Tribes of Midgard is kicking off its third season, which revolves around Surtr. The game is now also out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Survival action game Tribes of Midgard is kicking off its third season, titled Inferno Saga, today. The new season is available as a free update on PC, PS4, and PS5. The season also marks the release of Tribes of Midgard on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The Inferno Saga storyline kicks off with Herald of Ragnarok Surtr starting his invasion of Midgard in an effort to burn all creation to the ground. The player and their fellow Einherjar have to try and stop Surtr’s conquest.

Season 3 brings a fair bit of new content to Tribes of Midgard, including new enemies, new weapons, runes, and a complete revamp for the survival mode.

Dubbed Survival Mode 2.0, the revamp is set in a world before the Village around the Seed of Yggdrasil existed. Players will be aided by Viking warrior Eira Foot-Crushed, since villagers aren’t available. The new survival mode has a new 90 Blessings skill tree to progress through as well.

Season 3 also brings Construction 2.0, which essentially scales everything in the construction inventory down to a 1x1x1 grid, allowing for a more detailed building experience. There are also new construction pieces, such as walls, pillars, roofs, and doors.

Season 3: Inferno Saga, the "biggest update to date," launches on the same day and adds a new Saga Quest, Survival 2.0, and more.

After being rated for Xbox and Nintendo Switch back in April, Norsfell’s Tribes of Midgard will launch on August 16th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. This coincides with the launch of Season 3: Inferno Saga, the “biggest update to date.”

In a press release, Norsfell co-founder and creative director Julian Maroda said, “Since day one, our team has been fully committed to delivering expanded features and new content to our players, building our Tribe (of Midgard!) that’s now over two million strong and growing!

“Releasing on Xbox and Switch is our latest effort to continue to build Tribes of Midgard alongside our thriving community while simultaneously welcoming newcomers. Season 3 is massive and by far our biggest update to date, delivering game-changing content like our latest Saga (and biggest bad guy) alongside a complete revamp of Survival Mode. This ‘Survival 2.0’ couldn’t come at a better time, it’s the perfect starting point for new players on Xbox and Nintendo Switch!”

The new Saga Quest “Inferno” sees players raiding Outposts and gathering Muspelite to venture to the new Volcanic Spire region. You’ll take down various fire-based enemies en route to the largest Saga Boss yet. Along with new creatures, the region also offers new crafting materials along with sights like rivers of lava (which will burn you to crisp so be careful).

A new mode, Survival 2.0, is also being added. It sees the Einherjar surviving in the wilderness with Eira Foot-Crushed as their guide and felines Mániklo and Sóleyra. You’ll venture across Midgard, fighting enemies and exploring freely without worrying about Jotnar attacks or fortifying the village. This also introduces Crafting 2.0 where players use the Allforge to create Crafting Stations anywhere and repair equipment.

Other new additions include Spears and fishing, the latter offering a variety of fish to catch. The Standard Edition of the game will retail for $19.99 while the Deluxe Edition costs $29.99 on the Microsoft Store and Nintendo eShop. Stay tuned for more details and check out our review of the game here.

The next slate of free titles coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers has been leaked. According to prominent leaker billbil-kun on Dealabs, EA Sports’ FIFA 22, Passtech Games’ Curse of the Dead Gods and Norsfell’s Tribes of Midgard will be available on PlayStation Plus in May.

FIFA 22 and Tribes of Midgard will be available for both PS4 and PS5 players. Curse of the Dead Gods is on PS4 but PS5 players can play it via backwards compatibility. FIFA 22 is the latest in Electronic Sports’ yearly football franchise (which could be renamed EA Sports FC next year). Tribes of Midgard is an action RPG survival title that sees players exploring the world of Norse mythology and protecting the seed of Yggdrasil from forces of Helheim and the Jotunn.

Curse of the Dead Gods is an isometric rogue-lite taking place in a randomly generated temple full of traps, enemies and treasure. As players progress, they’ll accumulate different Curses which can be dangerous (but also provide some benefits). There’s a hefty amount of content and weapon variety to be had overall.

Sony hasn’t officially announced the PlayStation Plus titles coming in May so stay tuned for confirmation in the coming days

Norsfell Games' survival action RPG launched for PlayStation and PC last year, and might soon be headed to additional platforms.

Norsfell Games’ survival action RPG Tribes of Midgard launched for PlayStation consoles and PC in July last year, transporting players to its Norse mythology-inspired world that generally received its fair share of praise. Soon, the game might be ready to welcome even more players into the fold.

