Last year’s fun sci-fi RPG romp is something you’ll be able to take on the go when the Switch version launches later this year. We haven’t seen a whole lot of that version, outside a few screenshots which you can look at here. And unfortunately, it seems we won’t be seeing much soon as the port has been pushed back due to the global outbreak of coronavirus.

As announced via publisher Private Division’s official Twitter page, they made the abrupt announcement that the developer handling the port job, Virtuos, has their offices closed in Singapore, and they need more time to finish. They clarify that the team is okay, so most likely they are closed for precautionary quarantine. As a bit of good news, they do confirm the game’s physical edition will come with the game on cart now.

The Outer Worlds is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Switch version, as of now, has no time frame. The game does also have DLC due out this year, though nothing official has been stated about it as of now.

We’ll now be releasing the physical version on cartridge. Once we have a new launch date, we’ll let you know!

Our first look at the port is a bit blurry.

The Outer Worlds was a fun romp last year, a game that was a much needed throwback to some old school RPGs. It was mostly well received and sold well, meaning developer Obsidian Entertainment probably has a franchise on their hands. It’s also a game you’re about to able to take on the go here in a month’s time with a Switch port. While there’s been little footage of said port, we did get some screens today.

Nintendo UK posted three screenshots from the Switch version of the game, which you can see below. It’s not clear if this is captured in console or handheld mode. It looks decent, but there’s definitely some blurriness and washed colors, but it’ll be hard to tell without the game being in motion what the final product will look like. Fingers crossed it’ll run well.

The Outer Worlds is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with the Switch version slated to hit March 6th. The game is also still scheduled to get DLC sometime this year.

A look at The Outer Worlds' goofier side.

Obsidian Entertainment is hoping The Outer Worlds will be a launching point for a new franchise. The RPG takes a lot from its Fallout roots and looks to do something both familiar and different. It will be filled with morally-grey choices and storytelling, but it also certainly has a sense of humor about it. Today during the Inside Xbox conference, we got a bit of that in a new interview.

Senior Narrative Designer Megan Starks spoke about several aspects of the game, focusing a lot on companions and how you control them, as well as how you chose different routes for your character. One route she talked about was the “mad scientist route.” Choosing to focus on that will bring you into the goofier aspects of the game like shrink rays or a weapon that rearranges the body parts of enemies. Check it out below.

The Outer Worlds will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th. A Switch version will come sometime after. You can check out the first 40 minutes of the game through here.

Not all your choices will be black and white.

The Outer Worlds is aiming to be a space based RPG that will capture both the humor and feeling of classic RPGs in the Fallout style. The developer worked on Fallout: New Vegas, an entry many feel is underrated compared to its Bethesda developed siblings, so expectations are high for this one. Much as you’d expect, the game will feature a lot of choices, and not all of them will be easy.

In an interview with GamesIndustry, Obsidian Entertainment’s Senior Designer Brian Heins laid out how the game’s morally grey areas can lead to hard choices. While there is a main villain group in the form of The Board, he says they want to both put a human face on them as well as put you in situations where you can see their point of view even if you’re suppose to be opposed to them.

“We wanted to give a personal touch to the faceless corporations. If you can’t sympathise with the corporate board, you can sympathise with the person you are dealing with in the game,” Heins explained.

“Choices are interesting when they’re hard,” he added, “when both sides have equal weight to their argument and you have to decide which one to go with. That’s much more interesting than if one side is clearly right, the other is clearly wrong and you don’t have to think about the choice at all.”

Microsoft seemingly wants to expanded the game into a full franchise, as they’ve recently acquired Obsidian. Hopefully, story beats like this will land and make the game that much more successful for the two companies. We’ll find out when The Outer Worlds launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th. A Switch version is also in the works, but as of now there’s been no release window.

Ten years after the game originally released, Obsidian’s sequel to Bioware’s seminal Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is now finally available on Mac and Linux computers. That’s not all, either, as Windows users will also get some brand new updates to their versions of the game, that will bring it on par with the new, enhanced Mac and Linux versions that have been released.

These updates to the game include enhanced graphics with support for resolutions up to 4K, as well as brand new achievements added to the story. The game will also now have official support for the Steam Workshop, meaning the game’s thriving mod scene can now get even better.

The full list of updates includes:

• 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay
• Steam Cloud saves
• Native widescreen resolution support
• Resolution support up to 4K and 5K
• Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4, along with several others
• Steam Workshop support! We proudly worked with the Restored Content Mod Team to have their famous TSLRCM up on launch day

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is now available on PC, Mac, and Linux computers.
