Nintendo’s President Comments on Persona 5 for Nintendo Switch

If Reggie knows the answer to this question, he’s not going to share it with us that easily.

Has there been any game that has been more requested for the Nintendo Switch than Persona 5? Fans around the world have been clamouring for a Switch release of the beloved RPG, and their demands grew shriller last night, emboldened by the announcement that the first DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be Joker from Persona 5. After all, why add a character from a game that is exclusive to a competing platform?

So, is Persona 5 coming to Switch? If it is, Nintendo’s President Reggie Fils-Aime isn’t telling anyone. Speaking to IGN, Fils-Aime, when asked the question regarding Persona on Switch, deftly sidestepped responding, saying only “I can’t comment on that”, and instead talking about third party content on Switch from Nintendo’s perspective as a platform holder.

“You know, I can’t comment on that,” he said. “Again, from our perspective, we’ve been clear. We want all the best content on our platform. All the best content, all the best developers. And so our job is to continue growing the install base for Nintendo Switch to drive engagement of our players, to grow the audience. As that happens, then developers see the opportunity.”

Which… isn’t really an answer. If Persona 5 is happening on Switch, however, we will find out soon. Atlus does have an event lined up for April, maybe it could be an announcement there? For now, if you want to play the game, it’s out on PS3 and PS4.