It seems Tribes of Midgard has been rated by the ESRB for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Switch and Xbox games of the survival title haven’t been officially announced by the developer or by Gearbox Publishing, though with this classification rating going live, there’s a good chance that that ends up changing soon.

In our review of Tribes of Midgard, we awarded the game a score of 7/10, saying, “Tribes of Midgard is a great concept, but half-baked mechanics and design decisions prevent it from reaching the triumphs it could.” You can read our full review through here.

Tribes of Midgard is currently available on PS5, PS4, and PC.

Tribes of Midgard is a great concept, but falls flat in a number of ways that prohibit it from soaring the heights it could achieve.

Developer Norsefell’s debut title, Tribes of Midgard is finally out after a fair bit of anticipation for the game. Set against a Norse backdrop, Tribes of Midgard is a co-op survival game with rogue-lite elements. It’s a steaming pot of ideas that aim to put co-op front and center within the survival and roguelike genre but are hampered down by a number of annoying design decisions and half-baked mechanics that don’t quite hit the mark in this regard.

Tribes of Midgard sees players control a custom character Viking, sent down from Valhalla to defend a village from the attack of Jotunns i.e. the giants from destroying the tree of life in order to prevent Ragnarok, which is the end of the world according to Norse mythology. The story isn’t exactly a focal point of the experience, but it’s quite disappointing that the developer didn’t try to include much in the name of lore – which is all the more egregious given that the Norse mythology setting is ripe with stories that are worth telling.

"The story isn’t exactly a focal point of the experience, but it’s quite disappointing that the developer didn’t try to include much in the name of lore"

To be fair, it’s not completely devoid of any story. As soon as you boot the game for the first time, the game explains the previously mentioned story set up in a few slides. Item descriptions do shower snippets of information about the game’s story, but that doesn’t satiate the desires or potential within the setting that could have been utilized in a far better manner.

Instead, Tribes of Midgard puts the focus on its gameplay, which sadly enough follows the same theme of great concept, less-than-stellar execution. Before jumping into the real game, players need to get through the tutorial, which fails on a very basic level. Apart from very basic crafting, exploration, and combat – the tutorial tells little to nothing about its more intricate systems such as building structures, biomes, upgrading gear, and a bunch of other things.

There are 2 different modes available for players to choose from at launch – which includes Saga, a 100-day survival mode that tasks players with completing a bunch of objectives before the timer runs out. The other is Survival, which is an endless game mode that well, tasks you with surviving for as long as possible. Both games can be played either in co-op or solo, although the majority of my time with the game was spent with the former.

"Apart from very basic crafting, exploration, and combat – the tutorial tells little to nothing about its more intricate systems such as building structures, biomes, upgrading gear, and a bunch of other things."

Credit where credit is due, Tribes of Midgard does a great job with its co-op mechanics on a purely technical level. The matchmaking is near-instantaneous, and I encountered no lag or server issues of any kind. A point worth mentioning is that co-op is drop-in and drop-out, and the difficulty scales with the number of players. An interesting trick up Tribes of Midgard‘s sleeve is its implementation of XP within survival mode, which operates on a multiplier that changes depending on difficulty selected, size of the map, and a number of other variables.

As you drop into the Saga mode, you are tasked with collecting a few resources to help prepare yourself for the night. You will need to collect a few flint and branches to craft some basic tools, that will help you in harvesting more resources in a far efficient manner. Each resource you collect also nets you some Souls, which is a precious currency that will be required for all manner of upgrades, repairs, and even healing the Tree of Yggdrasil. After a few minutes, night falls – and soon a number of hideous beasts will attack your village and players must co-operate to fend off waves of these beasts from the village until sunrise.

The combat in Tribes of Midgard isn’t anything exceptional and promotes spamming the primary attack until a meter charges then activate the secondary attack. There are a few enemies that require some thoughtful strategy to defeat but are few and far between to shake up the core tactics in any meaningful way. There are a number of weapons that also don’t feel much different from each other in use, with the exception of the bow, of course. If you die at any point, you are robbed of your Souls and materials and have to make it back to the point of death to retrieve lost contents, which is a familiar take on player mortality lifted straight out of Dark Souls.

