A Persona 5 revision, one presumably with expanded story content, and a portable release (which we assume may be on the Switch, given the Joker DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) has been rumoured for a while now. In fact, shortly after the Joker DLC was announced, people came out of the woods claiming that the revision would be called Persona 5 Reloaded, and that it will hit the Switch.

At the time, those rumors seemed easy to dismiss: A new DLC announcement associated with a game that people have been asking for on the Switch for a long time, and now suddenly that game gets announced for Switch? Too convenient. However, now there’s a bit more substance to the rumors regarding a Persona 5 Reloaded.

Persona Central reports that on 2 Channel, a Japanese message board, a leaker on December 10 leaked three pieces of information: a Granblue Fantasy fighting game by Arc Systems Works, a Persona 5 fighting game by Arc Systems Works, and Persona 5 “R” for the Switch, a revised version of Persona 5, which the Joker DLC in Smash is meant to be an advertisement for, so to speak.

While this rumor would be easy to dismiss, one week later, Granblue Fantasy Versus, a fighting game on Granblue Fantasy by Arc Systems Works, was announced, which suddenly gives a lot more credence to the whole batch of rumors. In fact, put it together with comments made by Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime regarding a Switch port for Persona 5, and the whole thing starts to look like a foregone conclusion.

Regardless of the perceived veracity of the rumor, or how much sense it makes, however, it is a rumor, so treat it as such. For now, if you want to play Persona 5, you need to get it on PS3 or PS4.
