Incredibly enough, a sequel to Alien: Isolation is finally in development, but though it’s nowhere close to launch just yet, fans of survival horror Alien do have something else to look forward to. Survios’ first-person survival horror title Alien: Rogue Incursion is due out imminently for VR devices, and the developer has released a launch trailer to hype up its imminent release. Check it out below.

Alien: Rogue Incursion will see players stepping into the shoes of Zula Hendricks, a former Colonial Marine who embarks on a mission to the uncharted planet Purdan. Infiltrating a research facility, she will face a number of different threats, including corporate controversies and, as you may expect, what Survios is calling “the most cunning Xenomorphs ever encountered”. In short, she’s going to have her hands full.

Alien: Rogue Incursion is due out imminently, on December 19, for PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 3, and Steam VR.

The co-op horror title launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation VR at the end of October.

After multiple delays, Kinetic Games’ acclaimed co-op horror title Phasmophobia finally launched for consoles at the end of October, and since its release, it’s attracted players in impressive numbers, as per the developer.

Taking to Twitter, Kinetic Games revealed that Phasmophobia has surpassed 1 million players across PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S since launching for the platforms roughly a month ago. Earlier this year, the studio announced that the game had sold over 20 million units on PC alone since launching for the platform in early access back in 2020, and clearly the game has continued its enduring success on consoles as well.

In our review of the game’s PS5 version, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Kinetic Games’ Phasmophobia is a surprisingly scary experience, solo and with friends, though several features – like the lobby browser – need more work.” Read the full review through here.

Phasmophobia is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS VR2, and PC. The game’s price on PC also increased to $19.99 earlier this year, having previously been set at $13.99 for several years since its early access launch.

Survios' first-person survival horror game is due out on December 19 for PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 3, and SteamVR.

The demand for survival horror Alien games never really goes away, and though many are going to have their eyes keenly fixed on Alien: Isolation 2 for some years to come, the IP has another game in the genre to deliver much sooner than that. Alien: Rogue Incursion will bring its horrors to VR headsets next month, and ahead of its release, developer Survios has showcased a new trailer.

With this trailer, the focus is squarely on the game’s story, which will see players stepping into the shoes of protagonist ex-Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, who flies to the remote planet of LV-354, also known as Purdan, to investigate a distress call from a former squadmate.

Things go wrong, as they often do in the Alien universe, and as you may have guessed, Zula eventually finds herself in the middle of a smattering of crises, from a terrifying Xenomorph outbreak to corporate corruption and intrigue, and more. Check out the trailer below for more glimpses of what the game will have in store.

Previously set for December, the additional time will allow IO Interactive to polish the experience and add active reloading.

IO Interactive’s Hitman World of Assassination has been delayed for PlayStation VR2, launching on March 27th, 2025, instead of this December. In a new PlayStation Blog post, the developer explained that the decision “was not made lightly.”

“We know there was a lot of demand to bring Hitman on PS VR2, and we were excited to see the great reception following the announcement. As such, our priority will always remain to deliver an amazing experience that meets the high standards our players expect.” While the additional time is being used for more polish, it also allows for new features like active reloading.

This provides greater control over reloading while amping up the realism, as players must actually grab and slot a new clip into their guns in VR. It’s also confirmed that positional interactions, where players must turn on a TV or poison drinks with the corresponding motions, also extend to quest items. Be prepared to mimic swiping keycards and turning locks in doors. If that wasn’t enough, snatching a disguise is more “physics-based” and depends on “positional control, grabbing, and momentum.”

Stay tuned for more details and gameplay for Hitman World of Assassination on PlayStation VR2 in the coming months. It will be available at $9.99 for current owners, encompassing the main campaign with 20 unique locations and over 100 weapons and items.

Game director Samar Louwe speaks with GamingBolt about the Metro franchise's virtual reality debut.

The Metro franchise has never failed to impress so far, and though it remains to be seen how long we’ll be waiting for its next mainline instalment, those who’re craving more Metro do have Metro Awakening to turn to. Developed by Vertigo Games exclusively for VR devices, Metro Awakening is promising a tense, immersive, and authentic Metro experience, while also telling an original story penned by Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky himself.