"There are a few enemies that require some thoughtful strategy to defeat but are few and far between to shake up the core tactics in any meaningful way. "

Defeating giants is also an integral part of the Tribes of Midgard experience, who will set foot in the region every handful of days with increasing difficulty, of course. In a co-op game, a player has almost no chance of defeating a giant single-handedly. Everyone must co-operate to take out the hulking behemoth, which does provide with some great feelings of satisfaction when everybody comes together to down these Jotunns. Since the map is procedurally generated, it’s entirely possible that fate deals you a rough hand – surrounding the giant with terrain that is tough to navigate or outright tough to survive due to unsuitable temperatures.

However, any satisfaction that comes with pushing against all odds in Tribes of Midgard relies upon cooperation, which can be hit or miss depending on the people you play the game with. Tribes of Midgard wants to promote cooperation but misses the mark due to conflicting mechanics and reward systems. Upgrading the village and repairing buildings do provide common benefits to all, which promotes co-operation on that front. However, the same resources – most importantly Souls are also required for things like repairing equipment which promotes and incentivizes hoarding them for personal use.

This sentiment also translates very well to gear, as higher-level gear requires exotic resources that are well, rare and incentivize hoarding them for personal use instead of sharing them with others via a common chest. Furthermore, exotic gear is absolutely required for survival in the later parts of the Saga campaign which does legitimize this behavior to an extent.

"Tribes of Midgard wants to promote cooperation but misses the mark due to conflicting mechanics and reward systems."

A Saga campaign lasts for at least about 2-3 hours, which is quite a bit longer than what most players would be willing to spend in a sitting. As you reach this period, players need to divide their tasks and manage a number of things to make it to the final lair, which becomes all the more difficult when players start to leave the server at that period of time. There are a number of classes that players can choose from during a run, and each has a skill tree that players can work towards during the course of the playthrough. Once the run is over, everything resets and you get to do it all over again.

That’s not to say there’s isn’t any permanent progression though, as Tribes of Midgard has a battle pass that unlocks a number of goodies that can make subsequent runs easier. For example, there are starter kits – which spawns you with a pre-determined loadout. There is also a number of recipes, runes, and classes to unlock which are hidden behind challenges, achievements, and the like which act as a great motivator to jump back in after completing a Saga.

"Tribes of Midgard has a battle pass that unlocks a number of goodies that can make subsequent runs easier. "

Classes, in my opinion, require some rebalance, as some provide noticeably better benefits than others. For example, the Warden allows you to nullify equipment damage – which is a much better option than marginally better stats- as given by other classes that I tried. While unlocking better classes is understandably enough, an integral part of progression – it discourages experimentation due to these disparities, which will probably grow out to be more aggravating as players spend more time with the game.

From my experience, co-op with friends is far superior to jumping in solo for the Saga mode. You do get a lot more resources which makes crafting high-level gear easier, but defeating Jotunns can be extremely boring. As you progress further, a number of threats start to make life difficult and an equally large number of exotic resources need to be collected – which calls for buddies to help out.

Tribes of Midgard‘s art style looks great and is quite clean without being bland. Spotting enemies is pretty easy, and telegraphs for attacks are also easily recognizable, giving plenty of time to roll out of harm’s way. The music feels quite repetitive but isn’t so boring to be overtly obnoxious. It’s also not very demanding in terms of system requirements, and even rigs with lower-end GPUs have a decent shot at running the game.

Tribes of Midgard is a solid foundation for an accessible survival game with roguelite elements, but needs a number of both major and minor reworks to its elements for achieving that goal. As it stands now, it’s not impossible to have fun with the game, but requires putting up with quite a few annoying decisions and mechanics that reduce the game to a pure grind. Tribes of Midgard can definitely evolve with a couple of seasonal updates but isn’t anything exceptional at this point.

Some Steam players faced issues logging in. However, the developer upgraded its servers and "Things are looking stable."

Norsfell Games’ Tribes of Midgard released yesterday for PS4, PS5 and PC, bringing its unique brand of overhead action RPG survival gameplay to the world. However, it didn’t have the smoothest roll-out – users on Steam reported facing server issues after the game went live. Fortunately, the developer acted quickly and managed to resolve the same by upgrading its servers.

“Things are looking stable and there should be no more issues!” it noted in a Steam post. Based on Viking mythology, Tribes of Midgard sees players controlling an Einherjar as they nurture a seed of Yggdrasil. Their job is to protect it, building a settlement with fortifications and repelling the forces of Hel. Venture out during the day-time to find weapons and Artifacts that will provide a boost to one’s class.

