After launching last year for other platforms to strong success, Private Division has announced that The Outer Worlds would release on March 6th for Nintendo Switch. The Switch port is being handled by Virtuos and will be available at retail and via the Nintendo eShop. Unfortunately, the retail version only contains a digital code and no physical game card.
The Outer Worlds takes place in the far future where various megacorporations have colonized different planets in the Halcyon system. Adrift on a colony ship, the protagonist awakens and eventually embarks on a mission to save their fellow colonists. Things quickly spiral out of control as different factions vie for power and it’s up to the player to decide how things should shake out.
While we’re unsure how the Switch version looks or plays, Obsidian Entertainment was “very, very surprised” upon seeing the proof of concept from Virtuos. So we’ll see how it shakes out at launch. For everyone else, DLC for the game has been confirmed for release this year.
Citizens of Halcyon! We are proud to announce that we're extending the universe of #TheOuterWorlds to Nintendo Switch on March 6th.
