God of War director Cory Barlog has been maintaining that there is one secret within the game that fans have not yet discovered ever since his interview with GamingBolt some months ago. This continued all the way through to San Diego Comic Con last week, where, speaking during a panel, Sony Santa Monica showed off an early comic strip they had developed as a concept to flesh out the character of Atreus, Kratos’ son.

Following this, a tweet from Senior Concept artist Joe Kennedy stated that the final secret in the game is related to this comic strip, titled “The Hunt”. Players have already known for some time that it is hidden around Kratos’ home, which is right where you begin your journey with Kratos and Atreus. Will players now be able to find what it is, having being given this direction? And whatever the secret is, will it be worth the wait and the hype surrounding it?

Many will say it’s about the whole process of unearthing it more than whatever it turns out to be. I would agree with them. God of War is available now, exclusively on PS4.

The developers revealed a lot of new information about the game at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

A new trailer for Spider-Man was only recently released, and we even received a lot of new details about the game soon afterwards. It’s fair to say that it had quite a big presence at San Diego Comic Con this year. In fact, some of it was livestreamed by Marvel, and we got to hear lots of new information about the game from the developers, including Creative Director Bryan Intihar, Art Director Jacinda Chew, Game Director Ryan Smith, and Marvel Games’ Executive Director Bill Rosemann.

First of all, we learn that the team’s approach has been to be respectful to the franchise as a whole while also bringing their own unique twist to the story, which is something they’ve said in the past as well. It also looks like a lot of work has been put into recreating the city of New York, and the developers stated that they treated the city as if it was another character. For instance, they hired graffiti artists to work on street art used within the game, to make it look authentic, and have even made sure that every neighbourhood in the game feels different than the others, and authentic to its real-life counterpart. In Wall Street, for example, there are going to be some really cool “Marvel elements”, but what those might be wasn’t spoiled. Traversal around the city was one of the first things that the team focused on when making the game. When Spidey moves around the city, citizens will recognize him and will often greet him and even interact him with in a number of ways.

Additionally, one of the challenges for the team was to create the sense of speed, and this was achieved through visual effects and camera motion. As of now, web swinging in the game feels very natural. The developers have also made sure to have that same sense of flow in the game’s combat as well. Spider-Man will also have quite a few gadgets at his disposal that are responsible for that particular fact, and some of these can even be used for stealth. The team has also put a lot of work into designing Spider-Man’s suits, of which he will have several different kinds to choose from.

You will also not be restricted to sticking with the look of the suit whose abilities you want to use, as you will be able to use any suit’s powers while wearing any suit in the game, by swapping out the powers you want to use. The developers had examined over 60 different suits, and they combined what they liked out of these to make their suits in the game, several of which have yet to be revealed. In total, their are more suits in the game than Insomniac had initially intended to include. We also learned that Intihar’s favorite villain in the game hasn’t even been shown yet, so there’s something to look forward to!

You can check out the entire livestream below. Spider-Man is set to release for the PS4 on September 7.

Loads of interesting new details on Spider-Man have come out of SDCC.

Spider-Man’s had a pretty major presence at San Diego Comic Con this year. Recently, a new trailer was released for the game, that revealed characters such as Silver Sable, while also shedding more light on the role other fan-favourites such as Miles Morales and Mary Jane Watson will be playing in the game.

In addition to that, though, even more information has come out on the game, thanks to a long discussion about it during a livestream with game director Bryan Initihar, Marvel Games’ executive director Bill Rosemann, and the actor who will be playing Peter Parker, Yuri Lowenthal.

They spent quite a bit of time talking about Miles Morales and Silver Sable, both of whom had plenty of screen time in the most recent trailer. Miles Morales, as per them, is characterized in the game pretty much how he’s portrayed in the comics- he’s basically a Spidey fan himself, and it’s looking like the game is going to be focusing on the relationship between Miles and Peter pretty strongly, with the latter often having to lean on the former in times of need. Actor Yuri Lowenthal even said that his scenes with Miles Morales were some of his own personal favourites. Another question about Miles was also posed- will he be a playable character? The answer to that, interestingly enough, was “you’ll find out on September 7th.” So that’s not a no, then. Interesting, to say the least.

Moving on to Silver Sable, she’s going to be portrayed by the actor Nichole Elise. Insomniac and Marvel are describing her interactions with Spider-Man as an “interesting and unexpected dynamic”. The Silver Agents, who’re also going to play a pretty important role in the game, hail from the same country as Silver Sable herself, and their design has also been modelled after her.

