different fast travel stations in the game:

East Mall Station

The Block

North Station

Knights Station

West Mall Station

Arena/One City Plaza

Wildcats Station

Event Center

Beasts Station

Vipers Station

NBA 2K23 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Check out our review here for more details.

NBA 2K23 is a perfectly solid basketball game that drops the ball with too much emphasis on microtransactions and poorly-thought out design in its main mode.

The NBA 2K series has had its ups and downs but for the most part it still enjoys a relatively solid reputation among its core players, which is more than can be said for other comparable game franchises for other sports. With the newest offering from the NBA 2K series, that shouldn’t change much, as the multiple ways to enjoy the core mechanics of the series do a good job of making sure there are at least a few things here that just about any basketball fan will enjoy. From the old to the new and the casual to the expert, the biggest thing this game gets right is its inclusive approach to all potential players. While it does end up with a few fouls by the end, the net result of this one is a game that doesn’t shake things up a lot but makes enough tweaks around the edges and includes enough variety of modes to deliver one of the more solid games the series has had in recent years.

"While it does end up with a few fouls by the end, the net result of this one is a game that doesn’t shake things up a lot but makes enough tweaks around the edges and includes enough variety of modes to deliver one of the more solid games the series has had in recent years."

Out of the relative wealth of modes on display here, you might be tempted to first jump into the Jordan Challenge mode first, like I was. This mode goes all the way back to Michael Jordan’s North Carolina days in the early 80s and builds from there with a nice selection of iconic games from the GOAT’s career. Appropriate filters are applied that do an excellent job recreating the feel of those older games, as well as the retro-style camera angles that almost feel like an ode to NBA Jam. Aside from regulations of the era being reflected in these games and the whole thing looking like it’s recorded on an old VHS tape, which you can turn off if you want to, it’s still largely the same core NBA 2K gameplay mechanics at work, though and that’s a perfectly good thing. It’s a neat experience and definitely scratches a unique itch in the sports game world better than most recent attempts at similar things in other games. That said, some janky animations and stiff interactions still persist between players and can take you out of the experience a little more often than I would have liked. But that’s an issue throughout the game, and not really related to this mode. The developers clearly know that they’re on to something here, as you can also dip into other iconic eras of the sport’s history in the MyNBA Franchise mode for different flavors of that same type of nostalgia.

If that’s not your thing though, you’ll likely be diving into the My Career mode first and likely spending a lot of time there. Selecting from a pretty standard selection of character models and an equally standard set of strengths for your custom player, my career can provide some pretty entertaining moments. Character models are inconsistent with their levels of detail and expressiveness, but aggressive camera work and some pretty decent voice acting helps keep the many scenes together and working fairly well. Here you can play out a custom career, mosey around your apartment as well as an outdoor world that is not at all fun or interesting to be in (although it is made slightly more fun when you’re skateboarding… slightly…). Roaming around completing quests is an odd thing to want to cram into a basketball sim, and I appreciate the idea, but it didn’t quite come together for me as a format for this type of game. Especially considering the frame rate drops about as much as the sluggishness of controlling your character seems to go up. Either way, this is one of the beefier modes of the game and if you want to get your money’s worth, there is a lot of content here.

"Roaming around completing quests is an odd thing to want to cram into a basketball sim, and I appreciate the idea, but it didn’t quite come together for me as a format for this type of game."

Graphics and animations are certainly improved from previous versions. Sweat beading on players’ skin, shorts wafting from the sudden speedy movements of the legs inside of them, and a host of other things will definitely stand out from time to time. It’s inconsistent though, as most modern sports games have become known to be. Side characters and audience members don’t look particularly good and seem to lack quite a bit of detail at times, while star players often occupy the polar opposite end of the spectrum. So, while I’d say this is an improvement, it’s just not in a way that makes them look on-par with other fully-priced AAA offerings outside of the sports genre, which is interesting as I remember a time when sports games were the best-looking games around. But perhaps that’s a conversation for another day.

One thing that stuck in my craw a bit more was just how bumping into other players or out maneuvering them rarely triggered a convincing reaction from them. So, while the opponent AI might be smarter on paper, I feel like the game is leaving a lot of the potential for that on the table when players aren’t illustrating those improvements to me in a convincing way.

