This one was among 2025’s better additions, and it isn’t surprising to see a solid Soulslike raking in the numbers for its makers.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a title we’re often going to remember fondly in conversations about our favorite Soulslikes. There was a lot to enjoy about its high-stakes narrative, mind-blowing variety, deep combat mechanics, and a gameplay loop that brought enough innovation to make the experience stand out.

We appreciated its safe approach and solid execution in our review, and it seems many of you agreed with us since its launch. 505 Games’ parent company Digital Bros, which acquired the rights to the IP earlier this year, has come out to express its gratitude to the five million players who have formed the crux of a very enthusiastic community around this one. There’s even special artwork accompanying the announcement, and it’s definitely something you’re going to want to save.

Sadly, the happy news doesn’t come with any indications of plans to expand on Fallen Feathers’ excellent world and combat with additional content or DLC at this moment, which is definitely a bummer. Wuchang’s definitely a warrior we want to return to if fate allows it.

With 505 Games acquiring the rights, maybe we’ll see a sequel somewhere down the road, ideally involving the original development team members who were let go from Leenzee. As always, stay tuned for more updates on that front.

The sequel Johnson’s talking about doesn’t necessarily mean that Halo 2 is getting evolved, but there’s a strong argument in favor of it.

It’s only been a short while since we were telling you about a bunch of Halo: Campaign Evolved players being locked out of early access, but it seems that the ones who did manage to get in have managed a feat that should have taken them longer.

It seems we underestimated the power that Halo commands even today, and some players are already looking to the future after blazing a path to victory against the game’s Legendary difficulty. They’ve discovered an alternate ending cutscene in which Sergeant Johnson says “see you in the sequel.”

If you’ve been paying attention to rumors as of late, you’ll know that remakes of Halo 2 and 3 are reportedly in the works (and apparently dependent on Campaign Evolved’s success). Regardless, it would make sense to remake the original trilogy, especially after the strongly positive reception that the first has received.

Whether such remakes are going to continue the new cross-platform strategy, and perhaps consider adding in competitive PvP, is a question for later. But for now, Campaign Evolved’s more than enough to keep you enthusiasts and newcomers occupied for a good while yet. Stay tuned for more updates en route to the Standard Edition’s launch on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

After Legacy of Atlantis faced a delay to February 2027, the next mainline title in the series is apparently skipping next year entirely.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis getting delayed to early 2027 was the right move, especially with how crowded the Fall 2026 window had become. And while many speculated whether Tomb Raider: Catalyst would be delayed as well, Amazon’s head of gaming, Jeffrey Gattis, seemingly confirmed it in an interview with The Game Business.

“We’ve announced the two Tomb Raider titles. You know, Atlantis comes February 12th of next year, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one. So we’re excited about those.” He also briefly touched on “other AAA things” that are currently in “various stages of discussion right now,” though that’s clearly not the big story.

Of course, Crystal Dynamics has yet to issue a statement, so you have to wonder if Gattis may have jumped the gun. It still makes sense, regardless – Legacy of Atlantis is a remake that’s retailing for $59.99 and would have its own marketing costs.

Regardless of its success, Amazon may have a bigger marketing push in mind for Tomb Raider: Catalyst, since it’s the first new title in the series since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider (and apparently the series’ biggest yet). It may also be as simple as not wanting to saturate the market with too many titles in the series, allowing Legacy of Atlantis some time to breathe.

While we wait for an official announcement of the delay, you can check out the latest developer diary for the remake, which goes over Lara Croft’s movement and traversal. Crystal Dynamics has also talked about customizable difficulty options that could mirror Shadow of the Tomb Raider – head here for more details.

While there isn't any New Game Plus option, players will unlock "certain customization options on subsequent playthroughs.”

For many, August is rife with big releases such as Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and Beast of Reincarnation. While Star Wars Zero Company fits, its marketing has definitely felt more clandestine. Case in point, a recent Q&A on the EA Star Wars Discord, which offers a boatload of new details on the turn-based tactics title, including the playtime.