A fair bit of time during the livestream was also spent on talking about the characterization of Spider-Man a.k.a. Peter Parker himself, which honestly seems to be sticking very close to what we’ve all grown familiar with from the comics (and other media adaptations). While he’s in the suit, Spidey will be more confident and calm, whereas when he’s just regular old Peter Parker, he will be a bit more awkward- as Peter Parker is supposed to be. His voice and the way he talks to people, in fact, will also change depending on whether or not he’s in the suit- but not in all situations, of course. With someone like MJ he will, for obvious reasons, always be Peter Parker.

Speaking of Mary Jane Watson, some time was also spent on talking about the changes that Spider-Man is making to her character. Though Insomniac have been very respectful of the Spider-Man property, having been fans of its for years themselves, they still haven’t been “afraid to mix it up”. As such, in order to give her more agency, her own motivations for the story she will be a major part of, and in order to include her in the story more organically, in the game she’s going to be a reporter for the Daily Bugle. Of course, we’ve also known for some time that she’s going to be a playable character as well, at least in some capacity, so it should be interesting to see how she’s portrayed in the game.

Another thing that was discussed a bit was the recently revealed Velocity Suit. For starters, they said the suit’s name should give us an idea of what unique abilities it will provide- which, yeah, doesn’t really take a genius to figure that part out. More importantly, though, the Velocity Suit was designed with the mindset that it should be authentic to Marvel properties. As such, they brought in Adi Granov to design it. Granov, of course, has been known for designing the new Black Panther suit, as well as his work in the Iron Man movies, not to mention his illustrations for several covers of the Nova comics.

Black Cat was also discussed- the antihero, whose design will closely resemble her design in the comics, but with a modern twist (so, basically like every other character in the game), will be appearing in The City That Never Sleeps, which is going to be the game’s very first DLC. However, hints for the character will also appear in the base game itself, so be on the lookout for that.

Finally, something else that was said that sounds interesting is that there is still “a metric ton” of stuff from the game that Sony haven’t shown yet, and considering just how much stuff we’ve been shown already, that’s pretty big news. It’s looking like the game will still have a lot of surprises to throw at us when it launches. It’s also been described as “huge”.

Spider-Man launches exclusively for the PS4 on September 7.

Is it time for Darkstalkers: Resurrection: Resurrection?

Capcom has a wealth of great and beloved IP that they are kind of just sitting on and doing nothing with. Realistically, if one were to be honest, one would realize that Capcom’s wealth of franchises and properties is almost unmatched in the gaming industry, second only to Nintendo’s- that’s the vaunted company the publisher finds itself in.

One of these IPs is Darkstalkers, a cult hit fan favorite 2D fighting game series that has lain dormant for many years. A segment of highly vocal fans has called for the series to be revived in recent years, and Capcom executives themselves have mentioned it and brought it up a number of times. The most recent of which was at San Diego Comic Con 2018, where, Yoshinori Ono, the man behind Street Fighter 4 and 5, dropped a hint at what his next game after SF5 might be, outright namedropping Darkstalkers.

Ono is known for trolling his fans, so it’s important to not take this as confirmation of any sort- at least, not until Capcom officially and formally announces the game, at any rate.

So, Ono seemed to hint at his ‘next game’ at the SF panel before he left. Even name dropped Darkstalkers and referenced the announcement 6 years ago. Felt very unscripted.

Nintendo has embraced demos whole heartedly of late, launching especially timed multiplayer betas for upcoming big games, from Splatoon and ARMS and Mario Tennis Aces. With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being arguably the company’s biggest Switch release yet, at least from the multiplayer perspective (it will definitely be the game people will turn to to assess their feelings on Nintendo’s upcoming online service, for example) does the company plan on running any beta tests, or maybe putting out a demo, for it ahead of its release?

Speaking to IGN at San Diego Comic Con 2018, Nintendo’s Bill Trinen discussed the possibility of a demo or a beta for the game, saying it would have to be something that was considered closer to the game’s launch. “Very good question. Right now they’re focused very much on getting the game ready. We have a few other things to talk about down the road between now and when it launches in December. We’ll hopefully have some news on that as we get closer to launch,” he said.

Which sounds to me like it might be something they are considering- it’s important to note he doesn’t outright say no, and even explicitly hints that there may be an announcement pertaining to this closer to the game’s launch. So that is something to look forward to, for sure.

Trinen also discussed the possibility of DLC for the game, noting that it is something that Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Smash Bros., and the director of Ultimate, will consider once the game is out. Sakurai, he pointed out, has a perfectionist attitude towards his games, and for now is focusing on getting Ultimate out as a feature and content complete product- any DLC considerations will come afterwards.