Another thing that seems to be widely accepted as normal despite being completely asinine is the always-online barriers baked into the experience for seemingly no reason. The game warns you that some progress won’t be saved unless you register your email with the game and “go online”, which is just weird. Even worse, some modes cannot be played at all without the user registering a connection to the internet. I can understand that for some features, perhaps, like the connected overworld where players cross paths with each other, but why not just have an offline version of that for those that might be experiencing an outage or just not have good internet? Yes, it’s 2022 and most folks have decent internet now, but millions still don’t, and outages are a thing, so for a full-priced game like this to make such few accommodations for offline play does rub me the wrong way in this case.

WNBA modes also make a nice showing with a similar suite of modes that closely mirror the NBA offerings. This mode honors the differences between the two sides of pro basketball pretty well with different cutscenes while also feeling like it’s still part of the same game. I got to say I might actually enjoy the feel of WNBA more as it felt just a smidge more arcadey.

From some neat new ideas to some much-needed upgrades, NBA 2K23 makes a solid effort to feel like a holistic basketball sim and probably will be more than enough to justify dumping dozens of hours into for long-time series fans. Better graphics, smarter opponents, as well as some notably cool ideas like the adrenaline boosts that make sudden movements easier and an addicting badge system do indeed add some much-needed depth. The other side of the coin is that aggressive microtransactions, inconsistent performance, and rigidly always-online functionality continue to bog the series down.

Numerous big games dot September, from long-awaited sequels and blockbusters to that one big remake. Check out ten of them here.

The Autumn deluge, a time when many of the biggest titles are released, is nearly upon us. From long-awaited sequels to triple-A blockbusters, there’s something for everyone. It all kicks off in September, so take a look at 10 of the biggest titles launching this month.

The Last of Us Part I

Naughty Dog’s 2013 classic, which mixes cinematic story-telling with action-adventure and survival elements, remains an unforgettable experience. On September 2nd, fans can relive that experience on PS5 (for a $70 price tag, of course) with The Last of Us Part 1. Built from the ground up for the console, it offers more detailed environments, improved animations, shorter loading times, DualSense support, and a wide range of accessibility options.

AI improvements, a revamped crafting bench, and much more also await. Though multiplayer isn’t included, it’s still worth looking into for the sheer visual splendor.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero

Twelve years after its original release on PlayStation Portable, Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is finally being localized to English and released worldwide. Set months after the end of Trails in the Sky the 3rd, the story moves to Crossbell, a city-state of advanced technology and economic wealth. Crime and conspiracies run rampant, which results in the formation of the Special Support Section led by Lloyd Bannings.

Releasing on September 27th for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, the English version includes High-Speed and Skip Modes along with improvements to texture quality, bug fixes, and much more.

NBA 2K23

Dread it, run from it – NBA 2K arrives all the same. The year’s release features the usual ensemble of MyCareer (with The City and The Cruise returning for current and previous gen platforms), MyTeam, MyGM and MyLeague modes featuring both NBA and WNBA teams. However, significant revamps have been made to the gameplay, from new Pro Stick combos and Adrenaline Boosts to new Shot Meters and Shooting Attributes.

Even the Badge System and Player Builder have been improved, providing more freedom in customization. If that weren’t enough, The Jordan Challenges from NBA 2K11 return with the original 10 rebuilt and five new challenges added. NBA 2K23 is out on September 9th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, it amounts to more than another yearly microtransaction fest.

Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 will feel very familiar to fans of the previous two games, which is a good thing, but there are plenty of new features. Splatsville is the new hub with shops like Naut Coutour and Crush Station to purchase different gear, Ammo Knights for weapons, and a new digital CCG called Table Turf Battles. There are 12 stages for multiplayer in total, some new and several returning, along with new weapons like Stingers and Splatanas.

Even the core gameplay has received some new moves like the Squid Roll and Squid Surge maneuvers. Of course, those keen on PvE can experience a brand new campaign, “Return of the Mammalians,” and co-op with Salmon Run Next Wave. Splatoon 3 is out on September 9th for Nintendo Switch, with additional weapons, stages, gear catalogues, and more coming free after launch.

Soulstice

Reply Game Studios’ Soulstice may seem like your average hack and slash action game with launchers, Stingers, combos and so on. But there’s a lot more to this tale of two sisters, Briar and Lute, as they venture to the city of Ilden and battle forces from beyond the Veil. The dark fantasy art direction and story-telling, combined with the solid combat variety and intriguing story, should make for an interesting experience.