However, when night draws near, you’ll need to take on various enemies (including towering Giants) to protect the seed. With support for up to 10 players and seasonal content updates (with the first season, The Wolf Saga, already being live), Tribes of Midgard presents an intriguing mix of survival and co-op hack and slash gameplay. Stay tuned for more details on updates and future content in the coming days.

Julian Maroda, CEO of Norsfell and creative director of Tribes of Midgard, speaks with GamingBolt about the upcoming survival RPG.

Norsfell’s upcoming survival RPG Tribes of Midgard has turned a lot of heads in the last few weeks, and one look at the game is enough to see why. Eschewing the elements of survival games that many don’t enjoy, emphasizing the parts that many do, and throwing it all in together in what’s looking like a rich universe based on Norse mythology with several interesting ideas of its own, Tribes of Midgard looks set to deliver a unique blend unlike anything else. We recently reached out to its developers to learn more about the game and what makes it tick, and learned quite a bit in the process. Below, you can read our conversation with Julian Maroda, CEO of Norsfell and creative director of Tribes of Midgard.

"This is a game where survival is dependent on the entire community. In Tribes of Midgard, your team will either thrive as a cohesive unit, or fall together."

You’ve said in the past that Tribes of Midgard is attempting to create a completely new genre. Can you elaborate on that a little bit, and how the game attempts to do that?

Tribes of Midgard blends together all of our favorite things across the survival, co-op, and action RPG genres – we affectionately call this new genre “surthrival.” This is a game where survival is dependent on the entire community. In Tribes of Midgard, your team will either thrive as a cohesive unit, or fall together.

This has a number of cascading effects. First, your survival plays out differently than you might expect. Because you’re playing as an Einherjar, a glorious Viking hero brought back from Valhalla, you’re a bit of a big deal. This means that “normal” concerns are beneath you: you won’t starve to death, die of thirst, etc, and you are strong enough to chop down trees in a single swing of your axe. Second, you can die in combat and be revived endlessly. Your gear will even stay with you after death. Instead of focusing on the survival of the individual, you’ll live and die as a team – and if the Seed of Yggdrasil at the center of your village dies, it’s game over.

This makes survival a “team-sport,” which should be more appealing and accessible both to players new to survival or long-time fans of the genre. Of course, you can also play and “surthrive” solo…there may be “no I in team,” but there is in both “survival” and “win!”

Tribes of Midgard has a particularly striking art style. Can you talk about the process of how you settled on this aesthetic for the game? Was it something that came from its setting, or did you decide early on what you wanted it to look like?

Tribes of Midgard’s brightness and vibrant colors are intentional. This is your player’s shot at joining the heroes of legend. The Einherjar have been sent down to Midgard from Valhalla to save the world, and they’re excited about it!

You are living and playing through the Norse myth in Tribes of Midgard, and this mythology is full of magic, adventure, monsters, and wonder. It’s deep, colorful, and fun – and the game needed to reflect that. The mix of bright colors, cell shading, and a cross-hatching effect gives the game an almost comic book-ish feel, as if you were playing through an Edda (Norse Saga) as told around the campfire by the village mystic.

We’ve seen a lot of games take a dark and gritty approach to Vikings and Norse mythology, and while that works really well for so many other games, it’s not the tone we want. Our characters are excited to stave off Ragnarök. They are Vikings. They love to fight. Tribes of Midgard’s art style reflects that battle-joy, and the Einherjar’s desire to join the ranks of Legendary Heroes.

"Tribes of Midgard’s brightness and vibrant colors are intentional. This is your player’s shot at joining the heroes of legend. The Einherjar have been sent down to Midgard from Valhalla to save the world, and they’re excited about it!"

What can you tell us about the building mechanics, and how robust players can expect them to be?

We wanted the building mechanic to expand gameplay and be a strategic tool in the Einherjar’s toolset. In Tribes of Midgard, building adds a new way to explore, defend and thrive. You’ll create ramps to access new ground, equip your village with fortified gates and archer towers, or restore ruins of buildings that boost resource generation. Each has its own time and place in the ebb and flow of the game, and each costs resources. Players will want to consider their resources before undertaking a building project – could that stack of wood be used to create new items, or is it needed to fortify the gates before a nightly Helthing incursion?

All that said, we’re just scratching the surface of what building will do in our game. We have plans to support Tribes of Midgard for months and years beyond launch, and are already working to expand on this system in alignment with our community. We’ll be keeping a close eye on player feedback and make sure that we’re giving this community the ultimate Viking sandbox experience.

For those who prefer to play games solo, does Tribes of Midgard offer a single player experience that’s on par with co-op, or is it designed primarily around co-op gameplay?

