2K has quietly de-listed older WWE 2K games on PC without any formal announcement, making them unavailable to buy. WWE 2K22 and 2K Battlegrounds are the only WWE games still available on Steam.

WWE games available on Steam have been de-listed by publisher 2K, along with all DLC for these games, as caught by PCGamer. While not available to buy anymore, WWE 2K17, 2K18, 2K19, and 2K20 can still be downloaded and played by those who already own the games. 2K made no official announcement about removing these games from Steam.

With the removal of the older WWE 2K games, the only WWE games available on Steam right now is this year’s release, WWE 2K22, along with WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

The removal of these games is likely related to 2K’s licensing agreements with WWE. With the professional wrestling company going through massive roster overhauls on an almost-yearly basis, it is likely that several of the de-listed games’ roster members are no longer covered under the licensing agreements between 2K and WWE.

WWE 2K22 has been the most well-liked game in the franchise for a while now, and for more details, you can check out our review where we gave the game a score of 8 out of 10. The game is currently going through its post-release cycle with regular DLC releases and game updates.

It seems like they were happy with how LA Noire and NBA 2K18 did on Switch.

Nintendo has managed to get some surprising third parties on board with the Switch, but the most surprising of these are probably The Elder Scrolls publishers Bethesda, and GTA parent company Take Two. Take Two has actually been a surprising proponent of the platform, putting out NBA 2K18 and WWE 2K18 on it last year, and also putting out LA Noire, plus NBA 2K19 being announced for it too (and Carnival Games…).

But it is entirely possible that future support for the Switch might not be as rosy, depending on how those games did. Nintendo fans are all too familiar, after all, with third parties bailing on their platform after citing less than satisfactory sales, right?

However, they don’t need to worry about that. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnick said, “What we’ve put out so far [on the Switch] has been successful”, also explicitly promising that more games from the publishing giant are coming to Nintendo’s hybrid.

You know what would be great, Take Two? No, I’m not going to ask for GTA 5 like everyone else does, I don’t actually care as much for that. But put out XCOM on Switch. Or Civilization. One or the other. Or both. I’d really like that. They’re already on iPad, so it can’t be that hard.

2K Games has announced that the Enduring Icons pack for WWE 2K18 is now available to download. This marks the release of the final bit of post launch DLC that will be available for the game, and it is a fitting note to end things on, since it will have some of the best wrestling talent of all time featured in it.

That includes WWE Superstars Jeff and Matt Hardy, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, and WWE Hall of Famers Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson (The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express). While this pack is included as part of the game’s Season Pass, you can also get it for $7.99 individually. It is out right now only for PS4, Xbox One, and PC- it will come to the Nintendo Switch at a later date.

You can check out a trailer for the pack below. WWE 2K18 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

These games had so much promise but ultimately failed to deliver.

Games create expectations, whether it’s due to the massive marketing campaigns behind them or rabid fan bases. While some games can be given the benefit of the doubt upon falling short, others simply overwhelmed us with their final deliveries. How does one fail to realize a vision that should have been a slam dunk hit? Let’s take a look at the nominees for Most Disappointing Game of 2017.

Lawbreakers

In a way, you have to feel bad for Lawbreakers. This was Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski’s return to the games industry after a long sabbatical. It was supposed to be the perfect union of hero shooter and arena shooter. Sadly, Lawbreakers was handicapped out of the gate with a market dominated by Overwatch. The actual game had a paucity of content with poor matchmaking and weird balance issues. Of course, the high skill ceiling, lack of personality to its heroes and outright lameness didn’t help either.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

On the surface, it seemed like Electronic Arts had learned its lesson with the first Star Wars Battlefront. People don’t like expansion passes? They’re gone! People want a campaign? They get it and you get to play as the Empire! More maps, proper class loadouts, space battles – it almost seemed like a dream come true. Of course, in true EA fashion, it turned into a nightmare. The campaign was barely worth experiencing. The game’s loot boxes completely ruined progression, leaving the min-maxing of loadouts to random luck of the draw.

Friday The 13th: The Video Game

Friday The 13th: The Video Game suffered from many of the same expectations as Star Wars Battlefront but on a smaller scale. It was the first time we’d get to properly play as Jason Voorhees. With an asymmetrical multiplayer approach, everything seemed like it was on track even with some delays. Sadly, the actual game was riddled with bugs and server issues that made it nigh unplayable at launch. Though such issues were resolved later, Friday The 13th: The Video Game was still just a fairly okay game and not the murder-a-thon we expected.

Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect Andromeda was doomed from the EA Access trial with horrible facial animations, poorly written dialogue, glitches, an odd set-up and strange design choices. The full game was worse with severe performance issues, game breaking bugs and glitches, a total waste of a new setting, the squandering of any potential that the premise could have had and don’t even get us started on the co-op multiplayer mode. Mass Effect Andromeda’s combat was up to snuff but everything else makes us think that the series died just so we could have an amazing year of games. Was it worth it? Hmm.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

A hilariously bad story mode, low-rent roster, lack of additional features, idiotic new mechanics and terrible graphics – at this rate, you’d wonder why we had any expectations from Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Well, this was the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and to a series that we thought was generally dead and gone. To think that we went from “Take you for a ride!” to this nonsense is just sad.

Need for Speed: Payback

Electronic Arts just couldn’t catch a break in 2017. It’s not like we had too much to hope for Need for Speed Payback until its reveal. Over the months, we thought its open world approach, introduction of Heists and three playable characters might finally offer something cool. Expectations were tempered to say the least. Unfortunately, as with Star Wars Battlefront 2, EA ruined it with Speed Cards that could be earned either in-game or with microtransactions. Again, it’s not like the game is suddenly better without microtransactions – customizing your vehicle this way is simply asinine and completely up to RNG. The story was horrendous, the open world didn’t offer much by way of fulfilling gameplay and for an industry that needs microtransactions to fund triple A development, Payback didn’t look particularly good either.

Sonic Forces

When Sonic Forces was first announced, there was cautious optimism. A sequel to Sonic Generations with some kind of war setting? Hurray-ish. Then it was revealed that Sonic would be working alongside all his critter friends. Then all his past enemies appeared as well. And for some reason, Sega thought to throw a customizable avatar. All these bells and whistles aside, Sonic Forces takes everything Generations did right with its gameplay and messes it up. Present Sonic is meh and the Avatar levels are boring. The experience is underwhelming at best and disappointingly idiotic at worst.

NBA 2K18

NBA 2K titles used to walk a fine line between love and hate. Virtual Currency has been an epidemic for a while but the games were generally well built on the basis of their gameplay and campaign. NBA 2K18 looked like it would be even better with its Playgrounds and Career mode and whatnot. Then, like most everything else this year, it was ruined with microtransactions. Customization options are severely gated by Virtual Currency and the game would reward very little of it, pushing you towards microtransactions even more. What could have been a great game is ultimately a decent one that demands way too much money from you past the initial $60.

WWE 2K18

Visual Concepts and Yuke’s haven’t really given us much in terms of quality wrestling for the past few years but past WWE 2K games were at least somewhat decent. WWE 2K18 beats that streak, mixing in a number of amazingly stupid glitches along with a nonsensical MyCareer mode. Though the loot boxes included aren’t purchased with real money, they still severely limit customization and lean towards RNG luck than any kind of actual freedom. This year’s iteration is the best-looking yet but that can only get you so far when everything else is so fundamentally bad.

Styx: Shards of Darkness

Styx: Master of Shadows wasn’t exactly the next Assassin’s Creed (which doesn’t mean much since the current Assassin’s Creed is so different). However, it offered a nice little offbeat fantasy stealth adventure that players could sink their teeth into. Styx: Shards of Darkness sadly failed to build on that. Level design was better this time around but instead of paying homage to the old-school while streamlining gameplay elements, the game stubbornly stuck to it. Stealth is very easy to cheese, which makes you wonder what the point even is and the humour just doesn’t click.

Winner: Star Wars Battlefront 2

It started with the realization that Star Cards could upset the balance of gameplay in multiplayer. Fans were irate that a $60 release introduced pay to win elements. Naturally, DICE responded and promised changes. However, once Star Wars Battlefront 2 hit the early trial stage, the costs of various heroes proved to be the tipping point. The “sense of pride and accomplishment” comment by EA’s community management team became the most downvoted comment in Reddit history. It eventually snowballed into microtransactions being removed and EA experiencing severe falls in its stock prices.

But that’s not what made Star Wars Battlefront 2 a disappointment. It’s the fact that the campaign is a few hours long and fails to deliver on its promise of an Empire state of view. It’s the fact that the multiplayer would suffer severe rubber banding and latency issues, making matches unplayable. It’s the fact that progression makes no sense and is so heavily gated by randomness that you’ll probably never get rewards for the classes you enjoy the most.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the most disappointing game of 2017 because EA took what should have been a winner with its graphics, presentation and sound design and utterly ruined it out of pure greed. That it accomplished this even after Star Wars Battlefront (2015) was so heavily panned is remarkably sad.