Soulstice is out on September 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with a free demo available to try on Steam.

Slime Rancher 2

Monomi Park’s Slime Rancher 2 going into early access on September 22nd for PC and Xbox Series X/S. While Beatrix LeBeau returns as the protagonist, players will venture to the new Rainbow Island to gather its slimes. Though it offers improved visuals and new slimes, you’ll still be collecting and raising them to earn Newbucks and expand the farm.

Though the full extent of content for the early access launch has yet to be revealed, the developer promises “a big world to explore, many different slimes to collect and combine, and an introduction to the game story and the mystery behind Rainbow Island.”

FIFA 23

Unlike its contemporaries, FIFA 23 signals the end of an era as Electronic Arts’ agreement with FIFA comes to an end. As such, it offers much of what fans expect – over 19,000 players, more than 100 licensed stadiums, 30 licensed leagues, over 700 clubs and so on. In addition to HyperMotion2, which uses machine learning for more than 6,000 animations, and Technical Dribbling for more responsive turning and dribbling, this year features the FA Women’s Super League and French Division 1 Féminine (with more coming post-launch).

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be playable alongside the 2022 FIFA World Cup. And of course, it wouldn’t be FIFA without the return of Ultimate Team, for better or worse. Unfortunately, many of the new gameplay features are exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Google Stadia. Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch is getting the same Legacy Edition as the past few years with very few gameplay changes. With FIFA 23 releasing on September 27th, it remains to be seen if it ends the series on a high note.

Serial Cleaners

As the follow-up to Draw Distance’s 2017 breakout hit, Serial Cleaners leans more into the “fantasy” of portraying a cleaner for the mob. This time, there are four cleaners to choose from, each with their unique skills. However, you’re still working through different environments to dispose of dead bodies, clean up the evidence and avoid any police that happens by.

With a fast degree of stealth, open-ended maps with dynamic scenarios, and a non-linear story with different choices to make, Serial Cleaners promises a gritty experience inspired by Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. It’s out on September 22nd for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Return to Monkey Island

It’s been almost 31 years since the mysterious ending of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Director Ron Gilbert thus returns to provide the thrilling conclusion to the saga with Return to Monkey Island, releasing on September 19th for Nintendo Switch and PC. It sees Guybrush Threepwood (reprised by Dominic Armato) getting his mojo back, encountering new and familiar faces, and ultimately, maybe, finally discovering the Secret of Monkey Island.

New locations like Brr Muda and Terror Island await along with reactive dialogue trees, an integrated hint system and even a new Casual Mode for the less hardcore players to enjoy the story.

Session: Skate Sim

Session: Skate Sim has been in early access since September 2019 for PC and Xbox One. Along with dual stick controls, it offers realistic physics, four difficulty levels and various locations to skate in like New York City, Philadelphia and the recently revealed San Francisco. In addition to challenges, which net cash for spending on t-shirts, caps, shoes, and more, players can customize their skateboard with over 250 parts.

There’s also a full-fledged video editor for creating clips, complete with different viewpoints, filters, and so on. Can Session fill the void before the new Skate launches? We’ll find out when version 1.0 arrives on September 22nd on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5.

This year's NBA 2K features the return of The Jordan Challenges, new features and revamped gameplay. Here's everything you need to know.

A new NBA 2K game is on the horizon, courtesy of 2K Games and Visual Concepts. And while the series’ penchant for excessive monetization will remain, several new features and improvements are worth detailing. Let’s take a look at 16 things you should know before picking up NBA 2K23, which releases on September 9th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Cover Athletes

This year’s iteration boasts not one, not two, but four cover athletes. Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan graces the Championship Edition along with his very own Michael Jordan Edition. The Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Editions have three-time NBA All-Star Devin Booker. Finally, there’s the WNBA Edition with Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, though it’s only exclusive to GameStop in the US and Canada.

Jordan Challenges Return

With Michael Jordan’s return as a cover athlete, The Jordan Challenges from NBA 2K11 return. All 10 original challenges, which cover legendary moments from his time in college, Team USA and the NBA, have been rebuilt and five new challenges added. More details are still to come but various teammates and rivals will also provide commentary and appear in special vignettes to reflect on Jordan’s career.

