Rumors of Persona 5 coming to the Nintendo Switch are so prevalent at this point in time that there are only two possibilities – either it is actually happening, or the world is collectively trying to will it into happening by not shutting up about it.

After Persona 5R’s announcement failed to mention the Switch at all, expectations were that a Switch version would be announced either in March, where Atlus has a broadcast of the Persona 5 anime planned, and they promised more Persona 5R information for, or April, during the next Persona concert. And it seems like that may be happening, because another alleged insider is saying Persona 5 is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Mr. Ohya previously leaked Persona 5R before it happened; now, he has taken to Twitter to talk about Persona 5 coming to the Nintendo Switch as Persona 5S (it seems like Atlus is following the Dragon Quest naming scheme here). Mr. Ohya says this game will launch in Fall 2019, alongside a version for PS4 (presumably Persona 5R), and that it will be revealed before May—presumably during one of the two events previously spoken of in this article.

We’ll know how much veracity there is to these claims soon enough, but given just how much smoke there is, there has to be some fire too.

Persona 5 R was announced late last year in the most confusing way possible. We got a video that confirmed it is a thing, and that it will be on PlayStation platforms (though not necessarily exclusive to them), but we don’t know what it is, or if it even is an “it”—it might just as well be more than one game, for instance.

The one thing Atlus did confirm was that they would be sharing more information on the game come March. And now, Sega has announced Sega Fes 2019, its annual show, for March 30 and March 31 2019, and confirmed that all partners in the Sega group (which includes Atlus, since they own Atlus) will be showing up there. This seems to indicate that we may finally get an update on Persona 5 R at the event.

Other Sega games, such as the new Yakuza title, might also be shown off here, as might be new announcements entirely. It’s unclear what all we can expect from the show—but if you are a fan of Sega’s output, be sure to tune in.

Persona 5R is allegedly the expanded re-release of Persona 5, in the vein of Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden. Judging by rumors surrounding the inclusion of Joker as DLC in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is also rumoured to be coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, rumors are all these have been thus far. We haven’t had any official word or indication from either Nintendo or Atlus yet.

That said, whatever Persona 5R is may soon be announced officially anyway. According to Persona Central, the domain for Persona 5R, registered by Atlus a while ago has been updated. Citing examples such as Persona Q2 and Catherine Full Body, Persona Central points out that Atlus usually updates domains on the eve of official announcements, and that we may therefore expect a Persona 5R announcement soon enough.

Will it be during the concert Atlus has already announced for April? Or maybe in a January Nintendo Direct? Maybe it will be neither, and Atlus will just randomly drop the announcement one day? Who knows? Hopefully it is announced soon either way.
