In a LinkedIn post, CEO Piotr Babieno confirmed that "it definitely doesn't refer to any remake" in light of rampant speculation.

While Bloober Team may have set the Internet alight with speculation thanks to its mysterious countdown website “RemosdNeulSerorehsoOvamCeyerd.com,” the studio has confirmed that it is not leading up to a remake of the Punchline-developed horror title Rule of Rose. Speculation on it being a remake of the 2006 game came about thanks to similar imagery of a rose being present on the website.

“If this is teasing a Rule of Rose remake by Blooper Team that would actually be insane,” wrote social media user Radec. However, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has ended this speculation by confirming that there will be no remake. “Nice guess, but no. It definitely doesn’t refer to any remake,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

The studio may continue to maintain its silence over what the website is counting down to, but some speculation indicates that it is going to be Project M, which Bloober Team had announced in February 2023. The project is slated to be a survival horror game coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch, and Babieno said that it will “introduce a bold twist” that hasn’t been done in the survival horror genre before. He also called it a “vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware”.

Just last week, the countdown website had been updated with some new text, and a mysterious distorted voiceover of a man reciting lines from William Blake’s poem “The Sick Rose“. The text said: “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” At the time of publishing, the countdown timer still has 12 days remaining.

Owing to a recently spotted European trademark, the mysterious game is believed to be titled “Onyx: The Dark Grip“. This trademark was applied for all the way back in March 2024, with the registration going through later that year in August (with the latest update being last January).

Aside from Project M or Onyx (whatever it ends up called), Bloober Team has confirmed that it has started development on the remake of the original Silent Hill had begun back in October.

“We have two first party production teams, one of which is working on the Silent Hill 1 project and the other has started work on the next project,” said the studio during a Q&A session with investors. “As part of the second party, there are currently 5 projects.”

The latest Bloober Team game is Cronos: The New Dawn, which was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in September. The survival horror game saw some early success, with 200,000+ launch-day sales and hitting the 500,000 sales milestone by November.
If this is indeed the Switch 2-exclusive Project M, perhaps we'll hear more about it in next week's rumored Nintendo Direct.

Remember when Bloober Team began the year with a mysterious countdown website, teasing a reveal on February 15th? “RemosdNeulSerorehsoOvamCeyerd.com,” which still rolls off the tongue, also has some new text and a voiceover to further add to the mystery.

The text states, “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” Pressing the play button will reveal some scratchy audio, followed by a man reciting lines from “The Sick Rose” by William Blake. “Thou art sick. Invisible flies in the night. Howling storm has found out thy bed of crimson joy. Dark secret thy life destroy.”

Not the most coherent of hints, but at the very least, we’re getting closer to a reveal. It’s worth noting that Bloober Team trademarked Onyx: The Dark Grip in Europe in 2024. This could be the name of its next project, and may even refer to the “dark secret” that players must carry.

While Bloober Team has Silent Hill 1 Remake in the works and whatever the Cronos: The New Dawn team is working on (besides an Easy mode), it’s also teased Project M. Exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, studio CEO Piotr Babieno promised a “bold twist” and a “vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”

He also singled out Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo and Eternal Darkness fans specifically as those who would feel “immediately at home” with it. Time will tell, but given that it’s Switch 2-exclusive, it could show up at the rumored Nintendo Direct, reportedly set to air next week. Perhaps a reveal trailer, followed by a deeper dive on February 15th? Stay tuned for more updates.

The new title could be Project M, announced back in 2023 and seemingly offering a "vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware."

Not content with revitalizing interest in the Silent Hill franchise and releasing a worthy successor to Dead Space in the span of a year, Bloober Team is teasing a new project. A teaser website, “RemosdNeulSerorehsoOvamCeyerd.com,” emerged on New Year’s Eve, counting down to an announcement on February 15th.

However, a recent trademark in Europe, as discovered by Reddit, may have already spoiled the surprise. Titled “Onyx: The Dark Grip,” Bloober Team applied for the trademark in March 2024 – it was registered several months later in August and seemingly updated today. Unless this is a codename, you might want to dash those hopes for a new Eternal Darkness.

So what is it? Perhaps it’s Project M, a Nintendo Switch-exclusive survival horror title announced back in February 2023. In a recent interview with Nintendo Insider, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said that it would “introduce a bold twist” that hasn’t been seen in any other horror titles. It’s apparently a “vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”

Whatever it may end up being, Babieno promised that fans of “Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness will immediately feel at home.” A new twist on the Sanity system, perhaps? One could certainly hope.

In the meantime, Bloober Team is also working on a remake of Silent Hill 1. It also recently released Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece for Nintendo Switch 2 and is working on an Easy difficulty for Cronos: The New Dawn called Temporal Diver, launching in early 2026.