MyCareer – The City and Cruise return

Another mode that requires more details is MyCareer. Long story short, The City returns for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions, providing a brand-new city to explore with new arenas and courts. You can also choose a crew and compete against MyPlayers for supremacy. Previous-gen versions (and PC, unfortunately) will receive The Cruise yet again, competing on a cruise liner’s courts and reaping rewards while also embarking on shore excursions. It’s described as a “swashbuckling basketball journey” which implies pirates, but it’s better to wait for more information before getting your hopes up.

New Pro Stick Combos

For as much controversy as the NBA 2K series has received for its micro-transactions, the gameplay has usually been very solid. This year looks to revamp things significantly, starting with new Pro Stick combos. Flicking the stick allows for double throws and switchbacks along with new commands for metered skill dunks. Current-gen players also benefit from physics-based rim hangs, letting you control when and how long a player hangs from the rim following a dunk.

Adrenaline Boosts

Another new feature is Adrenaline Boost, presented as three bars under a player’s stamina meter. When going for an explosive sprint, a boost is consumed, and a player’s speed and acceleration go down when they’re all used. Only three boosts are available for each player per possession so knowing the right time to use them is important.

Shooting Attributes

Along with double the number of shot animations from previous games, NBA 2K23 also adds new Shooting Attributes. These include Shot Speed (how quickly a shot reaches the release point), Release Height (a shot’s height when released), Defensive Immunity (how well a shot performs in contests against defenders) and Timing Impact (where shot windows are adjusted, providing a bigger penalty for badly timed shots but greater rewards for good timing). Each signature jump has unique shooting stats, adding more strategy to shooting situations.

New Shot Meters

Last year’s revamped Shot Meter received some mixed reactions from fans. As a result, NBA 2K23 offers five Shot Meters with 15 more unlockable in post-launch Seasons over the coming year. Visual Concepts notes, “Each meter fills to the end, which is your ideal release point, then empties on the late side a la 2K17–2K20.” Shot arcs are also used for indicating when a player is too early, too late or on point with their timing. There’s also Shot Feedback which, when enabled, delays the “timing/coverage overlay and green release animations from coming up until the ball hits the basket” as per the developer, which is meant to encourage playing through possessions.

AI Improvements

The AI has also been improved this year, from a better understanding of defender positions to mixing up drive attempts. There’s also a new signature AI attack system where every star has a package of four signature attack combinations, whether it’s four single move sets or two combo move sets. If that weren’t enough, AI coaches are also smarter, now tracking efficiency across many metrics, doing pre-game match-up evaluations, and more. They may even take out a top scorer who isn’t doing so well and rotate other options in.

Revamped Team Takeover

Team Takeovers have been overhauled, now functioning as a cooperative effort among all team members. When each player performs well, they contribute to the Team Takeover meter, which will automatically activate for everyone when filled. Primary and second Takeovers remain unchanged but Team Takeovers now feel more like a team effort as opposed to arbitrarily filling up each Takeover meter.

Offensive and Defensive Improvements

Overall, there are tons of new options for both offensive and defensive plays, whether it’s new quick scoop layups for slashers and contact layups for the bigger players or the new defensive shading mechanic which provides an indicator for guarding. Accurately predicting which zone the ball handler attacks now allows for cutting them off or causing a fumble.

MyTeam

A staple of the past many titles, MyTeam returns in NBA 2K23 and features a larger set of customization tools for creating one’s ideal squad. This time around, one can recruit across any era, adding some legendary players to the roster (including Devin Booker and Michael Jordan, of course).

Player Builder Improvements

This year’s Player Builder is touted as offering “complete control” for one to create any type of player and ensure that every single one is “fun and balanced” (with current-gen players no longer restricted to the pie chart system). Along with a 5v5 environment for testing builds, you can now go with a 3v3 environment. A welcome change is the animations purchased now apply to your entire account instead of a save file. So if a build meets the requirements, then they can equip that animation without any issues.

New Badge System

Current-gen players can also use an overhauled Badge system. Each attribute category now has 16 Badges with Tier 1 having eight and Tiers 2 and 3 having four each. Higher tier Badges cost more Badge Points but are much more impactful; conversely, Tier 1 Badges are the least strong but are also very cheap. Each attribute category also gets a Core Badge which won’t count towards the Badge Point total. You’ll need to meet challenge requirements for each Badge but if successful, it can be used in the Core Badge slot. Badges have also seen several changes from Slithery now making it easier to avoid collisions and gather in traffic to the removal of some like Limitless Spot-Up, Hook Specialist and more.