Out now for Meta Quest 2 and 3, PS VR2, and SteamVR, the first-person shooter has obviously turned a few heads, and to learn more about it and how it translates the Metro formula to the VR medium, we recently had the chance to send across some of our questions about the game to its developers. Below, you can read our interview with game director Samar Louwe.

NOTE: This interview was conducted prior to the game’s launch.

"The Metro series has always thrived on immersion, and immersion is also at the core of VR, so it was a natural fit."

As a franchise, Metro has always been focused on immersing players in their settings while delivering top notch graphical presentation. Was that what led to exploring making a VR game in the series, given how well suited that sort of an experience could potentially be to virtual reality?

Definitely. As you said, the Metro series has always thrived on immersion, and immersion is also at the core of VR, so it was a natural fit. VR can take this to a whole new level—putting players right in the heart of the Metro tunnels, surrounded by the eerie atmosphere and the threats lurking in the dark. The combination of VR’s unique capabilities and the storytelling depth of Metro really excited us.

What other VR games, if any, did you draw inspiration from?

Even though it’s almost 5 years old, Half-Life: Alyx is still very relevant. At the time it showed the VR industry how it was done. Now, it’s still what new games will be compared to when they are released. But we also have a pool of knowledge to draw from in-house. When the team was done with Arizona Sunshine 2 they were able to jump in and help us out with all the lessons they had learned.

Metro Awakening is the first game in the series not developed by 4A Games. How connected to those other titles is it? Did you get the chance to collaborate with them on this title?

We collaborated with 4A Games throughout development. They provided us with assets and references from the mainline series, which helped ensure that we stayed true to the essence of the games.

What has the experience of working with Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky been like? How heavily has been involved with the game’s development?

Working with Dmitry Glukhovsky has been an invaluable experience. Right from the start, we reached out to him to make sure the story would feel authentic to the Metro series. He ended up surprising us by crafting something really personal and emotional. That direction pushed us to go all in on a story-driven approach, putting character development right up there with atmosphere and gameplay. Dmitry brought such depth to Metro Awakening, helping us create something that feels true to the Metro world but also fresh and introspective in a way we hadn’t initially expected.

"We collaborated with 4A Games throughout development. They provided us with assets and references from the mainline series, which helped ensure that we stayed true to the essence of the games."

How easy was it to translate a complex console FPS to the different input and controls of VR?

It definitely required a shift in thinking. In VR, players aren’t just pressing buttons—they’re physically interacting with the world, which meant reimagining core actions like aiming, shooting, and even putting on a gas mask to feel natural and immersive. We worked closely with our gameplay team from the start to fine-tune these interactions until everything felt responsive and true to the Metro universe. It was challenging, but the result is an experience where every action feels immediate and engaging, making the world come to life in a whole new way.

Will Metro Awakening be a largely linear experience like the series’ earlier entries, or can players expect some elements of open-ended exploration similar to Metro Exodus?

The way Exodus ventured into new territory with its open world structure was a great step for the mainline games, it elevated the game to new heights. As a player I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it. But the story in Exodus is also about Artyom venturing out, escaping the Moscow metro system, on a quest to see what more is out there. Whereas the story Dmitry wrote for Metro Awakening is much more targeted: you must find your wife. So, it was only logical not to distract our players (and protagonist) with open-ended areas. Additionally, since this is a story that’s set before the events of 2033, it made a lot more sense to stick to the original setting.

The charm of the earlier games is also a very good fit for the immersive nature of VR. The confined spaces in the Moscow underground allowed for the pressing and inescapable atmosphere that we knew was going to be successful for our medium.

The Metro franchise has always been particularly effective at delivering its own brand of unique, post-apocalyptic horror. How have you approached translating that to a VR experience with Metro Awakening?

Our approach has been to amplify Metro’s unique sense of tension and dread through VR’s immersive capabilities. Spatial audio, dynamic lighting, and physical interactivity are all key to creating an atmosphere that keeps players on edge. VR lets players engage directly with the environment, whether it’s wiping fog off their gas masks or navigating through dark, claustrophobic tunnels. By bringing players directly into these intense moments, we’re creating an experience that feels immediate and visceral heightening both the fear and the wonder that Metro is known for. This is Metro at its most intimate.