While Tribes of Midgard is best with friends, you can absolutely play solo. To make sure the game is always fun for any group size, Saga Mode has two options that are adjusted for different playstyles: Solo and Matchmaking. In Solo, you get to save Midgard on your own in a smaller map suited to individual play. In Matchmaking, you can start in a Group with your friends or matchmake with the community to start a new tribe with others! Either way, difficulty automatically scales based on party size, with the game raising or lowering the difficulty as players join and depart the session.

For example, if you start with only two others, the game will adjust enemy difficulty, resources and other features to make sure your party of three has an awesome experience. If some friends join, the game will change – updating numerous parameters to make an ideal experience for any size group. One that won’t change is map size: you’ll all get to play on a larger map, but entire regions won’t raise and lower out of the sea because someone joined or left your game.

In Survival Mode, you set the difficulty by choosing parameters at the start of your game. The more challenging you make your game, the more meta XP you can earn! Your friends can join based on how many players are already in your party, but if you want to keep your Midgardian adventure to just your close circle of Viking warriors, you can password protect your play session.

"While Tribes of Midgard is best with friends, you can absolutely play solo."

Unlike most survival games out there, Tribes of Midgard is pulling back on managing meters, which is a mechanic that is, of course, crucial to the survival genre, but is also something that can get a little tedious at times. How does the game strike the balance between keeping it streamlined but ensuring that it isn’t too simplified?

Survival games have specific, prominent features that mark the genre. While Tribes of Midgard includes a lot of survival aspects, we removed meters like hunger and thirst to streamline the game. As human beings, we all understand the necessities of things like food and drink for survival. But you’re not playing as a normal human, you’re a hero from Valhalla! Hunger and thirst are beneath you. Your concern is to quite literally stave off the end of the World; that means you can’t stop and grab a bite to eat!

That doesn’t mean the game is simple – quite the opposite, actually. The diversity of threats looming over your tribe add a number of different “meters” you need to track. Is it almost night? Better get back to the village, because Helthings are coming. Has a Jötunn appeared? It’s time to scout it out, prepare your arsenal and coordinate a few raids to chip down its enormous health pool. Uh-oh, that Jötunn is weak to lightning, better go find some resources to make a Lightning Axe!

The world around you also adds another layer that we think players will enjoy. We added frigid glaciers and scorching deserts to Midgard to create a different kind of threat, because even if your Einherjar can’t starve to death, that doesn’t mean they can’t freeze or broil. You can monitor your temperature and equip the right gear to stay cool and collected. As you explore the map, you may encounter threats beyond your skill level. To know if you are strong enough and have the right equipment to face these beasts, keep track of the power rankings and how they change from place to place.

TLDR: Tribes of Midgard is the kind of game that’s easy to get into, but easier to stick around in – there is just so much you can do!

What are your plans for the game in terms of post-launch support?

We will keep the game fresh with seasonal updates that we call Sagas, and we’ve got an early look at our content roadmap to share with you. Best of all, all these Sagas will be free to anyone who’s bought the game and they only build upon each other. For example, when a new Saga comes out, you can still play through the past Saga and even potentially knock out both Saga Quests in the same session.

From highly anticipated sequels to indie titles that have been a long time coming, take a look at ten of the biggest releases in July.

As we inch ever closer to the packed Fall season, there are a number of high-profile releases to look forward to in July. So if you’re suffering from E3 withdrawal, these ten games may be worth checking out. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline

Bloodline is more than just two new hero characters that can join DedSec. It’s also the return of two fan favourites, Aiden Pearce from Watch Dogs and Wrench from Watch Dogs 2, in a new story for the franchise. Set before the events of Legion, Bloodline sees Pearce taking on a “simple job” in London to steal a robot-controlling device from Broca Tech. Unfortunately, Wrench steals it first, triggering a cat and mouse game between the two with the life of Aiden’s nephew hanging in the balance.

Both characters are playable and offer their own unique abilities, whether it’s Aiden’s System Crash to disable surrounding electronics or Wrench’s custom drone. Once the story is complete, they can also join DedSec and become playable throughout the main campaign. Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline is out on July 6th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Stadia.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Unlike its action RPG brethren, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is about fighting alongside Monsters or Monsties, if you will, in turn-based battles. The story focuses on Razewing Ratha, a flightless young Rathalos with black wings that will apparently bring ruin to the world. As the descendant of Red, the rider from the first game, you ultimately embark on an adventure with Ratha, battling Hunters and other Monsters alike. This includes heavyweights like Diablos, Anjanath and even Nergigante. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a more story-focused affair but it certainly stands out due to its strong production values. It’s out on July 9th for Nintendo Switch and PC with a demo currently available on the Nintendo eShop.