4K/60 FPS and HDR on Current-Gen

According to its official Xbox page, NBA 2K23 supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X along with HDR. You can expect these same settings on the PS5 as well. The resolution and frame rate for the Xbox One and PS4 versions are unknown but they shouldn’t be too different from last year’s edition.

PC Requirements

PC players will need an Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10 GHz or an AMD FX-4100 @ 3.60 GHz or better, 4 GB of RAM and either a GeForce 1GB Radeon HD 7770 1 GB or better at the minimum. Recommended requirements include a Core i5-4430 @ 3 GHz or an AMD FX-8370 @ 3.4 GHz or better, 8 GB of RAM and either a GTX 770 2GB or Radeon R9 270 2GB or better. So in both cases, the requirements are pretty forgiving – it even supports Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 64-bit. However, a whopping 110 GB of space is needed for installation and you can bet that size will increase with future updates.

Championship Edition and Michael Jordan Edition Details

Of course, for all of the gameplay improvements, it’s all about the MyTeam Points, Virtual Currency and what have you. The Michael Jordan Edition costs $99.99 and includes the game along with 100,000 Virtual Currency, 10,000 MyTeam Points, 10 MyTeam Tokens, MyTeam Cards for a Sapphire Devin Booker and Ruby Michael Jordan, and 23 MyTeam Promo Packs with 10 available at launch along with an Amethyst topper pack and two doled out each week for six weeks. You also get a Free Agent Option MyTeam Pack, a Ruby Coach Card MyTeam Pack, a Diamond Jordan Shoe MyTeam card, a bunch of MyPlayer cosmetics, 10 Boosts for each Skill Boost type in MyCareer, and a two-hour double XP coin.

The Digital Championship Edition costs a whopping $149.99 and includes many of the same benefits as the Michael Jordan Edition. However, it also includes a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass, a Michael Jordan-themed go-kart and a 10 percent boost to XP earned in MyTeam and MyCareer.

Visual Concepts and 2K Games have detailed some of the key gameplay changes the upcoming basketball sim is making to its gameplay.

Since its announcement less than a month ago, we haven’t seen a great deal of NBA 2K23, with Visual Concepts and 2K having shown the first few brief glimpses of its gameplay only a few days ago. Now, however, with the basketball sim’s launch approaching, the developer and publisher have revealed details on some of the biggest gameplay improvements NBA 2K23 is making to the series’ formula.

Interestingly, Visual Concepts seem to have made it a point to emphasize the fact that the gameplay changes being made this year are in direct response to feedback from fans and players. Game director Mike Wang said in the press release, “We value community feedback when deciding how to bring each version of NBA 2K to life, and this year’s gameplay enhancements reflect many of the changes our community was calling for the most. From focusing on how players can attack the basket, to more realistic on-ball defense and a new tiered badge system, all the features we’ve brought to life in the game this year will create a more authentic gameplay experience that is enjoyable for everyone.”

So what exactly do these improvements include? Well, there’s quite a bit to get through. NBA 2K23’s big new addition is shooting attributes, which determines unique shooting stats and their effectiveness for every signature jumping shot. The game also introduces five new shot meters, with 15 more on top that can be unlocked through Seasonal content throughout the coming year.

Meanwhile, NBA 2K23 also attempts to deliver “more realistic on-ball defense and shot blocking, as well as steals and ball strips”, including more predictable outcomes for blocks, improved ball security for good dunkers, and more. Specifically on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game’s AI will also see improvements to ball handling, pick and roll execution, defensive tendencies, and coaching decisions.

Team Takeovers have also been redesigned in NBA 2K23, with the entire team now sharing a single meter and create a more cooperative system, while new gesture combos have also been added to the pro stick for dunking, shooting, ball handling, and more. Meanwhile, another new feature is Adrenaline Boosts, which get used up every time a player performs a hard go or explosive sprint launch. You get three Boosts in total, and once they’re used up, the player’s speed and acceleration will be affected for the remainder of possession.

Finally, NBA 2K23 is also introducing a new Badges system, only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will feature 16 badges across three tiers, eight in the first and four each in the remaining two, with players being required to have a minimum number of badges in the lower tiers equipped before being able to move on to the higher ones.

NBA 2K23 launches on September 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

We look forward to celebrating this game with the community when it’s released on September 9.”
