Here are some of the features of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Game Update 7.1:

• New daily mission arcs for Republic and Imperial players on the planet Manaan.
• A challenging new Operation for 8-player teams
• Improvements to the Weapons in Outfitter system
• Key revelations about Darth Malgus and the Sith lord whose relics he has been pursuing.

Alongside details about the update, BioWare has also announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic‘s creative director, Charles Boyd, will be leaving the team after having worked with BioWare for 16 and being a key figure in The Old Republic‘s success.

The update is part a part of the Legacy of the Sith expansion, which was released back in February. Originally set for release in Holiday 2021, BioWare had to delay Legacy of the Sith to February 2022. Legacy of the Sith is the seventh expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Originally slater for Holiday 2021, BioWare has announced in a message written by project director Keith Kanneg that Legacy of the Sith has now been delayed to February 2022 (because that month wasn’t looking busy enough as it is). Kanneg explained that the development team will be utilizing the extra development time for “additional testing.”

“Legacy of the Sith is something the team has been hard at work on for quite a while but as we get ever closer to launch, it is clear that we need a bit more time,” Kanneg wrote. “We’re focusing additional testing on the many areas we have changed throughout the game to deliver the experience we want, and one that you deserve.”

Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed that barring story content with spoilers, “the majority of the expansion and its features” will be returning to public test servers this week, with the developer hoping to gain more insight on what’s needed to shape the expansion based on feedback from players.

Star Wars: The Old Republic – Legacy of the Sith will launch on February 15, 2022.

There will be several new locations, including the underwater facilities on the planet of Manaan with separate Imperial and Republic storylines, and a mysterious Sith record that was erased from all records on the planet of Elom, which will be playable solo as well as as a multiplayer Flashpoint. Meanwhile, completing the Manaan questline will also unlock a new daily area and a new base of operations for your faction.

Major gameplay additions are also inbound, such as Combat Styles, which will separate your Class from your gameplay style, thus allowing you to choose any Advanced Class within the Tech or Force playstyle. And yes, you can also secretly use Dark Side powers while posing as a member of the Jedi Order. The level cap is also being increased to 80.

There’s also a new R-4 Anomaly Operation, which players will “take down a galactic threat in deep space”, and a new Galactic Season that will entail new rewards, quality of life improvements, and more. Beyond Legacy of the Sith’s launch, BioWare is also has several other things planned, such as a new Flashpoint, a PvP system revamp, new locations, visual improvements, more story updates, UI improvements, and much more.

Legacy of the Sith launches in Holiday 2021 and will be available for all current subscribers of the game for no additional cost. It will also be hitting the public test server soon, so be on the lookout for that. You can get more details in the expansion’s announcement livestream below.