According to lead producer Caydence Funk, it will take the average player “about 30-40 hours” to finish the campaign, but this depends on “your difficulty level and experience with the strategy genre.” Given the crossover with XCOM, one would imagine that veterans of Firaxis’s franchise will have an easier time getting into the game and learning its intricacies.

However, New Game Plus won’t be available to challenge a veteran squad. However, Funk mentioned that you’ll be able to “unlock certain customization options on subsequent playthroughs.” Perhaps that includes bumping up enemy health or making it so that injuries take longer to recover from.

Players also shouldn’t expect the campaign to have any “branching paths” – this is a “linear” story throughout, says BitReactor. “While we are excited about pushing the genre forward with a more cinematic approach, this is still a turn-based tactics game at its heart where adept skill and strategy are needed to overcome tense combat challenges.

“That said, there are story moments that can alter based on who you have in your squad, but the overall story is a linear one from beginning to end.” It also notes that while some choices will affect certain narrative elements and Bonds between characters, everyone will have “largely the same” ending.

Of course, if it can capture even a shred of the magic that defined The Clone Wars or Andor, especially when it comes to inter-squad drama, then Star Wars Zero Company could end up something special. It’s out on August 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

The Workshop and Extraction Avenues offer stealth and action alike, and you can even unlock a new outfit, "Diamond in the Rough."

The first major content update for 007 First Light, “Behind Enemy Lines,” is now available on all platforms. As promised, there are new missions to engage with in the Tactical Simulator, and some unlocks to keep you busy.

The two new missions include The Workshop, where you need to silently eliminate hostiles (so no guns allowed, it seems), and Extraction Avenues, which involves escaping before reinforcements arrive. License to Kill is active for the latter, and you’ll need it because of modifiers like Powerful Enemies and No Resource Regen.

Fortunately, Bond will have some added firepower to even the odds. You can unlock the DRS-7 Silenced SMG, the Desert Eagle, and more. There’s also a new outfit to wear during TacSim missions – Diamond in the Rough, channeling a mission where you venture to The Pearl Resort for a brief respite.

There’s much more to look forward to for Year 1 of First Light, including New Game+, Photo Mode, the G2 Glasses gadget, the Nintendo Switch 2 version, and a new mission featuring Bawma. None of these has specific dates attached, so stay tuned for more updates.

You can check out our review for 007 First Light in the meantime. It’s sold over 2.7 million copies in its first week.

The ad-supported tier allows for one-hour gaming sessions with ads rolling when the session starts, and no gameplay interruptions.

Xbox has started to test a new ad-supported tier for its cloud streaming service. Currently, this new tier is only available to Xbox Insiders and will have session limits of one hour across supported devices and regions. While the core gameplay experience won’t change, they will get ads before a play session begins.

Not all games will be available to stream, however, and players will need to buy and own games. Since this ad-supported service is expected to be entirely separate from the company’s Game Pass subscription service, the fact that it lacks a built-in library of games shouldn’t be too surprising.

Xbox has also noted that the ad-supported cloud streaming service is completely optional, and that players can continue to play the games they own through other means, like a console or PC. Supported games include 2026 releases like Forza Horizon 6 and 007 First Light along with older titles.

Offering further details on how the advertisement system will work, the company has noted that it has no plans to interrupt the flow of gameplay during a session. Ads are also supposed to meet “the same quality bar as our content”, and are going to be clear about what they’re selling. The company also wants to make sure that ads shown to a player fit that player’s needs and platform.

“Advertising has existed in gaming for decades, from in-game placements to free-to-play models,” explains the company. “But it hasn’t always been built with the player in mind. When done well, advertising can help lower the cost of access. It creates another way for players to get into games without an upfront streaming purchase and expands audiences through new ways to play.”

As is always the case with new features being tested out by Xbox, Insiders can offer feedback through the Player Voice platform that was introduced earlier this year. Xbox Insiders also have a subreddit for discussions and feedback.