"We worked closely with our gameplay team from the start to fine-tune these interactions until everything felt responsive and true to the Metro universe. It was challenging, but the result is an experience where every action feels immediate and engaging, making the world come to life in a whole new way."

Roughly how long will an average playthrough of the game be?

It varies depending on the player’s approach and style—something we’re already seeing with players who have access to the Deluxe Edition—but on average, a playthrough should take around 10 hours.

Metro Awakening is targeting all major VR platforms at launch. How has the experience been working on these three very different takes on VR at the same time?

It was a conscious decision to ensure we delivered a consistent experience across PC VR, Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2, while still allowing for certain areas to shine on higher-end platforms like PC and PlayStation. So, it has been both a challenge and an opportunity. Higher-end systems let us implement advanced rendering and lighting for enhanced visuals, while Meta Quest pushed us to innovate in performance optimization. Our technical teams have collaborated closely, balancing fidelity and performance, and ensuring the game looks and plays its best on every platform. It’s been a rewarding journey that’s pushed us to be creative and adapt, making the most of what each platform has to offer.

After multiple delays over the course of the last year, Kinetic Games' acclaimed co-op horror title is finally also available on consoles.

If things had proceeded as planned, this would have happened a year ago, but better late than never, right? Kinetic Games’ acclaimed co-op horror title Phasmophobia saw multiple delays on its way to consoles, but the game is now finally out on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PS VR2, just in time for Halloween.

Phasmophobia features cross-platform support across all platforms, which means players on all platforms can band together for excursions into the game’s many maps as they try to decipher clues and find and identify all manner of supernatural entities- while trying not to get killed, of course.

As revealed recently by the developer, on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game runs at 4K and 60 FPS, while on the latter, it also features a 120 FPS option. On Xbox Series S, meanwhile, it run at 1080p and 60 FPS, with no other graphics option being available.

Phasmophobia is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS VR2, and PC. Kinetic Games announced earlier in the year that the game had sold over 20 million units since its early access release in 2020.

Following a delay of more than a year, Kinetic Games' acclaimed co-op horror title is finally making its way over to consoles later this month.

Phasmophobia’s console launch has ended taking much longer than anyone could have expected, with developer Kinetic Games’ original plan having been to bring the game to PlayStation and Xbox last August. After multiple delays, the developer announced earlier this year that the co-op horror title would finally come to consoles this October, and now, a specific release date has been announced.

Phasmophobia launches in early access for PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S on October 29, with cross-platform multiplayer supported across all platforms (including PC, of course). As previously announced, the game will be sold at a price of $19.99.

Kinetic Games CEO Daniel Knight said, “We are so happy to see Phasmophobia enter console early access. The community has been asking for console versions, and has waited a little while for it to happen. The development team at Kinetic Games have worked exceptionally hard to make this request a reality.”

Meanwhile, Kinetic Games has also announced that Phasmophobia has now sold over 20 million units worldwide. The game has been available for PC in early access since September 2020.

PlayStation's lead system architect Mark Cerny has confirmed that the company's proprietary supersampling tech will also eventually support the PlayStaton VR2.

When the PS5 Pro launches this November, one of the more intriguing new things it will bring to the table will be Sony’s new proprietary supersampling technology, dubbed PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which will allow games on the enhanced console to run with better fidelity thanks to AI upscaling.

In a preview published by CNET, lead system architect Mark Cerny also additionally revealed that PSSR will work with PS VR2 games “in the future”, too. How long after the PS5 Pro’s release support will arrive for the virtual reality headset remains to be seen, while it should also be interesting to see if PSSR will be supported when using the device to play PC VR titles using the headset’s PC adapter.

PS5 Pro is set to launch on November 7. It will retail for $699.99, and will launch with 40-50 PS5 Pro Enhanced titles. That will be in addition to support for 8K gaming and VRR, as well as a 2TB SSD.
