Atlus and Omega Force’s musou action-RPG Persona 5 spinoff Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, as it’s called in Japan) launch in Japan in February of this year, and though Koei Tecmo have said on a number of occasions that the game will be coming to the West eventually, no official announcement has been made thus far.

Recently, however, an unlisted trailer uploaded to YouTube spilled the beans on that Western launch, with Persona 5 Strikers supposedly due out on February 23, 2021. Even though that unlisted video has since been removed, it seems the official announcement will be coming soon anyway. Atlus recently took to Twitter via their official western account and confirmed that “all will be revealed” on December 8, with a link to the game’s webpage provided alongside their message. So, you know- expect the announcement soon.

As per the aforementioned unlisted trailer, when Persona 5 Strikers launches, it will be available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Famitsu has released its newest weekly charts for video game software and hardware sales in Japan, and on the software front, Pokemon Sword and Shield have climbed back into pole position. The RPG duo sold nearly 25,000 units, which is over 6,000 more than what it managed last week.

Meanwhile, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, which debuted on top of the charts last week, has seen a drop in sales. The PS4 version comes in at second place, selling over 19,000 units, while the Nintendo Switch version, which occupied second place last week, has dropped down to No. 8, selling just shy of 9,000 copies. Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is the only new release in the top 10 this week, selling over 11,000 copies to claim the sixth spot.

On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch, which saw a significant drop in sales last week due to stock shortages amidst the coronavirus outbreak, has seen a bit of a bump in sales, selling over 53,000 units.

Persona 5 Scramble’s announcement was sort of overshadowed by the announcement of Persona 5 Royal, while many also dismissed the former as yet another musou spinoff from a major franchise. However, in the months since then, everything that we’ve seen and heard of Persona 5 S have been very impressive, to the extent that it’s almost looking like a full-fledged sequel- something that the game’s most recent trailer hints at quite heavily.

Recently, YouTube channel Amari Odorokanai Gacchiman wa Horror Game Bakari Yatteiru livestreamed over two hours of Persona 5 S gameplay (via Gematsu), and the game is continuing to look as impressive as ever. There’s plenty of footage of combat, exploration, dialogue, and more in there, and it’s definitely worth checking out. Take a look below.