“Obviously [DLC] was a big part of the Wii U game, but part of Mr. Sakurai’s approach is really focusing on getting the game done, and then once he has the game done, he’ll start to make some decisions about what he want to do… with other characters or DLC, things like that,” Trinin said. “Whether or not he decides to do DLC again, or whether or not he decides this is the ultimate edition and there’s nothing more I can fit in there. We’ll have to see as we get closer to launch.”

So that’s that- I personally hope there is DLC (though realistically, what would you even do with DLC at this point? Maybe add Rex and Pyra? An ARMS character? A rep from Pokemon 8 or the new Fire Emblem game?). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on December 7.

Featuring a gorgeous red console and an even sexier controller.

It looks like Sony is going all in on backing the upcoming Spider-Man game. They’re giving it the full red carpet treatment, including putting out not one, but two special edition consoles to celebrate its release (and perhaps to induce Spider-Man fans into buying one or both of them).

So, a Special Edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro console will be available, in a rich red shade, with Spidey’s iconic symbol splashed across the top. It’ll come with 1TB of storage space, and a copy of the game- for $399, which means you get a game and the console for the same price that you ordinarily get just the console for. This console will be available in North America and Europe.

Europe gets a second console too- a PS4 Slim that’s similarly red and splashed with the hero’s eight legged logo. If that’s not enough options for European players, they also get a bundle that includes a standard black 1 TB console and the game, a similar standard black PS4 Pro bundle with a copy of the game, another one with a 1 TB PS4 Slim and two controllers (only for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy), and finally, a variant with a 500 GB Jet Black PS4 (only for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and UK), and a copy of the game.

It’s almost easier for North American players, isn’t it? Check out images and videos showcasing the special edition consoles below.

And it confirms that a very special character will in fact be in the game...

First off- if you don’t want to know anything about the story in the upcoming Spider-Man game, consider this your spoiler warning, and hit the back button on your browser now (though if you don’t want to know anything about the game’s story, why you would even click on a news article about a story trailer for it is beyond me).

For the rest of you, here’s the deal- a brand new trailer for Spider-Man was released at San Diego Comic Con today, and it showed off a lot of the game’s story, confirming (or re-confirming), that Electro, Rhino, Vulture, and Mr. Negative will all be in the game- as will be Norman Osborne!

Another fan-favorite character who was confirmed by this trailer was Silver Sable, the mercenary who goes head to head against Spidey almost as often as she fights by his side. Miles Morales and MJ Watson also have a much more prominent presence in the trailer. It seems like Spidey’s whole gallery of friends and foes is here.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below. Quite recently, we reported on the possibility of yet another villain – Tombstone – appearing in the game. Read more on that here. Spider-Man launches on the PS4 this September.

Prior to San Diego Comic-Con, Treyarch dropped a trailer for the new Chaos storyline in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode. The story encompasses Voyage of Despair and IX as four motley adventurers come across a relic with mysterious power. Subsequently they end up traveling back in time to ancient Rome and encountering zombie tigers.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. During the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies panel at SDCC, Treyarch released a trailer for the third map, called Blood of the Dead. It showcases the opening cinematic and sees our heroes Richtofen, Takeo, Dempsey and Nikolai heading into Alcatraz. This map is actually a remake of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s Mob of the Dead. What is Primis doing here? We’ll have to wait till Black Ops 4 is out to find out.

A fourth Zombies map will be available to those who purchase any of the special editions or the Black Ops Pass. “Classified” sees the original version of Primis aka Ultimis entering a remake of the Black Ops map “Five”. That’s a whole lot of Zombies action.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out on October 12th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Tough decisions, trust issues, and the undead continue to stalk Clementine in this new teaser.

Telltale Game’s The Walking Dead series has had a long run, spanning three full-length seasons and a mini-series. All good things must come to an end, though, and The Walking Dead: The Final Season promises as much. A new teaser trailer has been released and it showcases Clementine with AJ as they seemingly join a community with other kids. All isn’t well though and it’s up to Clem to determine how she protects those around her.

Much like previous games, players will make choices, and based on their actions, different consequences will be had. It’s even possible to influence the ending, for better or worse. If the teaser is any indication, then Clementine may ultimately be on her way out like Season One’s Lee Everett.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season will debut its first episode on August 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is out later this year. Expect more information about the game at San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from July 19th to July 22nd. What are your thoughts on the teaser? Let us know in the comments below.