This announcement comes after rumors from earlier this year indicated that Microsoft was going to launch ad-supported cloud streaming this year. At the time, reports also indicated that this would have nothing to do with Game Pass, and that the ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming is going to be available freely for anyone who has access to a compatible device.

Microsoft had confirmed that it was internally testing a free tier of Xbox Cloud Gaming supported through ads back in October 2025, following shortly after its incredibly controversial decision to raise the price for Game Pass subscriptions. The report also indicated that players would get a total of five 1-hour sessions each month, and that pre-roll ads would be around two minutes long. The statement came after rumors indicated that the ad-supported tier was in the works.

Xbox introduced the ability for players to access games they own through cloud streaming all the way back in November 2024. Before this, the only titles available through the service were the Game Pass catalogue. Since then, the company has worked on making more Xbox Series X/S and PC games playable through cloud gaming.

GM of Amazon Game Studios, Jeff Gattis, also reiterated that it's still too early to discuss any potential sequel to 007 First Light.

The critical and commercial success of 007 First Light has led to quite a bit of criticism towards Amazon due to uncertainties about potential sequels. Clearing things up, general manager of Amazon Luna and Amazon Game Studios, Jeff Gattis, has said that the door is open for IO Interactive to potentially make a new game in the franchise. In an interview with GamesIndustry, Gattis also reiterated that no discussions about a sequel have taken place.

While Amazon will likely end up publishing any sequel to 007 First Light – which was self-published by IO Interactive – Gattis also noted that the company wanted to “do what’s right by the game” when it came to its future.

“We did not confirm anything about who’s publishing or developing the next Bond sequel. Like [IO Interactive CEO] Hakan Abrak said, we haven’t even discussed it really yet. The game’s awesome. That’s great. I think it’s realistic to think that there would be a sequel. Technically, Amazon does own the rights to the game, but we’re going to do what’s right by the game; we’re not trying to bring everything into Amazon. Given the success of this one, I think you probably want IOI developing it. We’re going to do what’s right by the game; we’re not trying to bring everything into Amazon.”

“Given the success of this one, I think you probably want IOI developing it.”

Further in the interview, Gattis also provided more details about other game projects currently in the works under Amazon Game Studios. Along with generally releasing more games, the company also wants to have more cross-media properties.

“The vision for us is to get to much more of this world where you can imagine going into Prime Video and seeing a page that is much more about fandom and IP, as opposed to ‘here’s a bunch of shows’,” he explained. “So you see the Tomb Raider TV show, here’s the Tomb Raider video game, here’s Tomb Raider merchandise you can buy on Amazon.com.”

The controversy surrounding a 007 First Light sequel first came about due to Gattis saying last month that the deal for the game was signed before Amazon acquired the property. Since the company wants to take more ownership of its IP, it also wants to publish the games going forward.

He also previously tried to assuage fears that 007 First Light would be taken away from IO Interactive in favor of one of Amazon’s own in-house studios. While he didn’t commit to a sequel, he acknowledged that “the game’s doing great” before saying that “let’s let the game breathe and have its day.”

“Trust that we’re going to be smart about this. I mean, it’s market appetite. As long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.”

For his part, Abrak has said that IO Interactive still has more plans for 007 First Light that will be revealed down the line. In the meantime, however, no conversations about a sequel have taken place.

007 First Light is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said it's the series' "highest-rated" title since the original and is "very pleased" with the praise.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been a major success for Ubisoft, so much so that even the publisher is surprised. In its latest financial report, it revealed that the remake had sold 3.5 million copies to date, “exceeding annual expectations within its first 14 days.” Its last milestone was over three million sold within the first week, with reports claiming that it had outpaced Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Steam.

“The strong launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in early July by Vantage Studios is an encouraging proof point,” said CEO Yves Guillemot. He noted that it’s the “highest-rated” title in the series since 2013’s Black Flag, and the company is “very pleased with the praise it received from players.”

He went on to thank “the teams whose talent and dedication brought it to life.” Of course, there’s no mention of Ubisoft Barcelona, which contributed heavily to the project and was rewarded with layoffs for 51 developers.

