Sony has finally announced the PlayStation 5 Pro after months of rumors. Featuring a slightly modified PS5 Slim design with three slits on the outer panels, it launches on November 7th for a whopping $699.99/£699.99/€799.99/¥119,980. There’s no disc drive, and the vertical stand is sold separately.
As per the leaks, the console sports an upgraded GPU with 45 percent faster rendering and 28 percent faster memory than the base console. It also offers over 67 percent more Compute Units. Ray tracing is also bumped up for more dynamic reflections and light refractions, doubling and sometimes tripling the cast speeds.
Finally, there’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s proprietary AI upscaling resolution for sharper image clarity. The focus, as lead architect Mark Cerny outlined, is to provide the benefits of both Fidelity and Performance Modes from the PS5 without their compromises. Long story short, players can avail of higher resolutions, frame rates and visual fidelity. Stay tuned for more details on the console shortly.