F1 2021

Codemasters’ first Formula One racing title published under Electronic Arts is nearly upon us. F1 2021 takes everything that worked last year and adds a bunch of new content on top. There’s the new story mode, Braking Point, which focuses on Aiden Jackson and his rise to Formula One throughout three seasons. Along with new tracks and drivers, including Mick Schumacher and Yuki Tsunoda, the R&D tree has been revamped to be more straightforward. New settings allow for a more casual experience or tweaking everything, from the AI’s research speed in Career and My Team to car faults during races, for a deeper challenge. Out on July 16th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC, F1 2021 looks to build strongly on the Codemasters’ pedigree.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

The Nintendo Wii classic returns to the celebration of some fans and the chagrin of others. As the name indicates, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD improves on the original with high resolution visuals while also running at 60 FPS. Numerous “quality of life enhancements” like tutorial refinements have also been added along with options for both motion controls via the Joy-Cons and using the right stick for swordplay (which makes things easier for handheld users). While not quite the remaster many had anticipated, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is still pretty good and should be well worth experiencing on the Switch when the remaster releases on July 16th.

Tribes of Midgard

While Valheim continues its development in early access, action RPG fans may want to check out Tribes of Midgard. Developed by Norsfell and releasing on July 27th for PS4, PS5 and PC, it sees the player shielding a seed of Yggdrasil from the forces of Hel and Ragnarok. The player creates a settlement, reinforcing it with walls and setting out during the day to gather resources, Artifacts and weapons. At night, enemies will attack in an effort to destroy Yggdrasil and it’s up to you to stop them. Survive for long enough and the Giants will get involved as well. Tribes of Midgard can be played solo but also supports up to 10 players in co-op.

NEO: The World Ends with You

Eleven years after the original release, The World Ends With You is finally getting a sequel. Despite being fully 3D, NEO: The World Ends With you should be immediately familiar to fans with the return of Pins, the Noise, the Reaper’s Game and yes, the unmistakable incredible tunes. The protagonist this time is Rindo who, along with Fret and Nagi, are part of the Wicked Twisters and fight other groups for survival. Combat is more of a third person hack and slash affair but you’ll still be combining attacks with teammates and taking down Noise with over 300 Pins granting unique abilities. In the midst of exploring the Underground, there are a myriad of characters to interact with, delectable cuisine to eat, clothes to shop for and much more. NEO: The World Ends With You releases on July 27th for PS4 and Nintendo Switch while the PC version is out later this year.

The Ascent

When The Ascent Group collapses in the cyberpunk dystopia of Veles, various gangs and corporations come in to claim their spot. In this top-down action RPG shooter from Neon Giant, players must battle back against the factions, using various weapons, augmentations and gadgets in the process. The Ascent offers a seamless open world to explore, destructible environments (with some very impressive particle effects) and co-op for up to four players, both online and local. Releasing on July 29th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC, it’s also a day one launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Eldest Souls

Fallen Flag Studios’ pixel-art Souls-like Eldest Souls finally has a release date, arriving on July 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Unlike most other Souls-like titles though, this one is all about boss fights, each presenting a tough challenge but granting unique talent and ability unlocks along the way. The aesthetic is decidedly retro but still looks great, especially as you explore the ruins of the world and unearth its various mysteries en route to stopping the Desolation.

Samurai Warriors 5

The Warriors series is one that seemingly will never die. It’s now time for the hack and slash franchise to return once again to feudal Japan with Samurai Warriors 5. Much like its big brother, Dynasty Warriors, borrows from Chinese history it takes from various Japanese historical and mixes them up. Samurai Warriors 5 is out on July 27 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.

Chernobylite

The Farm 51 has been fairly busy over the past few years with Chernobylite, a survival single-player RPG which may remind one of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. Set in Chernobyl’s exclusion zone, the player controls a former physicist who returns to seek out Tatiana, their partner. Of course, it’s not a simple walk in the park and you’ll need various companions and supplies to make your way through while also crafting new equipment and weapons. Throughout the campaign, various decisions have to be made which can determine the fate of your team. Currently available in early access, Chernobylite fully launches on July 28th for PC, Xbox One and PS4 with Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions coming later.