Regardless, even with controversial day-one DLC, Resynced is a hit among fans, and could very well signal more remakes in the franchise. For now, Ubisoft Singapore is working on post-launch support, including New Game Plus and allowing Edward to hide his blowpipe, as one would do.

While game director Richard Knight noted the possibility of at least one year of support for the remake, nothing is for certain. The team apparently has some DLC ideas, though, with a focus on Edward. So no, sadly, no Freedom Cry anytime soon, though Knight didn’t outright dismiss the possibility.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC – check out our review, where we gave it a 9 out of 10.

The "new Kingdom Come adventure," which is also an open-world action RPG, could be gearing up for a reveal at Gamescom next month.

The name of Warhorse Studios’ “new Kingdom Come adventure” may have been revealed courtesy of a EUIPO trademark for Kingdom Come Salvation. Discovered by Resetera, it was filed and received on July 23rd, with the developer specifically named as the owner and even an official logo revealed.

This could indicate a possible announcement sometime in the near future, and given that Gamescom Opening Night Live is coming up in August, a teaser trailer certainly seems on the cards. The question is whether Warhorse Studios has more to show.

It recently confirmed that the next Kingdom Come would also be an open-world action RPG like its contemporaries and that it would launch sometime between April 2027 and March 2028. Interestingly, the trademark mentions “entertainment services for matching users with computer games,” which could mean co-op (or, in the worst case scenario, competitive multiplayer).

Regardless of whether it appears at Gamescom or not, it’s an exciting prospect, especially following the conclusion of Henry’s story in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The latter crossed six million sales last month after receiving extensive critical acclaim last year. There’s even a new Balatro-themed quest for players to enjoy.

As for the more distant future, Warhorse Studios is working on an open-world role-playing game set in JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Details are currently sparse, and it’s not even confirmed whether it’s based on established properties like The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. Stay tuned for more updates as always.

The studio's statement follows reports of former and current employees being worried about needing to crunch to make the RPG.

While plenty of developers at Bethesda might be worried about the need to crunch for the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, the studio itself has said that its roadmap for making the game hasn’t been affected by recent Xbox-wide layoffs. In a statement to YouTuber MrMattyPlays, the company said: “No, the roadmap is unaffected.”

It is worth noting that the layoffs across Bethesda as a whole, which includes teams from ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda Game Studios, have been quite extensive, with the former losing 213 of its employees. As for the latter, in an official statement, the company has said that its “primary development focus” is the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls 6.

“With over 65 million copies sold, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later, but we know it’s been a very long wait for the sequel. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.”

Previous reports have indicated Bethesda Game Studios has lost more than 50 of its employees due to the layoffs, which included “key, high-performing people in the trenches” across “a mix of every discipline: programmers, artists, and designers” that were working on the open-world RPG. “Their loss will have a substantial and cascading effect on the game and morale of this studio,” said one employee.

While these current and former Bethesda employees aren’t quite sure how the studio will continue developing the game going forward, one has expressed worries about being “replaced by cheaper contracted labor.” Some also believe that Bethesda might “hire folks to replace them that will need to be onboarded (our tools are proprietary, other devs aren’t going to know how they work), resulting in more delays, and we’ll need to crunch to make up the time.”

Bethesda, for its part, has been generally quiet about the release window for The Elder Scrolls 6. In a recent Q&A session, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has posited that it might still be at least two years away. Even director Todd Howard hasn’t revealed much, simply saying that it’s “our biggest project right now” and that the team knows “we need to get it right, and it’s been a long time.”

The closest idea we’ve gotten about the state of The Elder Scrolls 6’s development has been a statement by Xbox CCO Matt Booty from back in June, when he said that it was “coming along well.” He went on to say that the team wants to “wait till the right moment” before it reveals more details.

“And when you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got. And also that when you show the game, you’re also giving them a promise of, hey, it’s coming soon. So I can tell you, having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen Elder Scrolls playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well. And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time.”
