The update has no planned date as of now.

One game that really seemed to grab the attention of the masses was Cuphead. The game is a 2D sidescroller game known for being incredibly difficult, as well as inspired by classic cartoons of the 1930s and onward. As something of a surprise announcement that the game would be coming to the PS4 earlier today. But PlayStation fans weren’t the only ones with something coming down the pipes, as Xbox fans who’ve had the game for quite a while are getting rewarded too.

In the same update that announced the PS4 version, the studio also mentioned that a free, special update will also come to Xbox fans. It will include digital art gallaries, behind-the-scenes commentaries and a playable soundtrack. It only mentions this as coming to Xbox, so it’s unclear if it will also come to PC as well. You can read the full post through here.

“So, to celebrate the wonderful players who believed in us from the very beginning, we’re also making another announcement: we will be bringing a free Special Update to Cuphead fans on Xbox, which will add a digital art gallery, behind-the-scenes commentary features, and playable soundtrack to the game. This update is still in the early planning stages, and we’ll be taking the time to get things just right, but we will be sure to share more when we have something for you that meets the level of care and quality we always strive for.”

The game originally released in 2017 for Xbox One and PC and then made its way to the Switch and PS4. Like the game’s upcoming DLC, The Delicious Last Course, this update has no time frame and will be also be ready for whenever it’s ready.

The Delicious Last Course DLC will arrive on all platforms "when it's ready."

In a recent update with Geoff Keighley as part of the Summer Game Fest, StudioMDHR confirmed that Cuphead was indeed coming to PS4. In fact, it’s out today, which shouldn’t be surprising considering the listing leaked on the PlayStation Store UK earlier. Check out the announcement trailer below courtesy of Stop Motion Department.

First released for Xbox One and PC, Cuphead is a run and gun platformer that takes its style from 1930s cartoons. The story sees Cuphead and Mugman losing a bet with the Devil and embarking on a quest to collect Soul Contracts. This involves taking on a variety of elaborate bosses with stellar animations and extensive patterns.

Arriving later for the Nintendo Switch, Cuphead has gone on to sell five million copies. As per StudioMDHR, Sony has been very supportive of the studio for the PS4 release. Regarding The Delicious Last Course DLC, it’s still in the works and will be out “when it’s ready.” The good news is that it will be available for all platforms at launch.

The run and gun platformer could finally be coming to PS4.

After its phenomenal success on Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, StudioMDHR’s Cuphead could be coming to PS4. This is according to a new listing on the UK PlayStation Store, as spotted by ResetEra user Alchemist. Navigating to the listing simply leads to a page with “This content cannot be selected at this time.”

Still, it’s highly possible that the PS4 version is announced today, especially as Geoff Keighley promised a “special update” from “one of our favorite indie game studios” as part of Summer Game Fest 2020. The announcement is set to go live today at 8 AM PT and the stream is currently up on YouTube. Suffice to say that this is quite the leak.

More details have been expected from Cuphead for some time, especially as it pertains to The Delicious Last Course DLC. The last major update on the DLC was that it had been delayed to this year. Along with new areas and bosses, the new content will feature Ms. Chalice as a playable character. Will we see the DLC arrive for the PS4 version as well? Time will tell so stay tuned for more updates.

Cuphead is a tough game, but its bosses are even tougher. Here are all Cuphead bosses ranked from easiest to the hardest.

Cuphead is a very challenging game, but the hardest part of the title is the boss fights. Here are all 20 of Cuphead’s boss fights ordered from easiest to hardest.

The Root Pack

They may look menacing but they are the biggest pushovers in the entire game. Even though there are three of them, each of them only has one attack, and it’s incredibly easy to avoid. It’s just a matter of making sure that you take them out quickly and don’t waste any time, because there are bigger fish to fry.

StudioMDHR is "humbled and excited" by the number of people playing the game.

There was some concern about whom StudioMDHR’s Cuphead would appeal to given how opposed the amazing visual style was to the challenging gameplay. As it turns out, quite a few people. We’ve already seen updates on Steam Spy about the number of PC players but the developer recently confirmed that Cuphead has sold over 1 million units since launch.

In a recent update, Studio MDHR’s Chad and Jared Moldenhauer stated that, “Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support and we’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold!

“We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead – it truly makes it all worth it. From all of us at StudioMDHR, thanks again for your support!”

Cuphead is a run and gun platformer with a huge emphasis on boss battles that’s been showcased for years before finally releasing for Xbox One and PC. It’s most attractive feature was the Rubber hose animation style that takes inspiration from 1930s cartoons complete with a swinging jazz soundtrack.

Despite concerns about the difficulty, critics have rated Cuphead very highly especially with regards to how the graphics add to the overall gameplay. You can check out official review of the game here to learn more.