Looks like a 24 GB patch required to access most of the game.

2K Games has been hesitant to show off the Switch version of popular wrestling franchise WWE 2K18 on Nintendo’s hybrid, though now that some Resetera posters have been seeing the game pop up in smaller retailers, the footage is getting out there anyways.

The footage appears to show, well exactly what we’ve all expected from a wrestling game. While visual fidelity isn’t exactly on par with Xbox One and PS4, losing lots of lighting effects, the action seems smooth with very occasional jittering.

Of considerable note is a banner across the top of the boxed copy of the game advising players of a 24 GB patch required to access most of the game. This isn’t the first time publishers have passed on the cost of data storage to the Nintendo Switch audience. Both LA Noire and NBA 2K18 have demanded large patches that actually contain the rest of the game. You can check checout the footage here.

2K Sports has made the NXT Generation DLC pack for WWE 2K18 available for download today. The DLC pack adds NXT Superstars Aleister Black, Drew McIntyre, Elias, Lars Sullivan and Ruby Riot to the game, and joins a list of add ons for the game that were, until now, available only to those who had pre-ordered the title.

So, the bigger news here potentially is that you can now get the Kurt Angle pack and the Cena (Nuff) pack if you did not pre-order the game as well; of course, if you have the $30 Season Pass for the game, you get all of these, plus all the future planned DLC packs for the game, automatically.

Going back to the NXT Generation Pack- you can check out what it entails for yourself with the trailer below. As fo WWE 2K18– it is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a version for the Nintendo Switch planned for release before the year end.

2K games has released a new trailer, as well as a bunch of screenshots, for upcoming DLC for this year’s entry in its annual wrestling game series- WWE 2K18. The first DLC pack in question is the Kurt Angle pack, while the second one is the Cena (Nuff) pack.

Neither is part of the Season Pass. You either got them for pre-ordering the special editions of the game, or you buy them for $5 and $8 respectively. As for why you should buy them- well, maybe the screenshots and trailer below can help convince you. If you’re a fan of wrestling, or these stars, chances are you’ll want to cough up the dough and pick these up for your game.

WWE 2K18 is out now on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC; a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch is due to launch shortly as well. Make sure to check out the trailer and screens below for yourself.

We interview the team at Yuke's to learn everything about WWE 2K18.

We recently got the chance to interview the development team behind WWE 2K18. Check out our full interview below. WWE 2K18 is now available for the PS4, Xbox One, PC and for the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Considering how fluid WWE story-telling can be, what is it like having to work with various story twists, title changes and departures while your game’s roster is set in stone?

As you mention, WWE is a very dynamic universe that has lots of twists and turns. We work very closely with WWE to keep our game as up to date as possible. The company is a great business partner.

How many wrestlers are on the roster this time around and how did you deal with implementing them all at once? Were there any specific challenges to face?

For WWE 2K18, we have nearly 200 WWE Superstars, Legends and Hall of Famers. This is the largest roster in the history of WWE games and provides everyone with an incredible selection to choose from when they play this year’s game.

What can you tell us about the fighting styles introduced for the MyPlayer characters? Given the number of styles in wrestling, how did you go about selecting the eight currently in the game (and will more be added later)?

Our new MyPLAYER system utilizes fighting styles to better differentiate between different styles and types of Superstars. Each fighting style excels at least two attribute categories and has its own skills and abilities unlocked by default. This means you won’t see Giants running around as fast as everyone else, and you will definitely want to avoid submissions against Technicians.

We developed eight Fighting Styles to represent the different archetypes of WWE Superstars but also to ensure we have strong differentiation between each fight style. By doing this, our fans have unique choices for what types of Superstars they want to create and play as in WWE 2K18.

"There are a lot of very impressive gameplay improvements in WWE 2K18. Along with the new Carry system, we greatly expanded the backstage environment and created even more interactive components that allow you to take your brawls to a new level."

What can we expect in Road to Glory mode? How does it differ from past games with stories for custom characters? Does the story-telling differ depending on the custom character’s gender (especially with how women’s wrestling has seen a surge in the past few years)?

Road To Glory is a brand new gameplay experience for your MyPLAYER. Now you can compete online against other MyPLAYERs on your quest for greatness in WWE PPV events.

