Even if it releases a critically acclaimed remake like Silent Hill 2 or the less successful but still well-received Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team inevitably returns to Layers of Fear. Case in point, Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece Edition, a Nintendo Switch 2 port of 2023’s Layers of Fear. It’s out on December 19th for $39.99.
Yes, it shares the same name as the first game and even includes it alongside Layers of Fear 2 and all the DLC. The key difference is that the new version connects all these stories courtesy of a new protagonist, The Writer.
There’s also the new DLCs, namely The Final Note, focusing on The Painter’s Wife and The Final Prologue, which answers lingering questions about the second game’s Director. Check out our review for Layers of Fear (2023) to learn more. It’s currently available for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
As for Bloober Team’s other projects, it’s working on a remake of Silent Hill 1 and an unannounced project.