We recently released a cool trailer and comprehensive blog detailing many things that fans can look forward to in Road To Glory. You can check these out here.

Along with the carry system, what other changes have been made to the overall gameplay?

There are a lot of very impressive gameplay improvements in WWE 2K18. Along with the new Carry system, we greatly expanded the backstage environment and created even more interactive components that allow you to take your brawls to a new level.

We also implemented eight-Superstar matches for the first time in franchise history. Along with this came a complete rework of the Royal Rumble, which includes all-new mini games and mechanics.

Additionally, we implemented a new Feeding system that has downed opponents strategically position themselves to keep the flow of the match progressing. For example, if a Superstar is downed near the corner: rather than just lying in the corner, he or she may pull him/herself into a corner seated position, which will provide better opportunities for good gameplay.

"It is so hard to choose just one new feature or addition for WWE 2K18! One of the great things about WWE 2K18 is that the game offers a lot to different types of users."

With eight wrestlers now able to enter the ring at once, how do you optimize performance for this? Furthermore, with the amount of chaos that can happen as a result, what steps are taken to keep things flowing for players?

Our new eight-Superstar matches definitely bring mayhem and chaos to our game in a good way. When we redid the entire graphics engine, we did it with the goal of supporting eight-Superstar matches in mind. This allowed us to find the necessary performance to support the chaos that is sure to ensue!

To keep the matches fun and not devolve into total chaos, we use a combination of our new Feeding system, our existing Roll Out system, our new Carry system and some special AI logic that controls the flow of the match and how many Superstars are trying to perform big moves in the ring at the same time. The result is a very fun and compelling gameplay experience that is all new for WWE 2K18.

What was it like having The Rock curate the soundtrack? How does it fit the overall atmosphere?

Any chance you get to work with a legendary Superstar and global icon like The Rock is always exciting. We were very happy to have The Rock provide his own flavor of music for WWE 2K18 and can’t wait for everyone to hear it for themselves while laying the smack down on their opponents!

What do you feel is the biggest change that WWE 2K18 makes to elevate it above and beyond previous entries?

It is so hard to choose just one new feature or addition for WWE 2K18! One of the great things about WWE 2K18 is that the game offers a lot to different types of users. Whether it is the best visuals ever in a WWE game, the largest roster in WWE games history, our improved WWE Universe Mode or eight-Superstar matches … or the even better Creation Suite, new MyCAREER experience or all-new Road To Glory mode, there really is something for all fans of WWE.

"We are also interested in supporting 4K and HDR on Xbox One X in the future, but at this point, have no specifics to share today. Stay tuned for future announcements!"

What resolution and frame rate will the PS4 and Xbox One versions run at?

WWE 2K18 runs at 60 FPS at 1080p. However, there are currently are a few situations where you may see the game drop to 30 FPS. We are still working to improve those areas and will have more information soon, but for now, the vast majority of the game runs at 60 FPS.

Are you supporting WWE2K18 for the PS4 Pro? If yes, what resolution and frame rate can players expect on this?

We are interested in supporting 4K and HDR in the near future, but at this point, do not have anything specific we can share today. Stay tuned for future announcements!

Any plans to support the Xbox One X? Any special benefits those players will have while playing WWE2K18?

We are also interested in supporting 4K and HDR on Xbox One X in the future, but at this point, have no specifics to share today. Stay tuned for future announcements!

Do you have a parting message for all the WWE 2K fans and gamers?

We are very excited for all the WWE 2K fans to experience WWE 2K18, and we can’t wait to see and hear what you accomplish in WWE 2K18 – where you can Be Like No One!

A number of new releases also arrive in the top ten including WWE 2K18.

Though it seemed like no single release could ever push FIFA 18 off of its throne, the popularity of the Gran Turismo franchise in Europe was apparently enough. According to Gfk Chart-Track’s latest physical sales charts for the week ending October 21st, Gran Turismo Sport debuted in first place. Not only that but it boasted higher first week sales than the very first Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 6 but less than Gran Turismo 5.

FIFA 18 meanwhile fell to second place. WWE 2K18 is yet another new game but arrives in fourth place ahead of Middle Earth: Shadow of War. The Evil Within 2 managed to hit sixth place while Destiny 2 was in seventh and Grand Theft Auto 5 stuck around at eight. Forza Motorsport 7 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy rounded out the charts.

Again, these are only physical sales numbers and not digital. The overall sales for each title in the region could be higher but we’ll only know for sure in the long run. Let us know what you think of the previous week’s releases in the comments below.
